Dead-man mechanics are ruining TSS

Su-27SM in tournaments? isn’t it just good for dogfights since R-77 is absolute 🐶💩?

Look at the replay linked

Its not meant to be played as a dogfighter, but as a pure BVR plane

Hmm… Though the problem is the same and so is the solution

Funny how it works out like that when the similarly massive F-14 is a fireball just waiting to happen from the smallest damage.

Edit: also the Tu-128 is still the largest “fighter” in the world, it’s significantly larger and heavier

all i saw was u spamming R-77s to a poor Su-27SM and the half-dead one spamming also missiles to u and ur J-10A teammate.

i mean yeah it’s a good missile but just if u’re near and below it, if u’re above it then it’s pretty ez to fool and has no range compared to anything else. whatever yeah it looks cool for Tournaments.

is the Su-30SM allowed for Tournaments? or it’s not just like SM2?

with the difference that F-14 has no HMD and irl it exploded before even taking off cuz the engines’ fatal flaw was enormously deadly.

Abolutely, its the same problem, but this post in specific is about tss gameplay, bc things like the replay that was linked.
And also yes, the solution is very easy, in TSS customs, if you hit the enemy at all, the game should insta J–You-Out

Well that’s not exactly true it’s more like the F-14A (Early) engines were just not good at slow speeds and liable to stall in flight. But I digress. Far as I know the F-14 was known to be fairly rugged IRL. In the game it’s basically a fireball the instant you get a scratch from anything.

Or better modeling for aircraft damage models including wiring to the wings, which is easily destroyed and thus prevent weapons being fired as well as modeling any and all G induced by the flat spinning, if its severe enough, it could cause G-lock and also prevent you from firing.

Couple with much better damage models overall, with aircraft far more frangible than they currently are, and perhaps some damage buffs to AAMs as Im sure many are underperforming in that regard… the issue goes away.

They could also make the weapons themselves damagable when still mounted to the airframe, they’ve already done this to a degree with bombs, but could be taken further and missiles could be damaged by shrapnel and thus disabled.

They did kinda start this with:

but it got reverted in days

I mean, of course, i though i was going to die, but my plane wasnt hit

None, this is the current lineup for 4v4

Spoiler

And this is the lineup for the 2v2 @NoCatBoysInTSS and I played

Su-34 looks like a cool option with R-77 and the absurdly high amount of R-27ETs it can carry.
J-11B too, and Mirages…well they have MICAs.

AFAIK every single fighter pilot out there is trained to immediately eject if they take a hit, they’re worth more than the plane they fly.

I do recall a couple of examples where they dont.

Like Tornado GR1s during Op Granby often tried to distance themselves from the targets they just bombed, even if they could see half the airframe on fire because it increased their chances of being able to escape and only ejected when the stick stopped working. (as described in Tornado by John Nichols)

and there was an Argentine Pilot during the Falkalnds that took a hit from a Sidewinder and limped back to Port Stanley airfield, though unfortunately, there was a break down in communication and he was shot down and killed by Argentine SPAAGs defending Port Stanley Airfield (as described in Harrier 809 by Rowland White)

Dont forget the F-15 that landed with no wing after an A2A collision.

So it is a bit of a judgement call, usually if they have control, they might remain, but if htey are flatspinning, they are gone.

Personally. I would like the choice to remain to a degree. Can I limp back to base and try to land? I should be allowed to try. But that should be it. Limping, 0 combat ability at all

Yeah but Gaijin thinks it’s more fun (?) to fight to the death even if your vehicle should be incapable of doing anything in reality :v

That old trailer with the silly “there is a beast inside” being their literal advertisment to push that

ETs don’t kill good players anymore with the skill level there is, maybe there are some kills but very occasionally, also, you get the same ammount of missiles +2 R-73 in a better FM playing the Su-27.

Same ammount of missiles as J-10A, but in a worse-everything plane

Indeed, current meta in 4v4 alongside Su-27SM

Argentina! :D

I worry about implementation.

I fear for it affecting normal live game modes and also affecting WW2 brackets.

Because again: damage to horizontal stabilizer counts as “severe damage”/kill, but you quite easily survive such damage and might suffer such while in a defensive scissors or the like then reverse the opponent for a kill (in fact - I have a Yak-9 game where I did just that: 109G shot my horizontal stabilizer black, we went into a rolling scissors, he overshot and I got the kill. Recently I had similar where a yak tore up my F4U while I was in rolling scissors before overshooting and getting shot down by me).

Better solution is to just make weapons and weapons systems possible to be damaged similar to traction of control surfaces.

Edit:

Earlier today I had a case of getting just that. I hit this guy and got a “severe” damage but he remained more than capable of still fighting and trying to reverse me. We fought for 1 more minute after that and an auto-eject would have been deeply unfair I feel.

isn’t the J-11B better for dogfights and BVR? it has more range, TWS+ and can DL up to 6 missiles (the max amount of ARH missiles for it) while carrying R-73 which is way better than PL-8B for Tournaments (i guess).

i mean, Flankers are quite good for dogfights thx to their energy retention (which has been improved a few weeks/months ago), thrust, maneuverability and very good control/nose authority at low speeds, and the J-11B is basically a Su-27 with Su-27SM technology while weighting a bit less (as i remember, since i heard Stix tell me it was lighter).

The J-11 is better for the ratefight, but if the BVR plane is in a dogfight something went really wrong, also neither the J-10 or the J-11B can carry R-73, maybe you mixed the planes or i am interpreting wrong your post.

Are you taliking about J-11B vs J-10
Or J-11B vs Su-27SM?

yeah i just remembered both don’t have R-73 except J-11 and J-11A, i still don’t know what does the B version have that it doesn’t carry R-73 like the A version.
