Sorry, but I don’t really relish the idea of a combined tree for nations with differing political philosophies, agendas, and security alliances. Might as well combine the US, Canada, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil into one tree because of hey, NAFTA! But even NAFTA is an actual binding commerce agreement, with responsibilities for member states, ASEAN meanwhile, does not represent any of that in its real-life purpose, it’s a platform for political discussion similar to WEF.
As a Malaysian WT player, I don’t want Malaya to have a part in this categorisation. We’re a commonwealth nation, and we’re fine with our existing historical doctrine and alliances.
Yes, Malaysia was officially added in December 2025 (update 2.53 Line of Contact).
This discussion about ASEAN is probably less about the game and only about the suggestion specifically. Gaijin themselves probably just took the popular Thailand suggestion, needed more stuff for what they wanted to do and decided to look for what other nations in the region had.

I don’t think they considered this as representing ASEAN, at best in the same way that Britain gets “commonwealth”, with only two (and sometimes also Australia and Canada) out of the 56 nations and other members like Pakistan or Cyprus officially in other techtrees. I think we’ll see the same happen here because I doubt they’d make full 10 or even just 5 (like the suggestion) nation subtrees.
It’s more like a general theme they drew nations from as they felt was right for gameplay.
They might introduce more during the dev server, but from overall practice, it might indeed be just Leo2RI (not even the blatant Leo2A4 copy paste for 10.7 lmao)

yea subtree addition on Japan past Thailand is underwhelming, they seem didn’t think it thoroughly, like adding Malaysian jets just on 13.0 and above and not ones between 13.0 to G8N1 (I forgor the BR), compared to other subtree before it they had it covered the lines that is blanked
Because they never said they were adding Indonesia ground sub tree this update only Leo 2ri and some others which could just be one more tank for all we know there might not be plans for a full Indonesia ground sub tree
I think its safe to assume its a subtree. Maybe not a whole line, but it is a subtree. India is a subtree w/o a line, SA is a subtree w/o a line, Pakistan is a subtree w/o a line, etc.
Since it’s been called a subtree before, and we’re now getting ground vehicles, I’d argue it is fully fledged (Aviation + Helicopter + Ground)
