Ships and aircraft have different standards and that’s been made clear for a very long time now since some of the earlier Naval developer Q&A when we started to introduce cruisers and battleships.
Incomplete aircraft are only considered as a last resort when there is no other reasonable alternative close. In this case, the reasonable alterative for the F-111K here is the F-111C. It was clear there was demand for an Aardvark in the British tree, so the best alternative was found with the C as the need for it to ever be present in the American tree was going to be satisfied with the F.
Incomplete ships were already outlined as a distinct possibility for some nations as ship completion / circumstances are very different to aircraft.
The report was only forwarded yesterday. As you can imagine, its the weekend currently, so we wont have many answers flowing on the next major that haven’t already been determined.
There isn’t really a lot of people moaning about the F-111C at all. Many people are quite happy to see it.
Naturally there is always going to be some disagreement with practically every addition in some way. You cant please every last person, but we will at least aim for the majority.
True true, oh speaking of why does Mike keep saying AM for Japan when speaking about the F-16 ?
Is he talking about the Belgium one or is there another F-16 planned for Japan ?
Please check the second part of that statement for your answer:
“We’d like to note that we are continuing to work on filling the British ground forces tree, which will include various armored, infantry fighting vehicles, and light tanks. These are planned for the future.”
At the time when the T-90 was added, we made it clear that our immediate priority was going to be other domestic British vehicles. In this case it was the Vickers Mk 11, Fox, Challenger 3 TD, Desert Warrior and Stormer AD.
People were at the time making it very clear this was what they wanted to be the priority (lights / IFVs and domestics), and we continued to follow that. Those further commonwealth vehicles are still within our longer term plans. This article was simply outlining our long term and short term plans for the British tree.
Honestly, the developers could have added the supposed F-111K livery (skin) as an option for the recent Australian F-111C, and that would have resolved further disputes…
Personally, while I no longer play the US nor do I play the UK, I think it’s preferable for it to be in the US tree because the UK didn’t need it and all this does is split up the Australian top tier vehicles.
It’s not any different from the Tornado GR.1 right now, and when they add the extra pylons I’m not sure who in their right minds would even take the extra bombs in air since that forces you to remain subsonic.
Edit: just to be clear, the Tornado moves 12x 1000 pound bombs while the F-111C while supersonic moves 24x 500. Unless you just really want to carpet bomb in ground RB, they aren’t very different at all in terms of bomb capability.
I would prefer if the Aim-9L was removed completely from aircraft like the F-16C/D Barack II and F-15C Baz and replaced with the Python 3. No point in adding the 9L when this is an option if you ask me.
