Duplicate Vehicles: Why We Add Them

Israel should not have been a tech tree, it starts at 6.0 and most of the vehicles are already copy paste. It should have been a sub-tree of the US

Its funny that they said they would improve communication, yet 99,99% of the comments are unanswered. And those who were, got only a witty snark at best.

unfortunetly its photoshop but i wish someone make it a war thunder live skin

no they deserve their own TT they have a lot of stuff

Yeah I do kinda agree that the Israeli tree could’ve added a lot of variety to the US with the kfirs and such, especially since gaijin prefers adding copy and paste things more than they do to actual tech trees, maybe Israel would have gotten more unique things
Edit:
But on the other hand Israel has a little too much for a subtree, and has a lot of potential

there’s plenty of unique vehicles that could fill these gaps in battle ratings for many nations if these werent locked behind premium or event status, i think the whole premium/event stuff should be reworked so that players could still get these vehicles by farming but making these special vehicles very costly or able to be researched from squad points for example sturm tiger having a requeriment of 500.000~700.000 RP and 2.000.000 SL something around that so that players could still get these by hard work and having golden lions or gaijin coins be more of a tool to save time instead of being the only way to get them

Yeah, I really like this idea too. There’s two great suggestions for slightly different ways this can be done in game. I don’t think players should research vehicles they already played at full price, because that just makes them feel like roadblocks. Same thing for modifications too, I think these should also be cheaper, and maybe it would be fair to give at least some of the essentials for free like parts, FPE, NVD/TVD, certain ammo choices, etc.

But if they are cheaper the more you played, then you can (for example) research familiar vehicles to fill the lineup for the next BR step quicker. So that’d be less time spent at a new BR with only one vehicle of the BR, or less time waiting to research a lineup with the exciting new BR vehicle only sitting in the hangar depending on which of these you do.

I also think they can try foldering these, so the required progression is mostly unique vehicles and variants, while full on copies are placed mainly as optional vehicles for lineups and historical reasons. This won’t work all the time, sometimes there isn’t any alternatives, but where it’s possible this should be done.

Yeah nations deserve their own techtree space. Personally I think the basic subtree “coalitions” can stay as they are, so some nations can combine lineups (Italy, Hungary, Romania for example would be one), but each nation has an individual techtree. This way a player can choose to play all for the lineups, or choose to only play the nations they want without being forced to play the others like current subtrees do.

The irony is that Mobius calls their own definition garbage:

If you think your definition is garbage, don’t use it to begin with.

As I stated earlier, the issue is a majority of domestic Benelux vehicles are in a tough spot with respect to the French tree because most fill roles and capabilities that France can organically address with missing designs( armored cars, light tanks, and atgm carriers). I think a lot of people underestimate just how many light tanks and armored cars France is missing.

This means that nearly every Benelux addition is going to be put in a position where it’s a redundant addition to the French tree. Mind you, not all, but a large portion.

I want to see, first and foremost, France get more of its missing designs, but I also totally get the desire for Benelux to get their designs added, which is why they really should have been placed in a tree that lacked light tank and armored car options.

Biggest of these is obviously Germany (which also has ties via the German-Dutch army integration scheme), so if the hang up to some players is interwar/WW2 Benelux content touching German hands, then splitting the additions chronologically around 1948 or so addresses the issue

A lot of stuff from other countries with little to no variety, I.E you have 13 rebranded M60 Pattons and only 3 (if i remmember correctly) offer something different. Not to mention the endless bushmaster-with-spike boxtanks.
And with the planes the BR jumps are ridiculous.

Disolve this crap onto other tech tree, or crate a “Middle Eastern” tech tree with Iranian MiG-25s and F-14s, Saudi Arabian F-15S/SA, Pakistan’s JF-17 variants and so on. Then it would be a varied tech tree with interesting vehicles and not “F-15 with funny name”

“while more unique vehicles are in development and come in time. For example, the Leopard 1A5BE addition doesn’t negate the AMX-30C2 (which is in our plans for the future)”

But was it so hard to simply get rid of the Leo1 and copy paste the AMX-30B2 and give it a stab? Was the task impossible perhaps? When there is more than 15 well detailed 9.3 potential French vehicle in the suggestion forum, I have a hard time taking any of that part seriously, same thing for Italian and Japanese vehicles, there is no excuse for that apart “Sorry we are lazy”.

