Hey @Morvran, I was wondering: what RWR sound mod are you using there?!? Sounds good…
Its called Epic Thunder, changes the sound of almost everything. Missile tones sound really good too.
It does need a patreon sub to get updates though
isnt working in the f14 either trying to locate the bases with the mk 1 eye boll
of 3 rounds i did find the base once makes me think sim is impossible without a 50in screen
Some bases on certain maps can be really hard to spot by eye. I find Sicily the worst with some on Rocky Canyon pretty tough to spot too.
Yea Sicily is just impossible to find anything
Becouse everything is just fields with buildings
It was rocky canyon were I didn’t find the bases maybe my eyes aren’t that terrible after all if others have the same problem
Other thing to note on the f14b the tss(the below the nose Camera)
Trigger’s the ccrp
Which is Great if you want to attack things on the ground
Problem is that Camera also snaps to anything the Radar locks on to
With tws radar it locks on to literally anything at Random
So wehn you then attack a base you will notice that your bombs won’t drop becouse ccrp is active (wen the radar is locked you can’t even deactivate it) so you need to delock turn of ccrp and optionaly switch from aim7 to bombs
I lost count how many bases I missed or times I just crashed because I was forced to make a last second dive bomb instead of the planed level bombing
Bit late to the topic, but from US Phantoms, all except premium F-4S have older type HUD/reticle that happens to be useless for CCRP bombing. F-4S have proper HUD, displaying exact location as well approximate time before drop to the CCRP target, when you switch sight mode to bombs that is.
And this style of HUD is used on 4th gen fighters and attackers from Harrier onwards.
That said, if aircraft have laser designator on board (identifiable simply by having access to laser guided ordnance) and you activate said laser after setting up CCRP target, pointer is visible through the cockpit… which is handy ngl. F-14B example, with dumb bombs.
I know this is an old thread, but I would like to drop my idea.
I know the GM mentioned and has noticed and wished for this system to get attention.
The main problem being the older CCRP systems being borderline useless in SB.
My suggestion: A simple heading indicator (either using the real dials in the cockpit, for navigation or what not for waypoint flying) maybe have these be functional and point towards the selected bombing mission target, and then players/aviators would still need to fly according to their new instrument to use their CCRP system. Meaning skill would still be required to align the aircraft and understand terrain.
Im pretty sure alot of aircraft do have some sort of waypoint navigation systems for flying, (done before flight takeoff) these systems could be used in War Thunder (pre programmed with base data) to set headings to bomb bases, and players will still need to use the map to figure out if their selected mission corresponds to the base they want to head towards.
Yeah actually making the INS navigation system/instruments functional to point towards your designated target point is something i’ve been wanting for a while as well - would make doing cas/bombing a much smoother experience in sim. That alongside being able to create target points from clicking on the map, a more refined PIP and controls to actually designate stuff with the optics from inside the cockpit view, shifting auto level from SAS to an independant keybind, & adding optional axis controls for left/right side engines (propper throttle splitting). Those would be such a massive boon to the sim playerbase and most i imagine would be very simple to implement too.
Yes that would be great (and I’d also like them to fix the ones that are broken) - the 2 lines are the heading bug and the single line is your current heading, but some of the ones in War Thunder have that backwords
But I would love a setting to adjust the heading bug so you could do some simple dead reckoning.
I’d also like the minute hand on all the clocks that don’t work to also be fixed while we’re at it.
Doesn’t show up on the HUD unless you swap HUD/Sight mode through the rotary menu.
Can you elaborate?
If you don’t swap your sight mode to bombs it doesn’t show up.
That’s only partially true.
Since a few patches ago, sight is set automatically depending on the weapon and delivery mode you select.
BUT:
- When spawning, sight is default, even if you only have bombs
- You need to switch to a mission target, THEN select a bomb, for the sight to change to CCRP
or - (if you have only bombs) Switch to CCRP sight manually after selecting a mission target
So it’s a bit situation dependent and finnicky, so it’s always a good idea to have “change sight mode” mapped to a button or key close at hand…
Excellent idea, and it could be as simple as an arrow on the HUD. It would be the most logical solution since it would take the devs the least amount of effort, as they wouldn’t need to accurately model every cockpit instrument involved in CCRP. We’re allowed to have the radar and RWR come up on the HUD in sim so I don’t see why this wouldn’t work.
Clicking on the map to set waypoints is a good idea as well, since you are able to do so without pointing your nose at targets in some planes IRL. The F-4E in general also needs a new cockpit since it currently shares one with the F-4C. With the addition of accurate RWRs in the update Firebirds, it has shown that the modelers are willing to put the effort into making these minor things function - something that is desperately needed for features that don’t have their own HUD elements in cockpit view - such as early CCRP.
