Same with roll rate. There are huge number of posts saying “roll must be bad” and none which will detailed describe question of Zero roll. Who will really compare it with game and show the differences between in game pilot and what was IRL. Who will neatly sort out information about zero configurations related to the roll:
Zero model 21 with clean aileron
Zero model 22 and early/late (long story) model 21 with balance tabs
Zero model 32 with cutted wing
Zero model 52 with redesigned wing
All of them should have different roll rate and for example idk where effect is better - with balance tabs or with cutted wing. Or A6M5 is the best? Meanwhile that balance tab were decreasing needed power handle like twice in compare to clean model 21 aileron
And if someone made video it doesn’t mean he absolutely correct
And as I remember with that modern Zero flights were another funny thing where on videos it showed performances better than “absolute brick” and “zero must be break” side started to say that it was not original control system or something. So hell yeah Zero flight model is just funny story
He provides zero in-game data or graphs aside from “the USA report [on a likely damaged aircraft] says to do this and we can’t do this”. By putting data on a graph we can actually evaluate it objectively, and we can see the Zeros do compress a lot in roll:

The A6M3 uses higher stick force, so it’s not 1:1. Regardless we can see its roll rate drops off quite hard but is VERY high at the relevant speeds.
It’s also pretty convenient he did not include any interviews with the pilot(s) of Planes Of Fame’s A6M5 which is the closest to original out of all of them (and to my knowledge the only one restored with the help of the original designer), and they say it only loses its advantage above 300mph - just like the testing reports I used to make my adjusted load factor graph.
If plane attached at video is related to that pilots words so its interesting that pilot describing (if he flew only Zero showed on video) A6M2 model 21 without balance tabs what is the worst possible roll configuration for Zero
Thats because the P-47D is a relatively slow climber at its BR, not because the A6M3 is a fast climber. A6M3 is pretty average for its BR and starts losing engine performance by 3km. (Plus it just got raised to 4.3)
All A6Ms are almost universally some of the slowest accelerating aircraft in a dive at their respective BRs.

This is literally the only answer. They win because people turn with them. They are continuing to win at 5.7 and will at 6.0, or even 6.3 because people continue to stay at low alt and turn with them regardless of how outclassed they are in actual performance.
That said, Knowing that this is Dovah4 I am responding to, I am expecting this argument to go about as well as the .50 cal thread did.
Even then that plane isnt 100% as it wont have its original engine. The only A6M flying with its original engine is the planes of fame A6M5. With a different engine the aircrafts performance will be slightly off compared to original.
Yeah im sure its really easy for a person who mains a nation that keeps getting its BRs lowered due to lack of player skill to say that to a group of people who main a nation that keeps getting its BRs raised due to a lack of player skill.
95% of the player base plays the same. They keep turning. And Japanese planes just happen to favor the playstyle. It’s not the matter of an average player skill floor. Going all loopy and turny. Just like US planes making a circle fight, I see lightly armed Japanese planes doing a forced head on until it rams the target.

In your “figures” you are purposefully going much faster than their level speed in order to give the Ki-44 as much ram air as you can and make up for its poor altitude performance. It’s also very convenient that you don’t have propeller efficiency nor thrust on there.
This is also a situation where P-51C was still MP-limited and could not gain any extra power with ram, while Ki-44-II could; AND at the one altitude where the Ki-44-II actually gets similar power output instead of any other where there’s a large difference. What a happy coincidence, right?
So collect your own data to prove I’m totally lying, or pipe down and get good. Maybe aim at the target instead of spraying all around them (unless you’re in a Ki-44, then your aim also becomes much better! Another happy coincidence.).
