Bombers in low tier arb ruin the match for everyone

There arent enough targets. What now ? (We don’t have bombs/rockets)
Even if we did. They clearly lost but we have to bleed their tickets for a solid 10 mins now.

After the first rearm. Still barely a dent in their points while the enemy is camping their airfield

2 minutes left we finally got him. How is this good for the games pacing.

Your screenshots show the following. 8 AI targets were destroyed in 5 minutes, which caused the enemy to lose 800 tickets. There are tons of AI targets on most maps that can be destroyed without bombs or rockets (bunkers can be destroyed with 20mm cannons by shooting the gun ports). Zero destroyed another 8 AI targets by the end of the game. If you had focused on the AI targets instead of chasing the bomber for 7 minutes, you would have definitely won faster. At least that’s the theory.

That map has a lot of bunkers so there wasn’t really anything else left to kill. My plane carries only 120 rounds of 20mm shared by 2 guns so I got about 60 ammo to fire. So does the zero. Both of our planes are also slow. It took me a solid 5 mins to get from the frontline to the rearm. I took at and then went after the pe8 only bc he was close.

Farm ground targets, longer match=more RP/SL.

Dude - seriously, if you have no patience for 25 minutes, just leave the match or play Air AB.

Regarding your example with screenshots:

  • What do you want to achieve? Empathy? I mean everybody can watch the replay (replay link) and come to his own conclusions.

  • If i re-read your OP and the examples in your last posts it looks like that you are highly passionate, but you fail to acknowledge that prop Air RB is no fighter-only mode.

A short summary regarding the match and your claims/cpmplaints:

  1. “No targets left” - Seriously? I mean what do you expect when one of your team mates kills 5 enemies and the rest of their team plays like headless chickens?
  2. “The enemy is camping their airfield” - factually wrong. Just try to bring down a heavy 4 engine bomber from 6 km to ground level. It takes ages. The Pe-8 dove immediately to his airfield after he killed the 2 noobs (SB2C and Ki 102/108) stall climbing behind him.
  3. “My plane carries only 120 rounds…” - And? The MB 157 is a beast and the low ammo count is considered in the BR.
  4. “It took me 5 minutes to get from the frontline to rearm…” - that’s why we have secondary airfields…

Regarding the Pe-8 performanve in this match:

  • From a neutral perspective the Pe-8 hasn’t stalled the game, he has done a lot of things right, killed 3 enemies in total, rearmed and took of immediately after repairing and could have easily scored 800 - 1.200 points more.
  • He lost a few hundred points as he dropped too much bombs/TNT on the bases and a 410 dropped bombs on his 1st base (3-400 mission score loss).
  • His major mistake was that he performed a 180 turn after his last drop and flew towards you. If he would have flown straight (=away from you) you would never had the chance to kill him.

I kindly ask you to rethink your usage of all-chat. Messages like “just j out” or “stop stalling the match” are usually pointless and in this case/match objectively seen flat wrong.

Have a good one!

As others have said, longer matches actually helps with rewards a lot. So as long as they’re not camping the airfield to hope to bait you into dying, it’s fine to let it run until the timer runs out.

Wdym and ? What I was saying was I cant just keep killing ai consistently. 120 ammo doesn’t last at all since at that point only bunkers were left.

you know the longer the match goes the more RP you get right…? like literally if the enemy has a single bomber left pop an anti mech order and kill ground targets you will get a ton of SL and RP I used to grind with the premium F6F hellcat in the british tree this exact way its why I have over 1000 ground targets destroyed

Synopsis (from watching the replay): This Pe-8 flew to bases, bombed, defended against enemies (with a bit of maneuvering as well as manual use of gunners), shot 2 down, got damaged, returned immediately to base to land, repair/rearm, flew back out straight towards bases, shot another player down, and bombed…

This is exactly the type of bomber player you want to be up against in games. I wish all were this active and engaged in the game.

When you were calling out “stop stalling the game” in all chat the bomber was something like 1500m high going straight to a base after taking off again…

Plenty of fighters will see a ticket advantage and if they’re the last one they’ll just go high or otherwise passive… I guess fighters ruin the match for everyone too?

If you go out in a niche plane with not much ammo, you need to play it like that… be aware of it’s limitations.

This may not be the sort of game/match you are after, but watching the replay I saw quite a good game.

I gotta admit after watching the replay the pe8 did most of the enemy teams efforts all by itself.
I am kinda sorry for giving a bad example match but this is a singular diamond in a pile of doo doo. Most of the time the bomber isn’t so active.

I agree a lot of bombers don’t behave this way, but then it is difficult to be involved in the close-combat-orientated match if you’re in a big lumbering slow thing.
But plenty of players in fighters aren’t active either, and they don’t have the same excuse.
(That isn’t directed towards you btw – just in general)

This could be fixed by just adding an actual gamemode to the game rather than just putting 24 people in a server and then leaving them alone. There is no primary objective.

