Can we just get rid of planes in Arcade?

Today this is unplayable, I feel I am at airshow, not in tank ground battle.
Bombs, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, bombs, boms, only bombs.
Thank you Gaijin for this airshow in ground battles! Wish you (you know what I wish for you and all that flyers who sh*t bombs on us!).

If Gaijin implemented a Tank V Tank only gamemode with no aerial vehicles. combined arms would dry up overnight.

I know players usually believe what they want to believe…but some facts would be interesting. You should check yourselves…

Fact #1
How many tanks in a game are killed by air vehicles? I know what people on this topic think…but CHECK FACTS. (Info available after any match, you have to see what killed what and not only your personal case)

Fact #2
How many players use aircraft. Each team has 16 players (usually)…how many do an air attack? Not so easy to check without a replay, but you can pay attention during the match.

I am not so sure if combined arms would dry…but i do see an issue if all players in CA wanted to use planes. I believe the Fact #2 above “shows” that many players are happy to play tanks only…

It’s a very prevalent sentiment at least as far as I can see. Fact checking though with data is something only Gaijin can really do.

This data even with thousands of games from one player’s perspective is too anecdotal to support a generalised rationale across the entire game - again something only Gaijin can answer. My opinion though is that it’s quite annoying getting deleted in your tank from the air.

Same as above.

It’s not so much about players wanting to play tanks only, but rather knowing they no longer have to worry about the nuisance that is CAS impeding their game. Whether or not how realistic it is, it’s not fun getting killed by something that you can’t do much against - good luck trying to rely on your team’s SPAA (if there is any) to do the job.

But why don’t you spawn some, or call on others to spawn some?

In an ideal world, that would be the solution. Unless you’re playing with a coordinated team, it largely goes ignored.

Thing is you’ve already written that off, and that is a lot of the problem.

Do you not think you get teams, or do you even try to communicate, because I myself find that when I call out to the team, I get responses and coordination.

If you don’t call out to the team, you’ll never know if anyone would.

with exception of a “few” GFRB battles, most of mine are in GFAB. Having reached top-tier in multiple trees and started playing there in GER & SWE.

the problem for me, in regards to CAS in GFAB (in no particular order):

  1. Points are handed out freely and maybe the cost is to low;

  2. with the recent update to CAS, if you save the aircraft, you can get 1-3 fly points;

  3. planes have their strongest load-out available, with flares and or chaff;

  4. A LOT of times planes fly in from behind the spawn;

  5. NO NEGATIVE IMPACT for LOSING the plane;

  6. Most SPAAG are one trick pony;

a rundown on these points :

  1. Points are given without scoring kills and or assist and the amount needed is in my opinion set to low.
    Recommendation: No free CAS points, raise both attacker and bomber spawn to a higher requirement. Fighter should stay at 1, as to counter in case of no SPAAG presence.

  2. the recent update, has allowed me to save the aircraft and immediately press 9 again to fly-out a second time, with this system in place this only aggravates the situation further.
    Recommendation: reduce to a single point or completely remove this feature.

  3. For both planes and helicopters they receive their strongest load-out at higher tiers with flares or chaff, to completely prevent certain SAM’s from locking onto CAS. Some planes and helicopters have insanely powerful load-out (28 bombs or 16 ATGM’s).
    Recommendation: Tone down the amount of ordnance carried and or the size of bombs (a 30-40m miss still kills GF). Not sure if modelled but doing barrel rolls with full afterburners while carrying full bomb-load, shouldn’t this tear off the wings?. G-forces should also affect bombs and could interfere with successful weapon release. And finally limit amount of flares, a bug caused CAS to only have like 2 for a short while, not this much but enough to save aircraft ,but not enough to flare the entire time a fly-out lasts.

  4. This is the Bane of my existence while playing SPAAG/SAM, CAS spawning in within 2,5 km and having released all their ordnance around my location so there is no escape. there is little to no defense against this, while also needing to be safe from actual enemy GF.
    Recommendation: Enemy can’t fly in from our side of the map, so if spawn is South, from 9 to 12 to 3 o’clock, and if spawn is North then 3 to 6 to 9 o’clock.

  5. The biggest gripe with the current CAS system in place. a CAS player loses NOTHING when his vehicle is lost. at worst he loses his chance to get GF kills. AIR is an insane force multiplier in how many kills it can achieve per fly-out, or very tactical kills on capping or camping enemies. SPAAG/SAM GF are able to counter this but:
    a. No cost for ordnance used;
    b. No cost for plane lost, higher tiers can give 7500SL for saving AIR;
    c. Fighters can kamikaze lightly armored vehicles and try to get canon kills or assists;
    d. No ticket bleed when AIR is shot down by SPAAG/SAM;
    Recommendation: Add risk versus reward mechanic so player pays for loss of AIR, the reward for staying alive should be a good start as a fine. introduce ticket cost for when AIR is lost. Add cost for ordnance used.

