ROC flag should not offend you. There is an option to do it
Adding the flags functionality is a great idea, and makes me chuckle at all the silly things I can do. If it is added to the base game I shall be turning the German TT into a Polish TT, and the British TT into a Polish TT.
My only regret is that the Russian TT cannot be turned into a Polish TT. At least then it would further cement my fantasy in that the T-72B is a poorly rendered PT-91 Twardy. Maybe the US too since they use Abrams(premium/event vehicle when((kidding))?)…
Man, I really wish we had a Polish TT…
Finally, the flag of ROC should also be added, as it is just a game and their vehicles are officially recognized by Gaijin themselves as a national subtree. Tanks in this game are represented with the flags that they serve under, and the tanks of the ROC officially serve under the flag of the ROC. The flag is already in the game as a purchasable decal. The tanks are distinguished separately as a subtree with a separate flag on their stat card.
It really should be simple as that.
So we are to believe that, Gaijin Entertainment will be adding the Republic of China (Taiwan) national flag for the tech tree flag customization function instead of Republic of China Army flag?
Well why don’t you just say that? That would clear up all the misunderstanding!
LMAO None of u were crying for NAZI flag in game but now the flags are “not political”
In 1945, the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression ended and Japan surrendered. According to the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation, Taiwan’s sovereignty was returned to China and was taken over by the Nationalist Government, which represented China at that time. This is clear in international law. Taiwan has never been an independent entity but a part of China’s territory.
On October 1, 1949, the People’s Republic of China was founded and Beijing became the seat of the central government. After the Kuomintang troops retreated to Taiwan, they continued to use the old banner of “The Republic of China”, claiming that they were the legitimate successors.
In 1971, United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 was adopted, and the People’s Republic of China replaced the “Republic of China” as China’s sole legitimate representative to the United Nations.

I feel the best is to keep reinforcing the fact that ROC (or more commonly Taiwan) is ingame, the flag is ingame in decal form and having both chinese flags is the least political option, since it shows no favouritism to either. Their arguments about recognition or the “nazi flag” argument should be treated as null and void.
Yes.
Easiest and fairest option is not giving asides and adding both flag at the beginning.
Because you are PRC-sided player
Because Political discussion is not allowed in the forum
But you are the one who drew that sword and keep stabbing everyone ffs.
Yeah, one day I want to play my F-84G with blue jackets
And on another day, I want to play my Q-5A with a red jacket.
I really am unsure why this thing becomse political issue again and again :/
This doesn’t contradict anything. It only further proves, ROC having existed at some point is global consensus. ROC existed until:
- 1949 according to mainland China where the founding of the PRC government directly replaced them
- 1971 according to UN resolution 2758
Some nations like Guatemala, Eswatini or Vatican City even recognize them today still, though this is limited to 11 nations only.
But when it existed / if it still exists is entirely irrelevant when nations like the GDR or German Empire get their flags. Neither are Germany today, but both were in the past.
Everyone agrees they at least existed in the past, so adding their flag to represent a common historical fact cannot be an issue. If it is added it’s on each player to decide their political standing and if they want to express it (in a way other players can’t even see mind you), while Gaijin is entirely neutral.
Seems my reason is similar, but the exact opposite side.
I saw mainland players want to gatekeep it
So I came here to defend it.
Hello, I have no stance at all. I don’t want to quarrel or debate. I’m just supplementing historical facts with popular science
It’s so strange that my comments were blocked just for popular science knowledge. I’m dying of laughter
Exactly my point!
Ah fair enough, I think it was a very nice summary of the history presented in an objective way.
I was very much referencing what I said in my original reply. The reddit absolutely has become a place verging on open racism (Though I suppose that isn’t that rare for reddit).
Users that are pushing political propaganda in a video game should be treated as anyone else doing the same, trolls that don’t deserve any attention. But from my perspective it’s always been easier to group bad actors with a whole community because they’re from a different outgroup.
The VT-4 discussion is 100% valid, though the timing was a bit insensitive. I tbh could not care what vehicle goes to what tree if there’s good enough justifications for it.
No one takes Reddit seriously, and rightly so
Seriously? Yeah.
It’s insane how they’re keeping the Third Reich flag, keeping the IJA flag but somehow, the flag of the ROC and even, Taiwan is an issue now?
We all know why it’s like this but in my opinion, if you’re going to remove ROC/Taiwanese flags, then you’re also going to remove Taiwanese vehicles or move them under another nation if you don’t want them so badly.
Simple and efficient.
I agree with you tho, it’s disrespectful to modify history just to appeal to a specific community of people who like to complain every five minutes when something doesn’t go their way.
Honestly I take the same stance as the SK/NK guys.
Be thankful you get more vehicles to play in your tree. Why are people ruining a good and fun things for the rest of us.
I think this is something that happens a lot in this game, and other games too for that matter. With the way the game is set up, promoting each player to pick a single faction by simply making it incredibly time consuming to branch out, it is easy to see others as this in-game opponent even outside of the game.
With the Chinese community I feel like there is another big divide by the large national community outside of english speaking official forums which creates more perceived distance, even if many Chinese players are active on the forum too. This also happens with the Russian national community for similar reasons.
I don’t think this is a good way of thinking, at the end of the day we’re all just players trying to enjoy the game. We all want the game to be fair and fun, so we shouldn’t see eachother as enemies, even when there is disagreements.
This seems to be true. The opposite is also seen before, where the Chinese community is generally more active on national forums and following that there are many issues with Chinese technology in game that are well known to Chinese players but just not often discussed on the official forum until the recent backlash here.
I agree, any nation that has a home should have its flag locked to the home tree. Just anything to differentiate what has a home in that tree and what is there becuse Gaijin felt like it
