Well not exactly with “range”.

ARHs only go terminal, ie. Activate their onboard radar, at 16km distance. Any further and they fly on combination of IOG and your radar data fed through data link.

So its not as much about range as it is about hit probability.

Yes or right, whatever is easier to enter and gets you closer to team mates.

Up and down manuevers are there to help defat the IOG.

im a little new to all these missile terms, what does going terminal mean exactly? what’s IOG and i assume by activating their onboard radar means that they track on their own?

Terminal is, I think, when the missile starts tracking by itself. IOG ( In-Ordnance Guidance) is Inertial guidance more or less.

Inertial navigation. In relation to the missile, basically it remembers your speed and direction before radar contact was broken and will fly off its memory.

I dont want to sound like an ass, but youre nearly at gripens, ie. at the end of swedish TT, which i assume you grinded entirely with JA37Di, and you dont know what youre flying with?