  6. In regards to the last topic, SPAAG/SAM are with a few exception squishy vehicles, with little to no means to engage GF, the higher up you go. While AIR kills give you rewards for doing you job, but helping the team win, is another story, since AIR kills prevent allies from getting killed it does nothing for the win.
    a. SPAAG with lock on are unable to engage ground at all;
    b. small caliber (20-25) SPAAG, can annoy MBT’s and maybe kill lights from the side;
    c. medium to large (35, 40, 57, 76) can pen lights from front MBT from the side;

    • 35mm Oerlikon have potent APDS but only 40 rounds;
      d. laser / radar guided, with exception of the ADATS, can only kill by overpressure;

Few things here -

Eh, not really. My main issue currently is being able to stack bomber points beyond 3, which needs to be removed. Costs are honestly fine how they are though, and are a good help when stock grinding.

→ Note: Yes, I am aware that nukes currently use the stacking to work, but that can simply be fixed by moving it to a separate button.

Agreed on this, replace it with a RP or SL reward instead. The point gain is completely unnecessary.

Agreed on a few of these, but not all. Loadouts do need balancing, as do bomb fuzes (Should start from when they impact, not from drop.) G-forces/wing ripping is a no-no, as GAB rightly uses the AAB FM, but flare/chaff cutdowns seems reasonable.

Heavily against SL costs, as one of the reasons I play AB is because losing SL is almost impossible. Ticket bleed could work, but I am against it simply because the rounds are already quite fast. Cost/Ordnance is also a mega no, as you dont get to choose your ordinance, and cannot leave before expending all of it.

Agreed on this.

This one no. You can see for yourself at the end of ANY match, what killed what. No need for replay…just take a look at the kill log.

Of course there are more complete data sets…some even appear on forum sometimes…but in past discussions players will not believe what they dont want to believe…hence me suggesting you see for yourself!

EDIT:
I also get bombed when i am having a good “ground” day…i understand the point…just think it is part of the game. Wouldn’t mind trying tanks only, and actually suggested we have more such events as a way to test the idea…

This is unplayable.
I would say something about people in Gaijin who decided not to make any changes about aircraft in arcade ground battles, but… that would be too rude. So only I can wish you all worst in your life. Just as you wish for us players by not removing those aircrafts.

This is unplayable, today what I am doing, only running away from bombs. Aircrafts and bombs everywhere, it is like airshow, not ground battle. There is no one minute in battle without aircrafts above us. Can’t concentrate to enemies on the ground.
IF you DON’T want to remove aircraft from GB, than at least decrease their number.
Or give us an option to pick do we want to participate in battles with or without aircrafts.
Yesterday one bomber killed 6 of us with one bomb.

Often ‘running’ is the worst thing you can do as you reveal where you are trying to head, a lot more obviously than you sitting still, not moving.

Don’t need remove aircraft but Gaijin needs to do away with the cheap no skill kamikaze free kill and stop allowing enemy aircraft to spawn behind spawn locations. Some better SPAA would be welcomed as well.

to who are you replying?

From my experience, most who deny or don’t agree with any of the numerous post about AIR in GFAB, either:

  • Dont play BR’s where this is getting worse and worse (mostly around 8.7 and up);
  • They themselves use air to boost their performance;

the problem with AIR:
ineffective counters in GFAB:

  • Fighters, i’ve had numerous fly-outs where i was unable to catch the bomber. Even with full afterburners and slight dive;
  • SPAAG, either AIR can attack outside the range of SPAAG, or they spawn so close that there is little to no reaction time;

most of my playtime now is around 10.3-7 in multiple trees, the German Roland costs as much as a LEO2A4, but has nowhere near the same effect against GF, while each SAM cost 400+ SL.

SPAAG’s can shoot down all the planes they want and contribute nothing for the win in a GFAB match, as explained in my post earlier in tis thread. My personal best is still held by the Coelian with 16 planes shot down, great for my personal SL and RP count, but nothing else.

but, where would we put them?

I’ve been killed when moving. Some bomber guys misdrop, or they actually anticipate what areas people are moving into–leading the target(s). And I’ve had the bomb go with no whistle and only a 1-2 second delay, also.

Shooting down 16 plans “makes no contribution to the game” when the thread is about how aircraft are too powerful??

That’s an interesting take.🤔

a. very long time ago;
b. Coelian, has good armor, loads of ammo and ok mobility. and was not removed yet!!!;
c. planes in those days came straight at the SPAAG;
d. most of the time they already dropped their ordnance;

and to make my point, sure i got loads of RP and SL to cover my losses, but it did nothing for the win.
having so many plane kills, is the direct result of losing many allies. Losing any AIR asset has NO negative impact on the player or their side in case of ticket loss.

the worst is like i said higher up where, AIR can fire laser or TV guided or ordnance outside of the SPAAG umbrella.
