If you don’t want to read all the text, in summary I’m complaining about this issue represented in the image below:
Originally, event vehicles were unique and exclusive highlights, symbolizing the dedicated hours of work by men and women to create machines ready for combat or to honor fighters who distinguished themselves in battles due to their exceptional skills. Additionally, these events served as a valuable tool to spark players’ interest in lesser-explored nations and vehicles within the game.
However, since the announcement of the new event cycle, this tradition has lost its special character. Most event vehicles can no longer maintain a market value above 50 GJN, with prices often stagnating between 20 GJN and 30 GJN, even in the best scenarios. This degradation affects both collectors and enthusiasts, who seek to experience new content, as well as players aiming to profit from resales — since depreciation reduces financial returns and motivation to participate in events.
List of vehicles since Call of the Dragon (older to newest)*
*note that Battleships tend to have higher prices than usual aircraft and ground vehicles
A recent example is the Eye in the Sky event, which introduced the Meteor FR Mk.9 without any additional elements to justify it as an event vehicle, aside from decals. This pattern began to solidify with the Call of the Dragon event, which marked the start of the shift in War Thunder’s event cycle. From Mobile Sniper onward, the situation worsened: vehicles became superficial variations of models already present in the tech tree or previous events, offering no genuinely new experiences.
I don’t have a definitive solution to the problem, but it’s evident that event vehicles need to reclaim their original purpose. They should be exclusive, introducing novel mechanics, historical prototypes (like the Object 292), or even unconventional designs (such as the Churchill Petard). It would also be timely to use these events to introduce nations not yet represented in the game, with iconic and fun vehicles like the F-14A IRIAF.
If the only way to resolve this crisis is to return to the old cycle — featuring creative vehicles that add value to the game — I fully support it. However, maintaining the current vicious cycle of repetition and lack of innovation only demotivates players, whether they aim to collect, play, or profit. Without changes, there’s no reason to continue investing time in events that contribute little to the game’s experience.
