ASEAN independent tree will be full of copy-paste. Too little domestic equipment to warrant a full tree. It would be smaller than Israel.
Not only that. There will be so much copy paste from other countries, there is little reason to research the other countries if ASEAN has almost everything from everyone. Not good for game health.
Indonesia’'s airforce alone is full of copy paste. The unique vehicles are only ground. Same for the others.
I understand where you are coming from but Japan is viewed favorably today. Southeast-asia has moved on.

Not as close as TH or ID la bro. 10 years Japan left edy Malaysia and Singapore not yet Independent. They also not part of FDPA.
Most of ASEAN have good relations with Japan so in that scope, I agree, not loose in the slightest. Maybe they meant looser comparing to those two.
You have my full support for Malaysia’s addition into war thunder bro. Love to see your D Hornets and MKM. Better than ID MK2.

If only we had truly bushed out premiums like that instead of the sad excuse we have at the moment, honestly these camo nets shouldn’t be a premium exclusive decoration but decorations added to most tanks over time but it is what it is sadly.
Also I must voice my interest and love for the Indonesian Military Forces when it comes to vehicles, it’s an interesting mix of things with some originals here and there. My interest appeared when I was younger and found out Just Cause 2’s location was primarily based on Indonesia and my research about more of the country began.
I’ll never get tired of these glorious pictures of the Air Force and Ground Forces

yeah an Independent tree is obviously the preferred option, but realistically this is how it can be implemented in the game
because even if we do have our own variants, special loadouts etc. people will just generalize it as one thing, for instance F-5, plenty of differences between the Thai variants but people will generalize it as simply just another F-5

Not really, only the ASEAN founders countries having those kind of relations with Japan, this can’t be saw in other late joiner to the ASEAN like Vietnam

yeah, an independent tree would be nice. ASEAN countries have enough vehicles to stack up the entire tree.
If we’re looking at Founders, I have a hard time filling the lower tiers, in this context for ground. For air it’s easily filled but Indonesia is nearly like East and West Germany all over again by itself. Coupled with Singapore’s Super Skyhawks, and Malaysian Migs and Flankers.
Not only that, I’m not convinced Gaijin is willing to do Pan-Asia/SEA tree. I think they’re sticking to purely countries instead of regions.
MK2 still uses N001VEP Mech whilst MKM uses the PESA N011M Bars.
Yeah, they’ve had their fill of commonwealth equipment.
Anzac would solve the lower tiers shortage on ground but… wow it’s hard to justify grinding other trees if this one has everything bro. Plus India is alr in the UK.

That’s a valid option but again I think the biggest reason against it is the sheer amount of copy-paste.
Israel even starting that high is roughly 40% Magach. So fun. Only the air is somewhat interesting with less copy paste and unique israeli armament. We barely have domestic unique armaments.
ASEAN has enough variants of vehicles in pretty much all types to form an interesting independent tech-tree. Even if as a sub-tree, there is no avoidance of copy and paste
This is unpreventable, just simply look at Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia armoury. For us those weapon and equipment is not just a weapon but also a diplomatic method to staying neutral, that is why there are tons of weapon variaty from east to west 😅

Ignoring what the Devs would select for additions, this Suggestion shows that a Sub-TT without C&P is very possible.

I agree that a large subtree with little to no C&P is possible. But an all out tree by itself requires a good amount of C&P. It probably looks similar to China tree’s from rank I to III.

I’m having a hard time coming up with Rank III. PH 75mm Sherman at 3.7 ID short 75mm EBR, a couple PT76s, Thai M24 Chaffee, Singapore AMX-13 is Rank IV in game with the big 75mm.

Indonesia alone has tons of non copy-pasted stuff to be added if need be, key issue is that the amount of non C&P is nowhere near enough to justify its own tree. It’s also a matter of the populace, if a fully fledged ASEAN tree was to be added there would be many voices against it purely because it has vehicles from everywhere (And i mean everywhere, west and east)
With United Korea (which i am a supporter of) at least there’s quite a lot of domestic designs from both North and South which kinda dampens the sense of C&P there (from both Air & Ground).
Also the Mi-35P is as stock as its get, even the Thai tree itself is pretty butchered. So expectations of the vehicles being accurately portrayed and not just straight up copy&pasted? Very low.

honestly if Malaysia to be added in ground tree it could be as minimum as the Thai did, plus not much vehicles could be add on like I’d realistically think it be:
- SIBMAS 90 (Ratel 90 but Belgian)
- ACV-300 Adnan (Bushmaster cannon or Bakhtar Shikan/HJ-8 ATGM carrier, any of these 2 variants)
- AV8 Gempita (LCT30 variant with Ingwe would be the best option)
- PT-91M
- BAE Jernas aka Rapier (plus towed since we have the multi vehicle feature now)
(honestly can be either Indo or Malaysian) - Scorpion 90 (same as above)
Meanwhile on heli tree, may fight between the MD530G or Thai’s AH-6 plus the MD530G ours have didn’t get APKWS or some guided weapons
nah, see, the issue for Su-30MKM is neither UK or USSR tree should have it because 1) Su-30MKI of IAF already be the better option for UK tree 2) Su-30SM itself also already a better option in USSR albeit lacking MAW and some sensor and also already has a good weapon set.
also reminder the MKM didn’t have R-77-1/RVV-SD so if it to be added in it would be having slightly lower BR than the Su-30SM and have same weapon set as Su-27SM (well, minus the fairytale tunnel twin pylon R-77 that isn’t used by any Flanker other than Su-35S) just with Damocles TGP and GBU-12 as extras
