No. There are only aimlessly flying AI planes at lower BR.

Not quite, some of the AI attacker/bomber waves on the larger EC style maps are escorted by AI that will engage you.

They are genuinely one of the best things in war thunder and you cannot convince me otherwise.
They are beautiful and help with immersion in the battle

Nah but there’s bombers that will shred the crap out of you if you get too close accidentally. I learned this the hard way
AFAIK AI fighters existed only in RB EC in the past. They spawned when you flew around for too long without any contact to prevent farming RP just for being part of battle.
Please don’t remind us of what we lost mate, it’s painful enough…
And I’m not even talking about what was, but what could’ve been if they didn’t give up on it

Not seen for ages.
They didnt exist only on RB EC, they were on the old Spain map back when 9.0 was top tier. Axis had mig 17s or mig 15s that could shoot you down
Allied had Sabres, F25s i think.
They might have existed on other maps too, but Spain spawned bombers or something and they spawned with them.
Its been a long time.
