Belly flop landings removed

There was a post on /r/warthundersim recently about take off beings glitched.

Seems I wasn’t the only one having weird experiences taking off in a live match.

https://www.reddit.com/r/WarthunderSim/comments/1h2k8re/uh_what/

To those not wanting to click:

Guy starts take-off roll and as the nose pitches up, the plane suddenly plummets UNDER the runway violently, then gets yeeted into the sky and then attempts to land after that violent trashing, lands with gear deployed and starts bouncing like a happy dolphin.

Oh, and it looks like he phased underground as you can see the BOTTOM of the bunkers/hangars/whatever.

Foul, but kind of funny lol

Yes, even a mediocre pilot can land a plane.
I wonder how bad you have to be in order to fail at that.

Something is definitely screwy with runways on Tunisia.

I felt like flying my demon some. Earlier, carrier take offs worked flawless. I landed on a runway to rearm and on respawning I…

started sliding backwards rapidly until I was completely backwards to the runway.

What even.

Runway in question

Looks like I’m not alone either

Edit:

This runway does the slide into 90 degree angle consistently with the demon on spawn. Literally hands off controls you’re sliding backwards.

Edit 2:

Did a crashlanding with one of my gears shot off. Touched down at ~250 km/h, less than 2 m/s sink speed.

Plane rolled along runway like normal, right wing scraping the ground as it dipped down but it was a stable touch down.

Suddenly, about half-way down the runway I slid in physics-defying ways left and right. Did not explode.

Runways are very weird on Tunisia.

Had the same issue.

You spawn, and your plane is pulled backwards with about 50 km/h.

If repairs took 30 seconds IRL, then “soft landings” would be standard protocol.

it is not the question of mediocrity. It took me less time to belly land and take off rather than slowing down to 200 kph, deploying landing gear, then braking. Why would you even disagree here and call other people bad players when you can’t even back it up with your own skill?

it is not irl. why do you larpers have to take everything away. It is a video game. treat it like one

It claims to be a realistic Combat Game… REALISTIC! If you don’t like it realistic, you shouldn’t play it.

And if you are not able to land your plane properly, just don´t play games with planes in it.

If I don’t like to eat pizza… I just don´t eat it. I never asked an Italian to make me a Pizza made of Steaks only…

I just don´t get, why you do not understand it…

EDIT:

I´m not sure, but I bet you would ask a question, in I Racing Forum, like:

“Could we please remove all corners from the track. Cornering is so hard. And this is not IRL…”

Maybe we can ask Gaijin to add a premium sub for those cases.

The “just press a button” subscription for only 99.99 $/Moth.

“T” for take off
“L” for landing
“D” for dog fight
“B” for base bombing…

I´m sure, the Snail would make a ton of money with it.

You should try the overhead break.

Using the Demon as example.

  1. Fly at ~1000 km/h at 0.5 km altitude towards runway at a slight offset so you an see where it is by looking out the cockpit. Power to idle as I cross runway treshold and deploy airbrakes.
  2. Bank right once half-way down the runway and pull up at ~5G sustained while on idle power. Keep your altitude constant
  3. Once parallel with runway, start descending and deploy flaps/landing gear as appropriate
  4. Once runway is past your tail, apply power again as appropriate and turn your plane onto the runway
  5. You’ll touchdown at about 250-300 km/h
  6. Landing roll takes about 10-15 seconds.

The time it takes the whole ordeal after being within range of the runway (~2 km distance) to complete cannot be more than a minute and you’ve maintained altitude and speed until the very last second letting you abort landing, put afterburner on and evade bandits going for a strafe until the very last ~2-3 seconds when you are on short final/touching down.

Make the damn breakers something near half efficiency of belly landing and for god sake we even isn’t take a no parachute planes in theme, drive whole field just to stop plane from 200-300km/h is most stupid thing, also press f for fully operational plane because of 1 lost wheel lol. P.s. little save for landing on gear, if your plane isn’t damaged at all and your speed lower then 50km/h you can leave plane safely and back in loadout menu and spawn again, it’s also faster then just wait 15 secs of reload even with ace pilot with max lvl

I’m average in air and have no problems landing both ways. People are just mad because they can’t do 500km/h landings anymore.

Made a bug report about buggy Tunisia runways:

Another video:

https://www.reddit.com/r/WarthunderSim/comments/1h3s6lt/the_new_runways_are_broken_af_gaijin_what_is_this/

Guy was landing with gear out.

Looks like Sinai and Tunisia are pretty much unplayable.

This video demonstrates what’s wrong by the way:

Guy touches down on the runway as visible, suddenly jerks around and phases through the ground to reveal ANOTHER runway.

There’s 2 runways clipping through each other causing collission issues it looks like.

Edit

Sicily runways at prop tiers also broken:

Notice my engine OFF (prop, temps) and the fact that I’m sliding at 20 km/h as I spawn in

that analogy is not 1:1? On top of that I really don’t wanna hear an opinion from a guy that either sucks at realistic, doesn’t play, or both.

They play air sim a fair bit, so I’d say they have experience flying. Idk if they’re good.

Given that landing affects both of us in sim and RB, both playerbase’s opinions I feel are prudent on the topic.

And as you can see from my posts: They didn’t target belly flops.

They screwed up runway modelling.

People landing with gears and buttery approach still spaz out like insanity because they phase through the ground.

Respawning my F4U-4 causes me to slide around on the runway before I touch controls. Same with the F3H-2, so it’s the same deal with modern and old style runways.

Landing my F3H-2 with 2 out of 3 landing gears as gentle as I can makes me spaz out in ways that no physics can justify.

The only people unaffected by broken runways are ground arcade players, and maybe air arcade? I can’t recall if you can land and rearm on all maps outside the “capture airfield” ones.

this is outdated information he made a new video you cant belly land anymore

In slight fairness. There does appear to be some wierd collisions when you belly land at the moment, likely from the new airfields and un-intended. Once that is fixed, should return to mostly normal. That being said. Belly landings should be in case of emergency thing like if they get shot off, so should be hard but doable.

At the moment its a little hit and miss.

What do the stats say about how well or poorly I can land a plane?

So I can’t find anything there…

I really don’t know what you’re trying to say with these constant posts of stats…

As for the landings themselves:

They are really ruined at the moment. Yes, a belly landing at 600 km/h shouldn’t be possible. But an emergency landing should. And landings with the landing gear extended are a huge problem.

There are invisible jumps built into the runway. And that just shouldn’t be the case.
If I land too quickly, I might overshoot the runway. End… If I do a belly landing too fast, it will rub off the underside of my plane. It gets very hot and it catches fire… the plane breaks down

But building jumps into a runway is just bad.

Thanks for playing, 0/10 points…you want to
