ANZAC Day is an annual public holiday in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates the service and sacrifice of all Australians and New Zealanders in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Celebrated on April 25th, a date which marks the campaign of Gallipoli in 1915 in the First World War, the first major campaign of the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) which led to a major loss of life.
The first ANZAC Day took place the very next year in 1916. Originally it was about the ANZACs specifically who served in Gallipoli however after WW2 it became a day to remember all of those who have sacrificed in service of their country. Dawn Services are held annually on the day, including a major one at Gallipoli in Turkey. A red Poppy is often worn as a sign of remembrance, symbolic of the Poppy flowers on the fields of WW1. “The Last Post” is also played at Dawn Services as a sign of remembrance.
ANZAC Day was once marked in War Thunder but I don’t believe it has been since 2015. Aside from feeling personally it’d be nice to have it once again remembered in game, it is also an opportunity to offer some small commemorative Australian and New Zealand content.
Some suggestions off the top of my head:
