Duplicate Vehicles: Why We Add Them

Yes. it broke immersion, dilluted the tech trees and added more grind. So much win!

russian leopards and abrams are not exactly copy and paste, because they are not in the TT. But what I mentioned above, there are only camouflage changes.

As a Thai player from small community, no matter how much we want VT-4 in a tech tree, our voices just can’t complete with the massive group opposing it (and we all know exactly who they are).

also the BMPT and T-80UD are the same with the TT variants

Are you sure they are completely same? They are completely different versions.

Can you find t80ue1, t72av,su39 mig23ml on the TT?

yes T-80U, T72B, SU-25T, MIG-23MLD all are the same with = minor differences

Yeah, I think there was statistics somewhere here that showed just how many players of this game are (PRC) Chinese, so it’s not surprising. That said from what I’ve seen they still enjoy playing the tank. They might not be the target audience, they might not have been the ones to ask for it, but they are by no means a reason not to add it.

When War Thunders nations are set up of multiple nations, Gaijin has to consider that each have their respective fanbases and want to see their vehicles. There is players that want PRC vehicles, players that want ROC vehicles, players that want both and players that want neither. Some players even don’t care about nations, only isolated gameplay. There is many kinds of players, and ideally the game should be something that all of them can enjoy as much as possible.

“Minor changes”? Have you played these vehicles?

I think Singaporean vehicles shouldn’t be split. No nation deserves that treatment. There is already a Singaporean vehicle in game, it wouldn’t be fair to Singaporean players if they couldn’t make lineups with it.

If they add Singapore, but split them, they are signaling that they value them less than other nations, which should never happen.

For the moment Greece has Leo 2A6HEL. There was a talk to update the Leo 2 A4 to 2A7HEL , but i don’t remember something happening with it.

yes the tt variants, tell me what’s so different between them? the t72av has thermals, the su39 a radar pod, the LM is the same with the MLD, and the T-80-E1 has better thermals again i believe

the only thing i dont like is for example the AJS37 (Early)
its identical, nothing early about it

why not make it a specific number version or squadron version
that would be more interesting and make more sense

First I don’t agree with your “minor changes”, the armor, thermal image, weapons are all important improvements. Second, tell me what is a copy and paste? Vehicles with “minor changes” or only camouflage changes like:
2026-06-26 190003
2026-06-26 185850
2026-06-26 185909
2026-06-26 185938
2026-06-26 185949
2026-06-26 185807

its the exact same

wow better thermals such a big difference

both of them and copy paste is the best for premiums

Both are reskins, wdym?

And also it has 4 more kh25mpu with wide array of available bands. While su25t is stuck to 2 kh58 (so its impossible to cover all bands with one loadout) despite having mpu in nuclear thunder event.

If 0.3 BR difference is not big, I don’t see any point that our conversation should continue
edit:
You must think they are all copy and pastes

In my opinion C&P are the camo changes.
Now the “minor changes” , depends how they affect gameplay. If for example they have different thermals , but of the same level , yes that’s practically C&P. If the thermals of the premium are better and affect your gameplay because it gives you better capabilities, it’s not C&P exactly…It’s " i give you a better vehicle for money" .
And the " i give you better vehicle for money" is not a good thing, even for “minor” things , because you open a whole new can of worms.

The camouflage reskin is much worse.

That’s actually a decent point. Maybe it should be that you can still do regular progression through the minor tree. So you can just research Greece by fully researching all vehicles (for full RP price) through the Greek tree. But once you already own an F-4, you can research the small modifications of the planes and in other trees for a much smaller RP cost since you already have researched the vehicle somewhere else.

I just think copy-paste vehicles should be linked somehow, and not have people researching (and re-spading!!) the same vehicle over and over.

AND split off minor nations from major nations into their own trees. And then somehow fix the ‘gap’ / ‘no-lineup’ issue in other ways: gamemodes with respawns like EC, creating lineups from ‘coalitions’ of nations, etc.

That would solve major complaints people have with copy-paste vehicles I think.
No more F-16 and leopards in French tree (but a much smaller BeNeLux tree), less grind of copy-paste planes again and again.
