Are jet energy fighters (F-5, Hunters) OP?

Harrier without WEP will out speed a Hunter quite happily and out accelerate it too. The fact you can then WEP ontop of that is even better.

Not sure what overheating really matters. Just manage your engine temps better. You only need to be at 90% throttle most of the time in a Harrier

So you agree?

The Aim-9Js at 10.0 arent all that special compared to the Aim-9Gs found on a large number of 9.7s?

Though I was referring more to the Hunter being better than the Harrier. Id consider the Harrier the stronger platform in most cases. Even in its nerfed state

G has same peak G pull as D, only difference is uncaged seeker.

From my own flying a harrier at the brink of overheat (97% throttle) with full battle load reaches about the same speed as a hunter whose battle load is significantly less give ot take a couple mph.

Harrier absolutley outruns it tho as it accellerates better.

Also turns better but because it still loses too much energy and is missing top end thrust then becomes a brick

even the 11.0 area F-104s are kinda middling but yeah the 12.0 F-104 is honestly one of if not the worst jet in game br wise.

the 9.3 ones should definitely go up (really what needs to happen is that entire BR range needs fixing and decompression )

Yeah. 90% of the problems facing most 7.0-10.3 jets can be resolved with decompression

Every other Hunter gets those apart from missiles and flares.

The missiles are -9P’s - essentially J’s with radar slaving, which is good - but still only 20G and 5.5k lock-on

hunter F.58 was 9.7 when i played it and i was dogfighting everyone at lowspeed high speed you name it

IT WAS key word WAS op its 10.0 where it belongs now compared to other 9.7s it was insane AIM-9J
hyper accurate guns and very good energy retention it was my goat for german air

But it has the exact same FM as the Hunter F6 at 9.7 and the FGA9/F58 at 9.3

The only really notable thing about it was the AIm-9Js and CMs. and out of those 2. Id consider the CMs the more valuable asset.

As for low speed dogfighting. I would not recommend anyone doing that.

Also not the words Id use to describe the 30mm ADEN.

They have the advantage in the Hunter of being mounted in a good place, which means you arent fighting wierd gun positions or angles like you are in the Harrier or Lightning and going from 2 to 4 guns means you put out a more consistant blast of rounds. But they are still 30mm ADENs with pretty extreme ballistic drop off making them some of the harder to use guns at that BR.

If you are careful. I tend to find that if im not, they have worse energy retention than most jets

100% sure Mr tiger tank is an artificial life form. No way a human could write like this.

Though I honestly don’t disagree too much with this, just how it is stated is very weird.

Also doesn’t really have a point, he just states a few types of aircrafts and puts a bait title for attention.

Though literally only one hunter has flares and two have good missiles (I’m counting F.6 as the SRAAM changes will make it a good missile)

But it has a ‘hypersonic’ missile, move it up to 14.3

Not all Hunter’s have flares.

Most of the Hunters are pretty bad

The early F-5s are slightly overperforming with their silly damage model and way too cold angines

Yeah, no

Phantoms are infact flying dumpsters.

and im 95% certain they also have 2ish °/sec too much STR

Yeah, yeah.

thats the best way i casn describe their flight model without getting flagged or heavy censor.

Its actually a S***brick

They really aren’t that bad. Don’t fly them like a dedicated dogfighter and you’ll be fine. The F-4E is even decent in FM imo

F-4E has terrible FM for great missiles.

I do enjoy the handling of the Spey Phantoms and the F-4EJ, but yeah, the Phantoms really are flying bricks

(just like another plane that I enjoy flying, the Tornado)

Winning gunfights vs aircraft that should be eating me for breakfast in the GR4 is the funniest thing in the world
