In the same vein, the marketplace as it currently is is downrigth awful and needs a serious rework too.
To be honest I’d even say I want unique event vehicles because themed events are the perfect way to get a lot of interesting off-meta vehicles that might not be best placed in the techtree, something like the Sturmtiger.
The only thing I don’t like is that after the event is over there is no way to get it.
Even something like a system where you could (for example) take 3 vehicle coupons and combine them to get one earlier event vehicle could work. This way you could still get them later, but at three times the cost / effort.
Only issue here is the marketplace, which wouldn’t be able to oversell when the most expensive vehicle is never worth more than three of the least expensive, but there’s other more thought out ideas out there anyways.
Yeah, once in a life time chance where you’ll have to play the game for days on end.
Doesn’t seem fair to me.
The obvious one out there would of course be the free RP suggestion, though I think I’d prefer a system akin to what Lesta implemented in their version of WoWs: Repair Dock.
It’s quite simple: while you play the game, you have a chance to obtain a “structure” of a premium ship (or in WT’s case: a non-TT vehicle), after which this ship appears in the corresponding tab called Repair Dock in a damaged state. You then need to grind more “structures” to complete the repair of the ship (simply earned by playing), after which it is added to your collection and you can take it out to battle. If you earned a “structure” belonging to a ship you already have, it is turned into a blank “structure” which have a ratio of 1:10 (10 blanks equal 1 ship-unique “structure”)
Now I don’t play WoWs anymore, and never did so on Lesta’s version, so this is all the info I could get from the associated devblog, but I do think this could provide the base for a similar system in War Thunder that can satisfy both us players and Gaijin, since there’s room to create a system that allows a player to grind something entirely for free, or complete it faster with monetisation. It also wouldn’t undermine the marketplace too much either.
Of course, knowing Gaijin, they’d implement something like this in such a way that earning a vehicle for free would be nigh impossible, but oh well… one can dream.
better than paying 80$
Premium vehicles should ideally be versions of TT vehicles
For example, instead of the F-14D it should’ve been an F-14B (Early) without guided bombs (so 54C/C+ and 9M + dumb bombs)
Given the quality and selection of items/vehicles that we are having recently, paying up from $20,00 to $35,00 for a mediocre vehicle is nothing sort of crazy, it’s way below the $69,99 Premium vehicle price range.
Instead, in my opinion event vehicles are getting less and less interesting, their Marketplace prices tells a lot, what the hell, how is things like Object 279 compared to CRV Block 2 in terms of event quality?
The only thing this vehicle did for the game was putting a spike launcher on the British line-up, other than that is a mediocre vehicle.
Those unique event vehicles quickly exceed that 80$ price tag.
Only when you’re buying them immediately after release.
Try a year or so later.
yea and everyone has a change do grind them, events should be unique because people waste more of their time for a non-premium but its still unique that you cant find anywhere else, if they were C&P (like the F-16) not a lot of people will do the event because they dont have to play the game a lot in 2 weeks when they can simple find the exact vehicle in the TT, meanwhile premiums don’t have to be unique, people buy premiums to grind easier, what’s the difference if they just playing a copy of the TT one? Why does the T-58 that there is nothing simiral in the TT be a premium? meanwhile the T-80U-E1 or the Clickbait are copies or a little better than the TT versions and evyroneis buying them, Premiums dont have to be unique, Events have to be
By everyone you mean people who can play the game in that 14 day period.
Others aren’t so lucky.
Romania surviving with 1 domestic SM.79 modification hidden at the bottom of a 3 plane folder:
That’s where the “R.E.L.I.C” suggestion tries to fix 😉
And technically the warbond shop but that’s more of a “random free low tier premium”, even if rare vehicles can appear there.
yea i have 35 million free RP, gaijin should let me spend it somewhere
There’s your one year and six months later and a few weeks later:

FV4030/3 is not bad, don’t get me wrong but if I’m going to spare my time for a vehicle that can be found on the tech tree with similar performance then why bother getting through the event? That’s why I advocate for unique vehicles regardless if someone may lose the chance of getting the vehicle, I’ve took the time to go through the event, I’ve bought the stars for a entire event, I’ve missed some events, that’s how the thing works.
France is a great example on why event vehicles are dry and events itself are degrading with the “fast food”-like events we are having as of recently:

tech tree

respectively event and squadron vehicle
To note; the price:

