Constant connection problems over the last week

You mean like, the assumptions I have about someone who keeps their forum profile hidden? Cause in my experience that’s a thing only wannabe trolls do.

Someone else in this thread mentioned it, and I avoided it for good reason…

Nope, because what happens is people assume you don’t play the game if you haven’t got over XX games recently, and it does nothing at all for discussion.

But also because we reported the issue with it, and Stona didn’t take much note of it, so I just kept it hidden, because I cbfed changing it back, but also for the previous reason… The details it gives, aren’t encouraging any sort of discussion.

I have no idea why you’re so antsy about me posting and trying to rip into me personally, but it’s highly indicative of a feel around this forum…

And to bring this back around…

Diagnosis and taking on board the advice given is a simple task many choose not to do… It’s sad to think that such an ‘influential’ ‘partner’ wouldn’t do even the bare minimum before making a video to rile up a good portion of his audience…

So tonight my friend from Canada and I played Air Arcade and again PL came back. I have wireshark installed and was doing packet captures. We were playing on server IP 89.43.104.166, started getting packet loss, and then noticed we were playing on 172.240.109.60, played for a bit, started getting PL, and switched back to 89.43.104.166.

You can’t possibly expect them to know that certain subsections of the internet that they haven’t got dirfect handling of, is having trouble based on a handful of people in the wider scheme of things saying they’re experiencing it.

And you can’t possibly expect them to just trust your word that you’re not on wifi or that your internet is working fine, or that an update didn’t just drop and on something else it downloads…

That is after all a few steps you’re missing from coming to a conclusion that it’s actually the servers.

And this all avoids the point of who genuinely reported it with all the info needed compared to just saying that it’s ‘broken’.

I can because it’s widespread.

Sorry, but no. Whilst many are reporting it, it’s not as widespread as you’d want to put out.

I sent a ticket to support this morning and asked them for instructions to help diagnose this. In the meantime, since you’re a network engineer or something like that, do you have any tips to help us diagnose this?

My theory is the packet loss problem started the day they activated BattleEye(Jan14 I think). So this is BattleEye doing a check midgame to their own server.

Thanks for asking, but yea, with the sense of ‘when’ it started, just be mindful of coincidence.

That release was staggered, the main vanilla clients got it first, then steam did.

I’d not lean to this assumption as that’s pure guess.

Just be sure to give as much as you are requested from the ticket, and be sure to really provide everything, no matter how trivial it seems.

packet loss - Reddit Search!

There have been more posts about packet loss in the past 7 days then there have been in the past 2 months. That is a 7.7x increase in complaints per day. And a major content creator has made a video on it.

Sounds pretty widespread to me.

That’s absolutely a dumb metric to put as that search and post statement is so common that it’s actually unfortunate to even have to consider how many people share internet and actua;lly game on wifi anyway…

And a spam of threads, doesn’t make the point for you.

It is not battle eye, can confirm.

I got battle eye well before this.

My reply to FlyingDoctor: If you’re only going to reply with variants of “nuh uh” “totally coincidence” and “diagnose it”, please either diagnose it yourself and provide a fix to this issue which can be readily replicated by users experiencing it, or contribute in some productive manner to gaining the required attention for this to be worth Gaijin’s time to fix, or just abandon this thread if you think people are engaging with you in bad faith.

To others: Capnlunch’s solution of switching to EU servers seems to be the main fix for the time being. Some ping (maybe ~50 more than I got with NA servers before the onset of this issue) and a bit of PL (0-1% over the course of a match). That ping and PL on EU servers is more likely due to the nature of my physical distance and being in what normally would be the NA region, but it is much much less severe and rarely impacts gameplay.

The only dumb thing here is your denialism. But nah I guess all those people who have been fine before just randomly switched to wifi for no reason, including myself. My ethernet cable simply ceased to exist.

It does, have you ever heard of a “common denominator”?

I can’t test it because… dun dun duuuun… I’m not facing the issue…

It’s hardly replicatable if I’m not having the same problem.

If it’s that easy to replicate, then the diagnosis wouldn’t be that hard either.

You’re incorrect here. I have made an attempt at diagnosing it and submitted a support ticket. To which you assumed I had no response to and would have no idea whether or not I have had a response.

You’re likely not getting the issue because you spend all day here instead of playing lol

And what diagnosis have you done as pinging 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 isn’t sufficient.

Nope, I don’t get it because I don’t use the same routes as you.

From the comments people are making it’s north north america and canada that are really affected by this…

And this alone reinforces my point about it being routes, not servers.

This is you treating others like they’re inferior and 10x dumber than you. I’ve stated what I’ve done and you’re just belittling me.

I’m in Nebraska… so no… it doesn’t…

A second large patch just went out for the day. Will be interesting to hear if this improves the situation or not.

I have also been having major packet loss issues over the past week or two, in all battle modes, including today. Air/Land/Sea. It has been especially horrible in Naval battles. 2 or 3 times a game. And getting kicked back to the main menu at least every other naval game, maybe 75% of the time.

FWIW, I play Ground Arcade and Air Arcade, neither of which require BattleEye (even though I do have it enabled.) However, all naval modes require BattleEye, and this is the mode that I have had nearly constant issues with. So, it is very plausible that BattleEye is the possible source, or partial source of the issue.

North America servers, West Coast. Hard lined internet. No other issues with any other internet services, game/website/voice chat etc. Just War Thunder. I have restarted (and fully powered off for over a minute) my modem+router. Have done multiple cmd prompt /ipconfig release; /ipconfig renew commands. Deleted the game cache+compiledShaders folders, verified files afterwards. No effect or change once when I took these steps. All speed tests/ping tests/jitter tests have come back normal, the entire time.

EDIT #1 (posting link to my new post below, and will use this post to collect any future updates from me)

It’s not belittling you, I don’t know why everyone is using this word currently, but saying that is advice… Simple advice saying that that, is not diagnosis, as someone in this thread posted it up as proof…

Cool, add that to the list of places affected, because others aren’t, and that still points to it being a route issue.

You were wanting to point out that I don’t even play, which is just you looking for more excuses to ignore and dismiss… As per the mentality you came in here to tell me that people were talking about me…
