Often, when tanks go into combat, they must carry equipment that they cannot carry inside the tank; often, the equipment is strapped to the sides of the tanks or is placed inside storage baskets that are often placed on the back of the turrets. While this has been seen ever since the tank’s initial introduction onto the battlefield, it only became common to a degree during WW2 and it became even more common in more modern conflicts such as Operation Desert Storm.
There are many tanks in the game that already have external baggage modeled on them; however, when you see more than one of them at the same time, it begins to look quite strange. That is why I am suggesting these as decorations. They will help to add uniqueness to players’ tanks and help to break up the tanks so that they can appear more unique and less like clones of each other. The baggage could consist of many things, such as a few backpacks piled together, some ammo boxes, rolled up tarps, rolled up sleeping bags, small wooden boxes, and many more.
Oftentimes, these bags and boxes were only stored on tanks when it was planned that they may need enough supplies to last at least a day or two, and often contained things like MREs (Meal Ready to Eat), sleeping bags, spare parts, ammunition, tarps, and ropes/cables. If this were to be added to the game, they wouldn’t have to be perfectly realistic, just realistic enough for someone to say that it was just some bags and boxes at a glance. And also these could be used to implement countless eastereggs and nods to popular films, books, games, and many many other things.
