It may in fact be an issue if Su-7 players did not simply suicide rush/bomb bases at the start of every match. I have never seen an Su-7 survive past 2 minutes.
What most SU-7 Player does is just bombing lot of them never try to dogfight even when they are better in almost every way. And since it BR got low down to 9.0 it just make thing easier for them now.
No matter how skillful a player is, they physically have to turn after you to kill you, which is an aspect you can exploit (especially with that speed bleed and turn circle size).
It is very much possible to reverse them (and other types of pencils), but regular players are not going to bother learning how to set up high speed reversals. The only solution is a decompression of all the jet BRs, starting with 7.0.
Knowing how to reverse doesn’t mean the other guy has to let you either. It’s far easier for the F-104 pilot to simply not let you on him than it is for you to reverse
Lmao what. They call it the starfighter but it isn’t ACTUALLY one.
Also they’re not really good rn. Aim-9P/J and F-106s completely counter them at around the same BR. And with the 106 spam still surprisingly strong, until we get some decompression, it’s relatively in a good place.
Edit: oh, and they’re also pretty fragile, even when damage that doesn’t kick them out of the plane, they can’t land from any control surface damage (mainly because they don’t have the surfaces to spare)
Another thing is… all they do is bombing. Not alot of them actaully tired to dogfight you.
The harder the F-104 tries to not let himself get shot, the easier it is to stay safe while attempting a reversal, because the 104 is not taking risk.
If the objective of the 104 is to survive at all cost, sure, it’s easy to attain that goal. But most often than not, a pilot will consider taking risk to get a kill, which is where as a defender in a reversal, the defender needs to find the fine line between being killed and successfully baiting the 104 into a bad situation.
It’s easy for a 104 to just disengage, but it’s also easy to stay out of it’s guns. This allows you to psychologically make it harder for a 104 to actually disengage, depending on player motivations (“I want to survive” vs “I want to win/get kills”). The defender just needs to take a couple of safe actions to prod the attacker, in order to find out the risk taking behaviour of the attacker.
I’m going to reiterate my main point: F-104 turn circle size + F-104 speed bleed + ballistics + player motivations = opportunity to take out the F-104 (no matter how hard it may seem)
At the least I have Hunter F.6 to smack those 104 spammers.
They deserve to die by SRAAM.
Sounds a bit off topic, but how’s the new SRAAM?
Is it worthwhile to use?
Quite insane imo.
I feel a little guilty about spamming missiles against flareless subsonics.
Wouldn’t be surprised even if Hunter F.6 and Harrier GR.1 move up to 10.0 again.
Sure, you’re still never killing the F-104 while he can still very much kill you. Matches aren’t 1v1s. The slower aircraft in this scenario is highly disadvantaged.
If F-104 is in a position to kill you, then you’re in a position to kill him. The only time you have have issues fighting F-104 is if he isn’t a threat.
No logic found.
No, you just don’t understand logic.

Grab a 4.0 squadmate friend, get into an F3F, and develop your “reversing overwhelmingly faster and less maneuverable enemies” skill in a regular Air RB battle.
Trust me, just try it. Even if you don’t believe this would result in anything useful for yourself, it’ll still be a fun experience.
Consider this before you go to battle:
Focus on the differences in MER and turn circle sizes, and create an appropriate strategy to get faster opponents killed.
I’m quite good at reversals. Reversals have to be allowed when the enemy has an extreme energy advantage over you. This patronizing tone is cringe.
Reread your message and think about what is missing in your reversals.
I am genuinely trying to share what I know, but if you’re convinced there’s nothing more to reversals than what you already think, feel free to ignore my messages.
Yeah, maybe I should’ve worded my message better.
Spoiler
develop your “baiting overwhelmingly faster and less maneuverable enemis into reversals” skill
Correct, because everything you have brought up or could bring up has already been accounted for.
if you fly at level of around 50-70ft airfield SPAA will do nothing fun fact
