CV 90 MK.IV data and discussion

I wanted to open up a discussion and a place to share sources for the upcoming CV 90 MK.IV for Sweden .
I have previously tried to make a suggestion for this a while back but didn’t structure it well (at all) at the time.

Images and renders i have previously saved from BAE

(Some bonus images of the new Swedish CV9035 MK-III recently procured can be found here, has the MK.III body but MK.IV turret)

The CV90 system from BAE Hägglunds (general info).

The MkIV (compared to the MkIII that Denmark uses) includes primarily digital and electronic upgrades but also a bigger engine, better transmission and the new D-serries turrets with Active protection and ATGM missiles.

Some sources and info i have previously saved:

  1. Armor level STANAG 4569 Level 6 (with upgraded base hull armor, No idea how much, the brochures and videos just mention “better protection” and “better protected” than its predecessors) .

  2. [Info on gun goes here soon™]

  3. 620 kW Scania DP 1000 horsepower diesel engine and the Caterpillar X-300 HD transmission.

  4. UTAAS sight with added IRST module (as seen on LVKV9040C)

  5. AKERON Fire and Forget ATGM missiles (Spike launchers instead for balance?)

  6. Barracuda system for IR/Optical/Radar/thermal camouflage.

  7. Commander Periscope with third gen thermals that can Automatically search for air targets.

  8. Active Hard-kill (or soft-kill) protection system

Work In Progress, some things might not apply to the in game version due to the CV90 system being so very modular.

£10 says it still doesn’t get optical air tracking.

Well, the DEV server is Work In Progress, but…

DING DING DING! we have a winner! XD

Should be easily reported though, lots of sources for it :)

Hägglunds did test but, but did they ever actually implement the SPIKE LR.
As far as i can remember, just at the top of my head so to speak, we actually ditched it for the Akeron MP ?

wait what? how modern IFV don’t have it?

Well, current dev cv90mkiv have no irst, no ABM, no APS. The engine is 884hp by stock and engine mod adds up to 995 or 967 (I’m not really sure what the '‘horse power to drive wheels’ means). Commander sight is currently copy-paste of cv90120’s.
The dual feeding mechanism seems to be different on this one, a second belt of 74 rounds exist even when running on full sabot (but having a second type of shell seems to take the place of the 74 round belt). Having 1 first type and 2 second type belts seems to f**k the mechanism, resulting in just two 80 round belts. So I think it’s more like a bug rather than a dual-feed rework.
I feel like they specifically chosen the ‘worst’ variant of the mkiv, with 30mm instead of 35mm and the commander mast won’t extend. Not to mention the lack of APS

IIRC the Netherlands MLU integrated the Spike LR2 into its CV9035NL. Not sure though. But i’ve seen several places mention that spikes are a possibility.

Edit:
Spikes has been integrated during development of the MK.IV:

The IRL version does, just not the current vehicle in the development server. but the development server isn’t the final product so they might fix it before the update goes live :)

Well, it is DEV so still work in progress, many things might still change before it goes live and we have many sources to pull from if a report is needed :)

The version on the in-game vehicle does not extend IRL either i think, there are several different commanders sights to choose from when “building” a CV 90.

Although agree with the 30mm gun choice…

I dont really understand why they choose to implement this model, a prototype that is not in actual service. We (Sweden) just ordered the CV9035 Mk.III C with D turret including Akeron MP and more updated features. This will be a difficult vehicle with a weird place. It should be dropped in BR, the 30mm will do absolutely nothing and the Spikes (which we dont use) wont do it any good for that BR…

Albeit i suppose they choose the Spike since they are already modelled for ease of implementation. But they should still have given it the 35mm canon and D turret…

I honestly don’t mind this version as an interim addition (with some minor adjustments).
There is still a possibility for a future higher BR version with AKERON and like 35mm or 50mm canon, with APS (which this version also really should have) and all the bells and whistles etc.

As an interim vehicle fine but it still needs a lower BR i think

update, the engine is actually 1000 hp if full mod. Some how the numbers from stock and mod description doesn’t add up to 1k (maybe I’m going crazy or sth).
Also the dual feed thing when having 1 first type and 2 second type belts actually has 3 belts as normal. Just not displayed for some reason. You can actually keep firing after both belts says 0 ammo. So I’m pretty sure that’s a bug

I would rather hope they fix the 9040 bill ATGM launcher than add something similar to 9030(

I don’t mind the variant we got but dear god it needs to go down in BR. This is just a FIN but slightly faster and some near-useless spikes. It should not be higher than 10.0.

CV90 MK4’s weight is also weird. Hopefully it’s a bug but it is 38 tons with little to no huge additional features or protection. For reference the CV9035NL is 34 tons with bigger gun, composite roof & composite side armor.

Something is not right with the cv90mk4 weight.
I will quote this:
“With a new engine, the MkIV boasts up to 1,000 horsepower and the latest upgraded X300 heavy-duty transmission. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is increased from 35 tonnes to 38 tonnes, offering users three tonnes of extra payload without a decrease in vehicle agility. The CV90 will be the first Western IFV with a qualified Active Protection System.”
CV90MkIV | BAE Systems

As it says… “The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is increased from 35 tonnes to 38 tonnes”
The way i interpret it is that the chassis can handle 38 tons. NOT that every cv90mk4 is 38 tons. It is a modular platform after all. Weight should go up or down depending on how the vehicle is configured.

if the cv90(30)mk4 is 38 tons now-
what will the cv90(35)mk4 weigh? 38 too?
is the cv90(50)mk4 also 38 tons?

It’s weight is probably misinterpreted.

You might be on to something here, gross weight is the vehicle weight plus max permissible load.

Wierd to add this when it was just announced (few weeks ago) that the Strf 9040 is gonna get replaced with Cv 9035 mkIIIC in the swedish army which is mostly the same to the Cv9030 mk 4 aside from the gun and iron fist aps.

i don’t think anything you said here is correct :P