All front line maps have a primary obective (destroying af), but the matchmaker doesn’t fit, because very often no team have enough bombers and a second run is impossible because of time limitation. Or the worst case, one team can do it in one run, but the other team has no chance to counter.

i see people pointing fingers at each other - “fighter jocks”, “kids in fighters”, “bomber bots”, etc.
i see people DEFENDING this bad gamemode/gameplay loop by going “but it gives you more sl/rp so its better”

honestly its really sad how the community accepts this, any other gaming community would destroy gaijin for such horrible gameplay implementation
basically every gamemode in wt is so awfully botched its sad

there is one - “kill the enemy team”, which is insanely dumb and inadvertently causes issues such as the one in OP

whats really bad is that people defend this crap by saying it eases the grind… incredible, just incredible

exactly. gaijin doesnt really care about gameplay, they just want you to grind your hind off and buy a premium pack out of frustration

Thats the issue IMO. Games like nuclear option and dcs fix this by giving you actual objectives that actually do something. When you bomb a high value target in dcs it actually matters. In wt it doesn’t do anything. Just drains some tickets and respawns in 5 mins. In nuclear option your main goal is to wipe out the enemy bases basically. The enemies attack via ground convoys and have factories. When you take out factories their production rate drops and eventually stops altogether thus making their pushes weaker. The issue with wt is that the games end too early so these mechanics just wouldn’t work. If we had something like sim battles with open servers and long matches bombers would have actual jobs to do.

Got my first prem pack couple of days ago just to grind sl. I don’t think Ill ever spend this much on wt again

Imho your pov has the major flaw that you assume that there would be a significant amount of people which would care about prop Air RB game play.

  1. The game mode is flooded with people on their eternal grind tours (doesn’t matter for SL or RP) without neither the skill / experience nor the passion for aerial warfare in general and for prop BRs in particular.

In other words: Just a fraction of players plays (Air RB) prop BRs for fun, uses all plane classes and is willing to invest time & brainpower in order to get better.

  2. So technically seen gaijin just follows this mindset and ruined this mode in order to cater these masses of grinders. It doesn’t matter if you take the introduction of 4 (respawning) bases maps, 16 vs 16, stupid BR changes or bad weather as example - they are all aimed to lower the necessity to gain skill & experience.

There are actually 3:

  1. Destroy more enemy resources (=bases, ground targets - represented by tickets) than the opposite group of random strangers (aka “team”) within a time span of 25 minutes.
  2. Prevent the enemy team from killing your resources by killing all enemy players (aka TDM).
  3. Destroy an enemy strategic target (= enemy airfield) - which forces the enemy air power to retreat.

But:

  • We all know that #2 is the preferred outcome for most players as the game is just a plain vehicle based shooter attractive for CoD/Fortnite kids.
  • Outcome #1 is rather rare and outcome #3 is ultra rare as just a few maps with 3 non-respawning bases are in rotation and the average (bomber) player is unable to make the “right” decisions and/or the hordes of interceptors/undertiered fighters makes this a “mission impossible”.

From my pov there is nothing wrong with the guys trying to optimize their grind efforts - and staying alive as long as possible to fight another day is also comprehensible.

I disagree regarding game play.

  • From my pov they simply acknowledged their factual inability to balance base and airfield HP (=TNT needed to kill those targets) by adding dynamic HP values for each match. With the F-4E introduction in March 2020 Air RB matches ended even faster than today or in the past with 4 Tu-4s.

  • So they reacted to the increased demand for a low-skill grinding tool and added respawning bases in May 2020. This favors (ofc) and supports the sale of high price premium aircraft

  • I do agree that gaijin is extremely successful in creating the illusion that there is zero experience (resulting in applicable skill) necessary to play Air RB - and that’s the reason why so many players get lured into buying premium jet fighters and use them for base bombing.

So at the end of the day the results proves your pov.

That happens when Gaijin simply ignores game modes for a decade and just chase money by adding more and more vehicles. Community seems to ignore this problem as long as they have their favorite toy to play with and guess what, Gaijin knows this very well.

Every mode in the game currently should be completely scrapped and built from the ground up.

Thats what I have been saying all this time. Same for naval. Naval has an unbearable grind that’s impossible without prems. Horrible maps etc. Everyone seems to forget that the second they add new ships and everyone goes. “muh yamato” “holy damn its the bismarck” etc. Most people who started playing naval for these vehicles will stop playing naval before getting those ships. Same for top tier aswell. People get hyped up for top tier vehicles as if they are gonna be able to get them all or as if top tier is lacking vehicles and has a solid groundwork (it does not)

The big problem with outcomes 1 and 3(this applies to ground matches as well) is the whole respawn system or lack thereof in Air RB, many of the matches are essentially over within the first few minutes. Most of the ground rb battles i’'m in, most of any given team hasn’t gotten enough points to spawn a third vehicle so it’s 2 and out; the objectives mean very little if it’s 6v16 within a few minutes.

I’d much prefer the modes remade from the ground up to make 1 and 3 the primary ways to win with deaths contributing to ticket bleed a little and just have all the modes be fully respawnable…but Gaijin can’t monetize that.
