Don’t you get punished for bailing out by getting full repair cost instead of time based? Like getting punished for saving the pilot.
I mean I don’t think there’s a difference between bailing out and riding it into the ground if you’re plane doesn’t work anymore, so you’re punished either way (so it’s pointless other than to save some seconds).
It would be neat if saving the pilot would cut down repair costs or gain you some more crew XP though. But that’s a topic for another conversation.
From the current dev server changelog:
- Now, when flying an aircraft from cockpit view at high speeds, an open canopy/cockpit door will cause external sounds to be muffled by the wind and become indistinguishable.
Doesn’t this solve the problem?
I have not yet seen this, if this is real you just made my day. Let me try and find it!
You are right! Lets see how effective this will be. Thank you again for highlighting this to me. o7
So you’re angry at other players because you’re handicapping yourself?
bruh
With the time based repaircost, and there are some scenarios in which they apply the full repair despite a short lifespan.
I thought that didn’t apply to sim… I’ve never really looked into it.
@LeoNerdo
No.
1- That’s unrealistic.
2- You could no longer eject from the aircraft except in F-111.
3- Increasing drag to realistic levels is the actual solution.
- No sane pilot flies with open cockpit at high speeds. Whats more realistic?
- Ejection is not a normal canopy opening, its an emergency procedure, blasting away the canopy.
- Yes, plus tearing away the canopy.
Missed that, nice.
and 90% of it. Still get some slightly visual advantages without cockpit frames in the way
I feel its more of a hold over from earlier props. I think some props, especially the slower ones like the Dauntless dive bomber could be flown and were sometimes flown with the cockpit open IRL.
Of course at higher BRs, with more modern jets, beyond taxiing with the cockpit open. Its never done.
Engine sounds with cockpit closed are abhorrent. Every jet sounds the same, all props sound meek and pitiful.
Yeah but unless their engine is off, one shouldn’t hear much other than your own airplane with the cockpit open, however we’ll see if that “solves the problem”
Yep agreed. Going to be interesting to see how this will work.
Though… There are still sound mods to consider, so I wonder what Gaijins plan is for them?
How about no. You see many countries doing that, at such speeds. Without issue, the only time it becomes an issue is when they start putting their head outside of the cockpit. So from a historical standpoint, it is incredibly beneficial, unless you’re a German main, then this is certainly something they would demand. Cause there is a lack of everything.
Are we talking about the same planes?
Please let me know, which countries (if there are so many) do this in normal operation?
And what is so beneicial about it? I doubt that you can hear anything at 800 km/h.
This is what we see every day in WT at mach 1.2. Thats as realistic as flying backwards.
And the germany thing I didn´t get…
