Arcade Battle should be changed to pure tank battles

Are you talking about the aim indicator that shows when planes get closer? Cause if you are, that is not where you need to aim, it just gives you an idea of where the plane is heading and it’s speed, but you still have to lead your gun to hit it.

Bombers are the only way to counter people camping because otherwise it’d be impossible to take caps.

Also, it does take skill in a bomber if you actually want to survive 1-3 fighters chasing after you because you can die in one spray, and have to take constant evasive maneuvers. They just need to fix the 1000+ meter instant bombs with no warning.

Looks like skill issue.

1, You can drop bombs from far away.
2, Bombers have gunners.
3, You can have air cover from your team.
4, There will not be always enemy planes.
5, You can survive a lot of damage in some bombers.
6, It still does not require skill to use a plane against tanks, since you just have to press a single button. You are also basically invincible against ground.

explain to me then how i got several plane kills per game by aiming at or around the ‘aim indicator’ not a full week ago, but this week have to aim twice the distance of the ‘aim indicator’ to have any chance whatsoever of getting a hit?

i mean, it took several games over several days for me to realise i wasnt just having a bad day , enough for me to have to go to the test grounds to find out what was going on.

things have been changed, thats FACT number one.

nobody got any notifications of said changes, FACT number two.

That and it takes some skill to learn how to lead your shots for a bomber since your camera is positioned above the aircraft.

and of the dirty great aiming display projected onto the ground?

yes, grrrrrreat skill indeed is required

how about this for a suggestion, warthunder introduce tank only and tanks and planes versions of the game, then let the players decide and let the data speak for itself.

it would be my betting that pretty damned soon the cheap shotters would find themselves without any ground vehicles to aim at, and the cheap shotters would have no choice but to foster a few skills in tanks to get their 12 kills per match.

I’m not gonna tell you about skill like others are doing, I just described what that aim indicator, which in fact is called lead indicator but I was not remembering the correct term, does. It shows you the heading and speed of the plane you have selected but you still have to lead your guns to hit the target. I also play planes and SPAAs a lot and it happens to me that sometimes I can’t hit my targets cause I’m not leading good enough, and I’m not an average player on both.

But there is something called server sync, when it’s bad it behaves just like what you are describing and you have to lead your guns more than you would normally do. It usually gets worse during events, that’s why some players complain about bad hit detection in events(me included).

This game is constantly being changed, it has been like this since always. They just need to change bullet spread to make you miss your shots, similar to when you get a stock vehicle.

And not all changes will appear on the changelogs, there are stealth changes to the game that are usually only found through datamining, but I don’t believe that those are all that we get.

its funny thats not how the lead indicator works in planes isnt it???

to hit a plane your shot need to be on that target to provide enough lead for your shots to hit.

so why is it so different to AB tanks vs planes? hmm?

is it possibly because flyers are complaining they dont get much opportunity to rofl stomp tanks with the pesky spaa spoiling their fun? i think so.

It’s exactly how it works in planes. In planes you have to lead your shots as you do in SPAAs.

No, you have to always lead your shots depending also on the distance to your target. Even if you are doing a head on, you have to lead a bit higher to compensate gravity(bullet drop).

It’s not.

I have no problems doing both, as long as I don’t have interceptors spawning close to my bomber or attacker. And I also play SPAAs a lot and get my air kills.

As I told you sometimes server sync is pretty bad and that causes very bad hit detection in planes, same thing could be happening between SPAA and planes. When you said you have to lead more that is usually what you have to do to compensate that cause there is a delay in what you see and what the server “sees”.

I just had a match in Flanders where we stop having planes after the first 7min of the match, does anyone saw a similar thing before? It could be Gaijin testing some change to the CAS mechanic but it was very weird.

I would be very pissed if I was sitting on a SPAA like I saw some players do and wait for planes that would never come.

