Adding single ASEAN countries in the game definitely can’t do much, you need to see it as whole.
Definitely, I think what they need to add is those vehicle which cover the BR gap. Personally speaking I don’t think AV8 Gempita in worth to be added, even if it added no one will play it. Because I guess it BR will be at 9.0 to 9.3 which Japan already got much better choices compared to it.
who knows? Maybe Gaijin decided to give them the R77-1 using the excuses of “balancing”, this isn’t the first time Gaijin doing this so I also can’t said they will not have it.
That would be the first thread to fit best - Suggestions for an ASEAN Tree may not be accepted anymore (depends on how its constructed), as some Nations are already represented in-game, most notable Thailand.
This is just an excuse from gaijin right? Same thing they already did with Iseral moving those handful vehicles to the Iseraeli tech tree from the US and UK ones.
Last I check, there are still Merkavas in the US tree.
The israeli ground tree is terrible. I’ve seen in the chinese side of this forum that several chinese players pointed it out. Theres much copy paste and not enough interest.
Asean will be worse in Air copy-paste but better in ground copy-paste. There’s plenty of local ground vehicles but unlike Israel, Asean still hasn’t developed aircrafts and missiles of their own.
To add to all that. Like other’s have pointed out, It’s not realistic anymore.
there are also chinese tanks in the US and Russian tree as well. They stayed because people still own them from before the Iserarli tree was ever created. But, ASAEAN would make a fine independent tree with all the nice vehicles listed in this channel included.
Your dream of an independent ASEAN tree has already been thrown out the window at this point, gaijin also prefers to stick to specific countries as “mother trees” within the game and smaller nations which would not be represented by themselves for obvious reasons, coupled to an existing country, strengthening both or all involved countries as a whole, as opposed to a “regions tree” which would create problems as people stated here, the bad reputation of copy paste, nationalist sentiments, and God forbid, politics.
Moreover unnecessarily bringing in more independent trees creates major issues for said tree itself, look at the Israeli tree, as someone stated, even starting at a higher rank it still has major issues.
Indonesia could’ve worked as a mother tree with its neighbors coupled, sure, but it likely wouldn’t rival the amount of vehicles gaijin is aiming to give each tree without heavily copy pasting the same vehicle over and over with minor differences/variants as a way to justify a lineup, that also makes grinding tedious as people have voiced many times and is a recurrent issue with the Israeli tree.
Ideally, considering the current events and how everything is hinted to go like, the ideal scenario should be:
Japan > Thailand and Indonesia as subtrees
China > Burma/Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia as additional subtrees filling gaps like Pakistan on top of Taiwan which they already have. (Refer to India, Australia and Canada in UK tree)
Unified Korea > Malaysia and perhaps Philippines as subtrees.
Now it could be complicated to add Singapore anywhere in those trees, it’s controversial in China since it would heavily inject even more western equipment into China, including F-15 and F-35 which should not happen, in the Korean tree Singapore would add options in the Ground tree but it would be essentially copy paste in air as for top tier South Korea and Singapore operate the same vehicles with very minor differences in armament, in Japan it could be viable but not without a little controversy despite many Singaporeans not minding that option if it means their country being represented.
I’m only part Asian not born or raised in Asia, so I don’t grasp absolutely all the ins and outs of the region but understand enough to lay out these options which could be accepted by the overall majority without much trouble, I think the existing Asian countries and Korea in the future would benefit from such a fair distribution since a pure ASEAN tree seems highly unlikely.
not to mention I highly doubt a tree like that can get the same treatment as the other big 3. Many of the smaller nations still has issues, Israeli tree still missing a whole lot of their kit. Even if we have tons of domestic stuff who’s to say an ASEAN tree wouldnt just be filled Copy&Paste like the Israeli tree? That’s the simplest way of implementation and the most likely outcome considering Gaijin’s track record
We can literally see this to be the case with the Thai sub-tree, VADS, TTS, etc
I’ll add that Indonesia also coupled with the rest of ASEAN would have almost every plane under the sun, which would be absolutely terrible for other trees’ health, but at the same time how many people would be willing to ditch their already established trees they already unlocked majority of to migrate entirely to Indonesia + rest of ASEAN? We shouldn’t forget that a new independent tree also means new crews to level up and separate premiums we’ll have to buy if we want to grind at any decent pace, specially those of us who have more to do outside this game. Another issue would be yet again copy paste premiums like the Leopard 2A4, which Indonesia and Singapore both operate, in that case people will complain just like it happened with Sweden and France getting premium 2A4s, if unique vehicles are brought as premiums instead gaijin will be accused of paywalling unique tanks, just like the BMD series in Russia and oscillating turret tanks in America.
If they try to limit certain additions for game health then nationalist sentiments will prevail complaining about insufficient representation because X vehicle is under Y flag, like it happened between Belgium and Netherlands air tree in France. ASEAN and Asia as a whole selection makes more sense and just better off spread as subtrees across bigger Asian mother nations as I’ve suggested up there
And to look at it from Gaijin’s perspective, Israel is quite reputable for its equipment. They thought that there is sufficient demand for Israeli vehicles in the game.
ASEAN doesn’t have much unique domestic military industry. The reputation is not as high as Israel’s and Gaijin would have to justify spending time and money to model these new unique vehicles that are not as well documented and as famous as Israeli vehicles.
Just like others have pointed it out. Gaijin is willing to cheap out on Thailand. The unique Thai M60 TIFCS didn’t come. Only a copy-paste normal M60 TTS. The unique Thai M163 VADS with tracking FLIR? Not here. Just a regular M163 added.
Gaijin thought they saw a market but Israel is filled with missing things and problems. I personally don’t even see a big enough market for ASEAN Tech tree.
I mean, which other nation could even be the basis or main nation for ASEAN? As far as I know only Indonesia and Singapore could work as such, but mostly Indonesia from what I could find, and yes they wouldn’t be able to be proper mother trees at the level of existing ones, I don’t disagree with you at all to be clear, it would be complicated to add ASEAN as an independent tree.
Watch these more unique variants come as premium, squadron or event vehicles. I understand why it’s easier to just bring the copy paste variants since they can just reuse models and apply a different texture then call it a day, they can always bring the unique ones later and monetize them as premiums, etc as a way to get that money back and some more
Gaijin can easily fill it with non-C&P tho as attested by Indonesia and Thai subtree proposals. Plenty of C&P if taken as an independent tree but with Japan acting as the main tree, both of these nations can easily pick and choose what vehicles to be added.
Gaijin deliberately chose the C&P - thats the problem. As mentioned earlier, the Thais have a unique M60 TIFCS, and M163 TVADS but didnt bother instead adding the unapgraded versions. It will be up to Gaijin how they implement it because quite frankly, with Indonesia in the mix, there shouldnt be a problem finding a non-C&P addition.
It’s exactly what I said up there, they can’t please everyone and not as many people would be interested in regular variants as event, premium or squadron vehicles, therefore less monetization potential, bad for business, sadly both gaijin and the community contribute to this factor