I’m including the prices as an alternative way to say that those event vehicles are bad and uninteresting options, the Market usually tells how worth is the vehicle, this is a very noticeable contrast when comparing those vehicles from the new cycle compared to the older cycle (which I don’t want it to return, is just my complain).
And a Dutch F-16A as Premium vehicle, in the French tech tree.
I doubt FV4030/3 is all that unique.
Now add something truly unique and you’ll see the price.
Yes, but the main argument against unique premiums is the price tag.
Which is the same thing that’ll happen to unique event vehicles.
kv8 is unique and cost like10$, and they are like 40 vehicles in the marketplace that cost above 80$ and half of them and maybe more have TTs equivalents
FV4030/3 is indeed not exactly unique, at most it’s a Challenger Mk.2 with slightly better power-to-weight ratio but same armor, firepower and mobility at lower battle rating, that’s where is “unique”. Very few of the vehicles we can consider unique really has an absurd price of above the $35,00 (35GJN) mark; Object 292, Churchill AVRE Petard, F-14A IRIAF, FIROS 6, F-106A, EFV, AK-225, MiG-25PD, IJN Tosa, KV-8 and Spitfire Kv Vb (Float) from the new cycle:
(In order from oldest to newest)

And I’m being generous, only four of these actually burst the $35,00 price range. Obviously reaching to an consensus on what’s unique is complicated, but I think those should be counted as such because they bring something fairly new as mechanic or are very exclusive vehicles like the Object 292 as the highest penetration value in a penetrator in a tank in-game, or EFV as the fastest amphibious vehicle.
In instances like the F-14A IRIAF what mostly dictated its price was its initial battle rating, the same happens on the opposite for vehicles like EFV as you might be aware 30 mm Bushmaster Mk.II autocannons are not the most pleasing to play, specially without an anti-tank missile and specially in such large silhouette vehicle.
Which again, to be completely honest: if I’m going to spare my time to get some event vehicle its best that is worth it, either gameplay-wise or in the marketplace if I’m interested in selling it, I don’t care if someone else missed the event, that’s part of the event either you take part of it or miss. Make event vehicles worth the time or discontinue event as a whole.
Which regarding Premium vehicles, in this same thread me and others have gave their ideas how to fix or at least improve the situation;
Don’t forget about IS-7 and 279.
Two iconic vehicles basically unobtainable because they were a part of an event years ago.
You’re still locking unique vehicles behind a paywall and adding a massive layer of uncertainty on top of that.
Plenty of those are either ships or low tier tanks or planes.
No one is forcing you to play the event if you don’t like the reward, simple as.
Locking unique things behind events is every bit anti-player as locking them behind premium wall.
Which are not part of the new cycle and is a good example of vehicles that are good and a clear constrast in comparison to the quality of vehicle chosen on the older cycle compared to the new cycle. I did listed only vehicles past Object 292 which are part of the new cycle. Object 292 is nowhere near compared to Object 279 gameplay-wise.
Indeed they are, which comes to the demand part of the Marketplace which also dictates the price, a lot of people wants the Object 279, but there’s not enough around so prices goes up I think how you’re saying here is that either Marketplace is a problem (to note the highest possible selling price is 2000GJN if I’m not mistaken). IJN Tosa (part of the new cycle) is on my opinion a good vessel, 7th in the highest kill-death ratio according to StatShark, comparatively to other vessels has the highest caliber and fastest reload-rate. For a 410 mm cannon, 24-seconds is stupidly fast, for contrast Bismarck’s 380 mm cannons reaload just 2-seconds faster.
And no one is forcing the user to buy a stupidly overpriced vehicle, simple as. As I said before: “Make event vehicles worth the time or discontinue event as a whole.”;
How event vehicles are handled in the Marketplace is Gaijin’s fault. Gaijin could easily return those iconic vehicles in some sort of special events but I doubt that this will ever happen, in the meanwhile I’d prefer unique vehicles being exclusive to events, I’ve talked further regarding event vehicles in this post but in summary is: Recent event vehicles is not worth the task (45,000 range for a mediocre vehicle is too much if said vehicle is not going to be fun or worth the time wasted on).
Locking unique premium vehicles is anti-player, making an event for unique vehicle were everyone at least Rank III in the vehicle’s respective branch is not, how it’s done in the Marketplace afterwards is another whole issue.