  1. No you don’t. You have to fly about 1-2 km to the battle field which takes about 10-20s depending on the speed of the plane before you can drop bombs.
  2. Gunners are absolutely worthless on the bombers. I get maybe 1 kill in every 50 bombing runs against a fighter.
  3. Air cover doesn’t help because of the randomized spawns of the attacking planes. If the attacking fighter spawns in an intercept path they’re already firing at the bomber before you’re in position to defend them. Also, the fighters will just ram the bomber anyway.
  4. True.
  5. No you don’t if you get a bomber that has no mobility. 90% of the time my tail, wing, flaps, pilot, etc. are all gone before I even make it to the battlefield. It’ll be often the first spray takes your whole tail section off instantly. I got a whole montage of dying or being severely crippled in the first 6s of flying my bomber.
  6. It doesn’t take skill to put a reticle over a tank, but at the same time doing that while pulling evasive maneuvers while having 2 fighters chasing you around at the same time takes skill. If I get an actual bomber that has mobility I’m pulling spins, turns, and bobbing up and down while trying to put a reticle over the target.

Bombers are needed to counter campers though. I was playing Eastern Europe earlier and there was a whole 4 man squad camping down the northern side of the map across the river overlooking B. They’re all bushed up 80% efficiency players pixel peaking through gaps. I got in a bomber and dropped a couple 800kg bomb right in the middle of them and wiped them out so we could retake B and win the match.

Most other examples are usually trying to bomb out the TDs and others sitting way in the back of the map trying to snipe.

I’m more advocating a rebalance of bombers in general for AB. Smaller payloads, but more survivability.

The only reason people get bombed in arcade are that they are bad, or doesn’t pay attention.
The bombs have a 10 second timer, so if they are dropped from low altitude you just move away before they explode. Unless you sit still and doesn’t move, you are a VERY hard target to hit from high altitude.
So when there’s an enemy bomber in the air, you move, and you won’t get bombed.

You might have noticed, that there are these pesky things, called, “engine”, “transmission”, “tracks”, “diver”, that when destroyed, the tank can’t move.

There are also open tops, that very often can not move fast enough to avoid the blast.

Not always, as i just explained.

Nope. Not only there are a lot of cases where you are immobilized, but also where you are in a position where you can just not move.

But i mean, what do you know, you can’t even have a good stat as a sealclubber.

You can with most bombers by elevating the front of the plane, thereby tossing the bomb further.

It is way more, and even if you were to be true, it is still more than nothing.

Pure speculation.
A fighter is much easier to shoot down with a fighter, than a bomber. Any competent player with an esort fighter will shoot down the enemy interceptor.

Bad luck. Or more likely skill issue.

I am one of the worst pilots, yet even i can do it.

They don’t. You think this, because you have skill issue. If you are in any way a skilled player you can counter using tank.

Yeah, why would you learn to play to their level and engage in a fair fight, when you can just be coward and use a bomber.
They took the time to learn to play well, to master tanks and map positions, while you are just cowardly bombed them.

They do not have a delay fuse when dropped from 1000+ meters up. They explode on impact. You used to hear the bombs whistling when they were dropped from high altitude so you could still move, but that isn’t the case anymore.

The only warning you have that a bomb is coming from that altitude is your tank exploding.

Yea that needs reporting a bit more and more demonstrating of the instance of it happening.

Nor do they sometimes when dropped from low altitude.

It happens every single time. It’s not isolated incidents.

Sometimes I hear the whistling 1-2 seconds before its about to hit, but most of the time the bomb just explodes with no warning.

I always drop my bombs from 1000+ meters as well using the crosshair reticle or bomb sights. Only the noobs try and low level bomb.

Definitely something to test, it should be about the speed, and the bomb itself.

I’d chuck it into custom battles and get someone to drop bombs and see what you can find.

Also, in regards to bomber durability. Literally just did a match where I got a bomber twice and I was dead in the first 5 seconds before I could even react.

1st bomber the tail was instantly shot off
2nd bomber my entire plane just exploded

And this was with 1-2 fighter escorts

Gotta work on those mods, upgrade crew vitatlity, and fly like your cat is messing with your mouse hand.

Recognize when they hit 1km out, and start shuffling. In doing this though, remember your turret gunners need to be ‘awake’ so don’t bounce them around too much.

(I just realised, duh, arcade ground spawn air battles)

Fully shuffle more and try get faster, faster.