I think that Gaijin should create:

  • Middle East TT: Pakistan, Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia…
  • Pacific TT: Japan, Phillipines, Vietnam, Singapore…
  • Latin America TT: Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina…

Then we would have variety and organization.

I really don’t think the solution to this problem is adding ANOTHER Leopard to the French tree. If this is really what we’re stuck with, I would have preferred a “transitory” Leopard 1a5BE

Something from the devs saying it was being added in its current state with Limited ammo to fill in until the AMX-30C2 was added, after which, maybe 3-6 months later, it would be given its proper ammo and potentially the MEXAS turret and moved to 9.7/10.0/etc

This both fills the intended purpose for the currently ammo limited version AND promises a somewhat unique Benelux addition down the line

The Arabs and all them would throw a massive fit if they got grouped in with Israel, but the main issue is that gaijin just doesn’t want to make any big changes like that

Wont happen

After this update sound feels worse, engine and track sounds just get enabled randomly when a tank gets 10m away from you.
APFDS spall has felt horrendous, russian autoloaders and fueltanks continue to act as spall liners.
HSTVL darts can barely penetrate a russian tank from the side, even a slight angle and you will not pen, maybe time to listen to Spookstons research about the realistic dart.
Every single toptier game ends in 5 minutes to spawncamp because 1 team leaves. Which causes that even if you carry the game you get 6 kills and 5K RP. Good luck researching 400k+ RP per vehicle.
Right now toptier is not balanced if russia isnt on both teams fighting itself.

T90M and T90M arena are same BR even tho 1 is a clear upgrade so raise the BR once again to balance it. Leopard 2PL and 2RI are different BR to compare to this.

People who buy 1 premium at lvl5 shouldnt play with people who have lvl100 and the entire tech tree.
Right now if you buy a 12.0 premium, you will play nothing but those 5 minute games ending in spawncamp and get a bad experience.

The bushmaster slop needs to stop, or buff them enough to make them actually worth it to play.

You need to do a major update with 0 vehicles, 0 premiums and FIX THE GAME, volumetric issues, sound issues, abandoning games after 1 death and lets say it. The bias issues.

Your game isn’t finished, fix it and you will make more money by people staying and buying products in the long run.

The biggest screw up with copy paste vehicles IMO has been the M44/M55 debacle. You lazily copy pasted this vehicle into multiple trees in a WW2 BR, where many of the nations it was given to have domestic designs which would be around the same BR.

The Hummel is the perfect example, the German tree has so many domestic designs for that BR and the M44/55 were NOT required, but it was an easy, effortless way to add ‘content’.

Plus they’re stupid point and click adventures that ruin a lot of balance at the BR but that’s another topic entirely.

F-14 IRIAF is in the tech tree os a Israel-owned country and I don’t hear much about it

To which they will say, “but but the Hummel wasn’t ready”
It was in the files for at least 10 years, and after all this “work”, Gaijin cared so much about it that they made it a hogepoge of late and early variants.
smells like lies and deceit.

that’s were prototypes and non meta vehicles comes in handy, they are not suited for the masses, but still interesting to play, even when they’re only gimmicky.

so why don’t you remove the CP vehicles when the nations own alternative is implemented?

There’s no point playing the game to face the same meta vehicles over and over, even more when they are copy-paste everywhere. Having CP as a stop gap measure is a good thing, but only if they are replaced once their alternative is implemented.

I honestly don’t have a big problem with duplicate or “copy-paste” vehicles.

Of course, unique vehicles are always more interesting, and I understand why many players prefer them. But in many cases duplicate vehicles are historically accurate and also useful for gameplay.

Many countries used the same or very similar vehicles during and after WWII, and this became even more common during the Cold War with NATO and Warsaw Pact equipment. The same is true for modern aircraft such as the F-4, F-16, Tornado, Eurofighter and eventually the F-35.

For smaller trees, copy-paste vehicles can also be the only realistic way to fill BR gaps and make lineups playable. Having only one vehicle at a certain BR is often worse than having a duplicate that actually helps the lineup.

Maybe one possible improvement could be a discount system: if a player has already researched or spaded the same vehicle in another tree, researching and spading the duplicate version could require less RP.

I respect players who want more unique vehicles, but sometimes a useful copy-paste vehicle is better than having nothing at all.
