Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

ehh multiple problems , still waiting on the promised DM rework and sweden still being the better tree with 3 armored leopards

it has its real ammunition ofl f2 /f3 wouldnt make difference in the formular

and the shard is export only and not used by france

the 2A7 compared to the rest of the roster is the 2nd best tank in game, the 2a7H (is it) and strv122s are better.
I would like to see these tanks as i said in a different thread, modelled correctly and realistically.
at least germany got some love recently man, (im grinding out the PSO now )

Wouldnt it? ive seen so many folks saying so many different things.
if its no different then can at least add it

arguably 2a7v is better then 2a7hu. many people complain about HU RCWS being a HE shot trap.
And that is realy mainly the complained of german main that sweden still is the better german ground tree overall. that being said germany has a better grp then many other nations i dont deny that

many nations in game dont have their DU rounds because the formular used would just simply dont make much difference in penetration america, think russia are all the same in that
right now france do have their historical rounds and them beggin for shard is just a way to increase stuff when they dont even use it

Yeah, according to the Lanz-Odermatt formula, there is no difference in penetration at all between F1 and F2.

I don’t think Leclerc’s shell is an issue though- besides, F1 is the historical shell anyway. F2 had a limited production run and wasn’t commissioned.

Leclerc’s biggest issues are the virtually missing UFP armor, underperforming acceleration, and missing floor fuel tank bulkheads that would protect the crew and make that tank functionally external. Then there’s S.XXI missing its new armor composition and stuff like that.

reasonable thing is france getting the XLR realy, nothing much besides that, the add ons can only do so much either eay

the hull of leclers are inherintly flawed

I agree with your sentiment! But trust me, there aren’t being countless buffs to the Abrams, besides the increased reload that everyone else also got.

The late Abrams series tanks are filled with just about as many issues as the Challengers, it’s just not so noticeable since they are still slightly more meta- but believe me, they aren’t getting any better treatment than the Challengers.

Here are two lists at first glance:

Continuing the discussion from Another year without MBT fixes…?:

Regarding the Challenger MBTs:

1- Still missing lower front plate spall liners.
2- Still too small first-order ammo rack (back bin should be included).
3- Still too slow first-order ammo rack replenishment speed (twice as long as any other MBT).
4- Mantlet’s trunnion is still hollow (just because the shield has cavities it doesn’t mean it ought to be hollow; those cavities aren’t there to be left empty…)
5- Challenger 3 (TD)'s turret damage model is still a non-matching copy-paste of the pre-rework Challenger 2 turret even though a more appropiate model had already been ingame before being reverted the following update after having been corrected.
6- Challenger 3 (TD) is still missing 17 HP because the developers did not convert BHP to HP even though the engine power is correct on all other Challengers which have the same engine.
7- Challenger 3 (TD) is still the only Challenger family member to have a 6 second reload for no real reason at all, making it, all in all, barely a sidegrade if not a downgrade compared to other family members, even though it was suppossed to be the pinnacle of the British Ground tree.
8- The LFP add-on armor on TES and 2F still has different thicknesses and protection values across both tanks despite supposedly being the same armor; in both cases, WAY too low.

Regarding the Abrams MBTs:

1- Still missing a properly modelled volumetric turret ring.
2- Still missing proper fuel tank bulkhead plates’ thicknesses.
3- Still missing proper fuel tank bulkhead armor geometries/plates.
4- SEP and SEPv2 still missing the improved turret armor.
5- SEPv2 still unable to take off the dead weight called TUSK II.
6- M1A1 AIM still missing its historical KEW-A2 even though other Abrams tanks at the exact same BR use M829A2, which is even better.
7- M1A2 SEPv2 still missing its historical M829A3 shell for no particular reason even though Gaijin officially stated that it would still be balanced (at least that new shell would make it feel like an actual upgrade in ONE aspect…)

honestly neither do the leopards if anything its only the russian ones which skewed volumetrics that make them stronger then they are supposed to

leopards just are the best western export and as aresult have a lot of sources that make them easier to implement but you see on the 2a7v how gajin is completly ******** it over and using that stupid 30years ols armor test

yeah that isnt even a question anymore is it, they literally are top dog for ground vehicles.

ive seen that brought up as well, but most folks ive seen argue its better overall, I wont know, im at 8.0 for italy and 12.0 for germany so ill be getting the standard 2a7 first.

yeah seen that for the m829a3 was it? so they all sort of fall into that catogory then, nice to know about the leclerc ammo then at least someones giving a consistent clear answer.

hmm yeah I stopped the grind for em due to the plethora of issues, which i chose to get the CR2s first, what a mistake it was.

While I know the abrams arent exactly accurate (as i said in another response I want all the vehicles to be as accurate as possible , as it should be) the abrams right now in game is a very solid tank, compared to the CR2s, merkavas, arietes and somewhat the leclercs.

Morvran has a very good list of stuff thats been done against the CR2 and CR3, its seriously brutal how they are right now.

yeah that is total nonsense for every nation to be quite frank isnt it.

BTW my remark about the abrams wasnt to say the abrams is fixed and needs no work done to it yet, but in comparisson to the CR2, 3TD etc it is miles better and isnt in as much need of attention as said MBTs until were all at a more equal position with them.

Im tired of seeing the mantra of my nation is bad, no mines is worse, or this one is best its my turn to be best etc etc

unfortunately that ones never getting fixed thanks to the leak. mention the word Trunnion and Gaijin would probably hit the roof

pff that dude was genuinely thicker than mud man, how stupid can you be to share classified military documents online xd

its not the only instance unfortunately

nope theres a lot of them happened I know, its just ridiculous what do people think will happen, that this time gaijin will suddenly use it? xD

idk in the instances when its not used in bug reports secretly there is probably an element of proving that they are right and not properly dealing with the frustration of knowing the truth. Like in the le clerc instant

regardless of the instance no one should be sharing classified information. Theres an element of being an adult in situations, even if the person is right E.G with the leclerc they should never have shared it regardless, it also shafts everyone else as well, challanger 2 will enver get its right armour now is another example.

the thing is if you are making that mistake in the first place its unlikely that you have the perspective to see the future consequences

it bugs me because there are simple things to fix for challenger 2, and there are things that are harder to fix. But neither are seen to. look how long it took for them to fix the breach dust cover. a simple fix. and now, the crusader skin is broken and has been for a while, another simple fix, but its not even being looked at.

point is, no matter how difficult the problem is to fix, its clear that gaijin arn’t even looking into fixing it because not even the really easy or simple problems are fixed.

very true man very true.

yeah that breach dust cover fix which also completely borked the breach

might want to spare yourself, he wasn’t the only one.

what makes it surprising is (allegedly) he was actively serving…
