If you play Air Arcade battle between BRs 2.3 and 6.7,which usually is a relaxing bracket to play thanks to the lack of fast-paced combat with AAMs, nowadays you’ll probably encounter one or several people that all do the same thing: spawn on a blatantly over BRd plane, climb to insane altitudes, fly to the enemy spawn and either start energy trapping everyone who dares climbing or spawncamp bombers.
If it’s a coordinated team they can effectively block the battle and make their team win without even playing the objective (either capturing points, destroying bases or AI units).
This thing is honestly annoying and must stop before the majority of AB players either leave the gamemode or start abusing this tactic, making every AB match a “climb, kill, repeat” .
A possible solution is to add a 15s killzone that starts 100 metres under the lowest spawn and ends at max height,so that allied planes can safely climb inside this zone to cancel the energy advantage of the enemy plane and enemy planes can’t enter to instantly destroy anyone because they’ll be dead before even trying to do that
Two spawn points per side, evenly spaced so no advantage. Remove the markers of enemy spawn points from the mini map.
And additionally I would say adding another, 3rd “progressive” spawn point as the game also . . progresses, would be beneficial as well. No map in any mode for any vehicle type should have a single, clearly marked spawn point for each side, minimum of two.
Many maps in Air AB have spawns that are way to far back, especially at certain BRs. Playing what is clearly a “jet” map at 4.7, such as Spain or several others is just additional penalties to the player. If you die, and you will . . . it’s Arcade after all, besides the repair costs, you also incur an extreme waste of time respawning at the original spawn point and having to fly far too long to get back in the action.
Some maps you spend 60% - 70% of your play time, just getting to the action.
People that enjoy this kind of delay play RB . . we don’t really need it in AB at all.
Spawning system and the ease at which players can go and camp the spawns in almost every single game mode and map, really needs to be addressed after all these years. I dunno why it has not been reworked yet, but to me personally, it is no longer . . . “good enough” . . we really should get an overhaul that is more suited to the faster paced game play that Arcade players enjoy . .
Just my opinion tho . . .
Or here’s a novel idea. Instead of diving into the furball like 90% of Arcade players at the start of a game, maybe climb at the start and try to put a stop to the spawncampers before they actually start doing that. Air superiority is also an objective. That you don’'t like it, doesn’t change that fact.
With a single spawn on each side, the vast majority of players simply fly straight at each other and do a mass head on lemming suicide thing. Doesn’t really matter if anyone climbs too much or not.
Spawn camping is not near as bad as it has been in the past. They have moved most spawns so far back, it’s just not the same as before. But there are still the dedicated spawn camping squadrons and a few lone wolves that do it now and again.
To me the spawning system just needs a rework, spawn camping is only a part of the problems we have . . . there are others as I mentioned above.
So simply don’t climb but dive and don’t spawn bombers until you gained air superiority again.
OMG, there is actually strategy to this game? You should read the objective list again, there is another item on the list… kill red players.
This thing has been around for at least 10 years. You can easily evade it if you know the game a bit better.
If the majority of the players would be abusing this tactic, we would get air superiority duels again, which would be a nice change.
Brilliant idea, so you are not only safe from those pesky fighters but no red bomber can attack your airbase either.
Instead of this useless sugestions, why not simply learn how to deal with it? It isn’t even hard.
While i kinda agree that climbing at the start to stop the enemy from doing that, There should probably be something to help kill these people a bit easier.
Like having interceptor/air defense spawns be double the alt of a normal spawn.
Mainly cause there are some planes that will just destroy a team if left unchecked (Even in arcade).
Going through your points though.
Spoiler
While there should be a bit more importance to the objectives, its still arcade which is basically just tdm. Though some counter play to having op aircraft destroy your entire team without the ability to be contested would be very good.
Been like this for years, and it’s hasn’t grown that much if at all. It is annoying when it happens, though what isn’t in this game lol.
Probably not a max height, maybe like 800ish meters or so to keep people from just climbing to space uncontested to do the same thing to the enemy. This should also be enough to keep them from diving on bombers and such while in their spawn. (or like what i said above)
If the spawn camper is skilled and in a good position, there is no “evading” unless your plane is much faster right from the start. “Knowing the game better” does not help at all for the sitting duck or for the piece of cake.
Are you regularly playing air in the BR range the OP mentioned? I do almost daily and I can tell you he is absolutely right. However, I do not have a good idea as for how to take measures against it. A kind of technical no-fly zone would seem unnatural. Maybe longer spawn protection (-time)?
