Enforce closed cockpits for all aircraft

How about no. You see many countries doing that, at such speeds. Without issue, the only time it becomes an issue is when they start putting their head outside of the cockpit. So from a historical standpoint, it is incredibly beneficial, unless you’re a German main, then this is certainly something they would demand. Cause there is a lack of everything.

Are we talking about the same planes?
Please let me know, which countries (if there are so many) do this in normal operation?
And what is so beneicial about it? I doubt that you can hear anything at 800 km/h.

This is what we see every day in WT at mach 1.2. Thats as realistic as flying backwards.

And the germany thing I didn´t get…

THEY FIXED IT

Did you check it already?

I’d love to hear how cabrio flyers feel about this update.

I assume they will keep quiet.

Anything else would be like openly admitting having abused said mechanic all this time…

this was changed in the update

NGL on props I love the wind sound, might fly open cockpit more like this.

I don’t play sim enough to care much either way. I was just pointing out proMLGpro’s hypocracy.

ngl the biggest upside of the wind muffling sound is that planes that don’t have opening their cockpit modeled will no longer be at a disadvantage

same I just like to fly with my p-40’s cockpits open

In the piston era they flew like this, at low altitude and speed.

Still want to see pilot affected by low pressure and temperature ingame.

Just close the pit above 120kts and everybody is fine. Instead of the clowns trying to exploit sim.
I thought Gaijin was countering exploits? i see this was was reported 2 years ago?
Did someone sent them a reminder?

In fact, the Corsair manual tells you to close the canopy when entering a dive and it can go up to 300kts IAS.

Ok 300kts fine, but make it soo noisy you cant hear a fuck, now the exploit lets you hear an engine from below at 6 oclock in mig 21… thats the point, got a picture of a mig21 with an open cockpit at mach 1.1?

Just give everyaircraft a max open cockpit speed like they al have a max wing overload speed.

Or better rip the canopy off and increase wind sound with increased speed.

The topic is just to prevent exploits

This is the current state now, unless you use illegal sound mods.

You can’t unless they’re so close they’re almost touching you.

Well, I find also with closed canopy one these days can actually hear someone at your six from a bit away. Just recently had a situation where I though, hey, my engine seems to sound a bit differently, and just as I wanted to turn to check my six got shredded by a sneaky fighter… = )

And it looks silly Jets with open cockpits LOL

Sneaked up on a mig, from 6 clock low in his dead zone, when i came close he popped flares and went in a break turn. he must have heard me. Ans yes his cockpit was open.

But i dont care too much, but i think silly expploits ruin immersion.

I have done some repeated ‘testing’ in air sim by flying the same planes with canopy both open and closed.

With it closed, I can hear people lining up behind me and in dogfights much more often. Knowing which side someone is going to overshoot to is far easier with the canopy CLOSED whereas with it OPEN the wind sound drowns out everything.

My plane’s own engine still sounds way better with it open, though.

I know from experience this can’t be done. Depending on which “mig” exactly he might be able to just see you normally.

That being said there have been some suspicious players lately. An F-4E somehow “saw” and flared the AIM-9P I launched at him, even though the motor had been burned out for quite a bit. Of course I have no concrete proof and I don’t feel like watching all his replays to find out.

No, because they use sound mods…

Note the permission to open cockpit in flight until 300 knots.

Note the fact that they felt it NECESSARY to EXPLICITLY request pilots to close their cabin BEFORE diving. Meaning, they had CANOPY OPEN and would LEAVE IT OPEN. Why would they do such a thing you ask?

Pacific. Unpressurized, non-climate controlled cockpit. Cockpit that might get stuck and NOT open in an emergency (say get ambushed and need to bail). Pilots liked to keep it open.

Timestamped.

And for what it’s worth, my go-to plane these days are all planes without the ability to open the canopy (109s, P-38s, Mustangs of all sorts) so… I can’t really benefit from protecting the ability to open canopies.
