Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

I think the only thing in that bracket that’s ever presented a remote threat to me is the T-90A, and their optics and gun handling suck too bad to shoot first.

The Challenger 2’s are super fun when they’re not fighting a swarm of Leopard 2A7s and T90Ms which are 20 years newer than them.

Gaijin should really be have moved the OES and TES to 11.3, and then if they are balanced the rest of the early Challenger 2’s should go with them.

If they don’t want to do that they should actually fix them:

  • Ready rack size of 20+ rounds
  • Full hull spall liner
  • Mobility improvements
  • External armour fixes (eg. bull lower front plate dorchester block and ERA)

Add those fixes and the Challengers would be fine at 11.7, currently, at least the weakest belong at 11.3.

This all goes back to gaijins awful top tier ground compression. The base Challenger 2’s shouldnt fight Leopard 2A7s almost every game, but its also completely unfair for a 10.0 tank for example to face a Challenger 2. So they’re just stuck being “mid”.

Yep, I completely agree.

  • no fixes
  • no BR reduction
  • no decompression

And yet they wonder why we complain. It’s maddening.

To add onto your list. I’d include a dozer blade too. It’s in the files, just disabled on the base CR2. So an easy addition. It adds flavour and some different gameplay options. Imo, you can “buff” a weak vehicle not just directly but also by simply making it more fun. Weak vehicles feel bad because they aren’t as fun as stronger vehicles. Most of the buffs I want for the Tonka are the same

I agree, the dozer blade actually made the hull somewhat hard to penerate with 3BM46 and 3BM60 on the dev.

We could also get the mine plough.

I suspect they may be holding back the dozer in order to keep it as a gimmick for the Streetfighter II.

A good start would be them correcting the thickness and material of the ufp mounting plates, they should really be RHA instead of structural steel. Also, some Challengers should get their thicker 50mm UFP addon as seen below.

Yeah … Good luck bug reporting that and them actually believing it.

Though I might work on a new bug report list for a dev forum post.

I think people already have, they just don’t seem to care

Yeah, probably. It’s annoying they use bug reports as a balancing tool and they only look at player stats. If they are slightly good, the. It means nothing needs fixing

Thank you for bring it up. Now I can suggestion my master plan of all of the forum commenters that have the CR2 crash its stats so Gaijin can lower its BR

Yeah… would take a lot of effort to coordinate that.

I think a Discord server led by some of the core members of our comunity like (and I’ll call them now) @Gunjob, @Flame2512, @Firestarter assemble!!

i think the ufp block is at the 65-70 mm scale, if i remember correctly, tho yeah hard to bugreport even tho the addon dorchester lfp block does use only that + most of the “naked” challenger OES kits seen in use nowdays also use that ufp plate

We need full cammo nettings, for all of them

It’s interesting to see just how quick this thread died. Like we got to 10k posts on part 1 and then Gaijin said “Nuh uh shut up we know best, clear marketing lies” and now part 2 is just 2.2k in and it’s pretty bleak.

A lot of the people who were putting all the time and effort I think have simply given up and a few have quit the game entirely and never plan to look back

I think that’s only Legwolf. Everyone else is still here methinks.

Im fairly certain there are a few others, but yes, he would be the main one

Take a look:
