Literally what i said, you launch in LOAL on location or “killbox”. Radar doesn’t “extend” the range, its just a detection tool for an aircraft to make where to point missiles to search for targets
Literally just fulda gap. This is “tank destroyer” of old perfected. Fly to the breach, launch all your ordinance into aether, die - quite literally the doctrine expected extreme casualties, so hope was to get more of the enemy in the first salvo
think you need to read on mbda website on this missile as it has man in the loop to meet the restricted rules of engagement, and the fact calling it a missile that doesn’t know what its targeting is wrong as it uses advanced ai to know where and how to attack targets depending on what it is, the fact everyone says it will be a hazard to friendlies is wrong as its designed to be close air support, if it targets friendly vehicles that’s a pretty poor close air support weapons
By actual standards, JAGM-MR is more fake than KH-38MT and i’m tired of people saying KH-38MT is fake while JAGM-MR actually requires us to trust the manufacturer more (and add that we trust American manufacturer but not any other).
The missile has not been procured by anyone, all new sales, including very recent ones still front and center only mention JAGM - Fancy hellfire
No? By this same argument the AMRAAM-AXE doesn’t exist because no one has bought it yet. Nor does the RVV-BD or RVV-SDM. Or the PL-17. Yet they do exist. Not to mention we have actual testing done at China Lake, which means that the JAGM-MR has been actually tested by/in the presence of officials of the USN.
At least brimstone exists and would bring the uk a weapon that can be fired from apache, at least it’s more realistic than the Russian missile that only exists in mock up models,
Brimstone 1 / Dual Mode would be identical in flight performance to Hellfire 2, they are aerodynamically identical and share the same motor. Brimstone 2 however would be better, but we already have JAGM-MR in that range class. Which is also fit with an IIR head, where as Brimstone 2 would still be SAL/IOG up until mmW can be introduced.
Is hellfire overperfoming then? Unless its made from some alien structural material to be lighter in dry mass it doesn’t make sense for that motor to have exactly same impulse (at lower missile mass making more deltaV)
interesting, but im lead to believe unlike hellfire, brimstone is supersonic although i guess it would be if launched from a jet like typhoon, but i assume it would be the same from helicopter surely?
From a static launch, I doubt it, even the Brimstone 2/3 with the better motor, but dont quote me on that.
Being fired though from near or even above Mach 1, would probably push it into supersonic whilst the motor is burning at least.
Big part of why I want the SAL Brimstone 2 on the Tonka and Typhoon would be the much better Time to target, meaning less time needed to be lasing the target. Would also make them harder to intercept
that’s the thing its one of those things that is going to be hard to find out or confirm, as mbda does not specify its speed for either jet launched or helicopter launched, would be nice to think it would be supersonic at least while the motor burns and then uses that speed to reach out further being from what ive seen it should have way longer range that hellfire
There is evidence, in the form of a press release from Lockheed Martin, that JAGM-MR was a functional missile. There is no evidence that Kh-38MT was ever built as a functional weapon.
This is not about trusting American companies more than Russian companies. It is simply a case of the Russian company not providing any evidence while the American company did. However, weak you think her LM’s evidence is, it is one more piece of evidence than exists for Kh-38MT.
Brimstone 1 had the ability to attack individual tanks by reducing the targeting box to a small area around the target’s known location. The poster was also talking about Brimstone 2, which has combined laser / MMW guidance.
Which IR missiles do we have in game which feature autonomous engagement?
I would have liked them to split it with different missiles at different BRs (like the “early”/“late” thing they often do - “basic”/“advanced”), but v happy to see interesting new additions regardless