The camper has two choices: either follow your fighters dive down far below the fighter spawn (A) or to go back up again and wait for the next potential victim (B).
If he picks A, he is below your teams spawn altitude and risks damage or destruction. Most campers don’t choose A, because there is no gain for them. If he picks B, you are out and can play to win, while he can keep stat padding.
You shouldn’t play sitting duck in the bomber spawn while you have lost air superiority there. If you are camped, bombers are off limits.
About 30k battles in air arcade.
The most important one is to use chat right away and type “campers high mid low, dive!” Then tell your team what to do, in case they haven’t figured it out yet.
If your team reacts correctly, it will win.
Usual Ki-44 Hei spawncamper,i decide to do a goofball and spawn in my D-5 Stuka with the added 20mm pods
I take advantage of his focus against an allied bomber to hit him hard, but not hard enough to kill him because his friend beelines me. I win the 1v1 but i’m too damaged to chase the Hei,which is now returning to its base. I land, repair,do some other kills then died.
Lo and behold, that Hei was still operational, but now instead of farming kills above our spawn he was in the mothball, taking advantage of his sharp turn rate to win any 1v1 he faced.
A plane that can space climb to spawnkill will always be a plane unbeatable at low altitude in AAB,unless you either take it by surprise or launch a 5v1 at it.
I have a folder of events of planes (most of the time Japanese) that space climb, spawncamp and are extremely aggressive.
Hell one time i dared to kill a premium Hei with my G50 (lmao) and not only he respawned right back in,he chased me,lost ALL of his energy to go low altitude, destroyed me and then calmly returned back orbit to do its business undisturbed because he fended off everyone who tried to oppose him.
So no,all of your points are a bit arrogant, they’re the epitome of the “should’ve sideclimbed” meme
Dodging is not always the key. Unless you have a plane which is more maneuverable than the enemy’s, 99% of the time they’re the first to evade and go up,forcing you to go down and instantly assume a defensive position in which your only option is to dive faster than its speed. But since he has more energy than you, it’s hard to evade them any further
So yeah, either ignore them from the start or form a squad in which one is the bait and the others are the predators
You can dodge anything, it’s all about timing and the risk you take by delaying that so long, whilst still slightly changing course.
The fact of the ‘subject’ of this thread being fixed to only what you want to complain about makes it that there’s going to be no discussion here, just you denying and deflecting every point made to keep on your want for this protection.
You don’t need it, and if they got there already, then that’s on you and your team for letting them get there unabated.
I am so tired of Ki-44s, one can just dive and then climbing for a insane length until it stalls, meanwhile they are a Japanese design so they can still turn unlike the Mustangs. Sometimes B7A2s also act as space climbers in AB, feels like they are just a turn fighter carrying bombs and gets a free air spawn in RB.
I’m thinking where did you guys leave the thought process when someone touches your precious toy.
This comment, here,is nothing but pretentious claims
Yeah, incredible right?i want to complain about lvl 100 with a 12 K/D ratio on OP planes that spawncamp at low BRs and destroy the experience for low lvls. But i guess i’m too in denial huh?
Said who?FlyingDoctor? That’s a wild assumption
Classic behaviour of accusing always and only the victims, never the one responsible for the act. it shows that wither you don’t play those BRs,you represent the 1% or you’re also using those tactics.
The ammount of times I call out spawn campers, tell the team to dive from them and then still see some climbing to stall out for them to be got, makes my ‘accusation’ little more than fact.
Them getting you isn’t a problem as it’s the aim of the game, the need for the fix is a skill issue.
Ahhh the old 'You don’t agree with me SO YOU MUST BE ONE OF THOSE WHO DOES THIS TO ME…"
And I think you are projecting your own attitudes.
And if you had paid attention then you would have learned that a 12 K/D guy is way too concerned about this stat as to take any risks, like diving below your spawn. So just dive and go for the ground objectives. And warn the team, so the experience of the low levels is improved.
I said it too.
This is a competitive game with rules. Your team made decisions and now faces consequences. You are now limited in your options. Act accordingly to win, don’t call for mom (aka gaijin) when others score goals you didn’t guard.
So do I and some others here. And how do you know this anyway. Maybe you do represent the minority?
I sometimes even call teammates directly that keep respawning and climbing with foaming mouth to die repeatedly instead of defeating the red team. There is no protection against stupid play like that, other than not to play.
We knew he would be on this tangent from pretty far up in the thread. Multiple personal attacks against people not sharing his view, like:
