Anti-Tank Landmines

so are you thinking like a light tank type? or would it be like battlefield 5 airplanes that can drop landmines while flying over

Here my opinion: mines would be great! for defense and for offense too. Some mines could be dropped from air (as it happens often since ww2), some could be placed with lights, special tanks and some tank destroyers. Take out the V spot option from those who has the mine placing option, or change the artillery barrage to mine artillery barrage (like arty shells but place as mines). Limit the mines number (5-10 max from one spawn), and be in RB highlighted for own team, but not for the enemy, in SB dont highlight it, be hardcore to watch it. Could be destroyable with Machineguns, arty, guns, bombs, atc. If the player who dropped the mine is dead, make it 5 min cooldown and selfdestroy the mine. Mak the minde protection and bulldozer modules useful against the mines.
Finally: give near spawn zones some random mine fields and show those on the minimaps for the own team, for defend the spawn against campers (or anti tank groups, like in WW2 event battle, to defend the spawn zone a little) and make some “überaschung” (surprise). It would be tested before that, but sound for me great.

meh more modern tanks like the SEP and Bradley have methods of not dying to mines, at most a broken track or two.

I think that mines shouldn’t work like bombs but rather be simulated like a shot. so if you drive over a mine with your track and not your underside you will only get tracked and you would prolly surive that. also i dont think that driving over mines with anything other than the tracks should activiate the mines (unless the tank has extra small clearence) since the underside of a tank doesnt reall exert force on the mine.

now that’s a good idea

I think this would be a good idea. Have even thought about it in the past. If it was up to me, this is what I would do. In Arcade Ground, when a mine is laid by you, all friendlies can see it via marker and drive over it without detonating it. In Realistic Ground, when you lay a mine, all friendlies can see it via a marker, but will detonate it if they drive over it. And in Ground SIM, when you lay down a mine, only you can see it via marker, but no one else on the friendly team can see it via marker. It would be up to inform your team that you laid down mines and up to them to listen.

I like your idea that only IFVs can lay mines. As for the laying of only one mine, its an ok idea. I think being able to lay a total 2 or 3 would be better. Maybe lay 1 mine as a stock modification then being able to lay an additional mine from a modification upgrade.

Another idea, under visual crew upgrades, it would help players on enemy teams to see a mine via a marker once they are close enough. No visual upgrades means you will never get a marker/mine warning. but with a max visual upgrades, you get a marker/mine warning at a distance of… say 15ft (4.5m). If you are driving to fast, it probably won’t help you, but if you are driving slow enough, it could save you. If you do end up seeing mines, team colored markers will appear to tell you if its friend or foe. Also, mines can be shot and destroyed with machine gun fire or large enough explosions.

We have the ammo crate thing now, so adding land mines is posable. Even give it the same time limit. You can NOT deploy a mine for the first 30sec after spawn. It also takes 10sec to build/deploy the mine. Also, you can NOT deploy mines in both friendly or enemy spawn.

The one major problem I can see is, penalties. Should a mine layer penalized for damaging a friendly with a mine? There is a troll problem. In ground arcade, it would not be a problem because no friendly fire. As for Ground Realistic and SIM though???

Magnetic mines. Finally the glorious German Zimmerit can serve its purpose

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but… that’s not what Zimmerit was for…

The Zimmerit was for anti-tank magnetic mines, meaning it was anti-magnetic paint, right? We can make some mines magnetic so that the Tiger Es and Panthers should be able to benefit from these.

Well, as far as my knowledge goes, Zimmerit was for Magnetic AT Grenades that infantry would run up and stick on the tanks.
Magnetic mines didn’t actually use magnets to stick to the tanks, instead they used magnets to detect when a large magnetic object (in this case a tank) was above it, and detonate.

Uhhh…Yeah that. I think AI soldiers are good?

Funny thing is that Germany was the only country that had a magnetic AT grenade. So it was a defense against their own weapon that no one else bothered to copy.

actually, at least the British had Magnetic AT grenades, so presumably America and Russia did too
(just did a quick search, don’t ask for details lol)

Yea…I guess, tho it who be nice to give Germany a perk.

Umm…I don’t know if this helps, but I think I saw a WT mobile ad with mines. They damaged the tracks on tanks when they rolled over in the ad. Maybe foreshadowing?

hmmmm, interesting. but considering it was a WT Mobile ad, don’t get your hopes up.

Yeah…I mean they are like two different games. Like there were two Germanys once.

The original Border wall XD

Ahh…The very border wall that someone [can’t say or the post gets flagged] will build. And some country [Redacted] will pay for.

what no. I was talking about the Berlin Wall that was used to separate east and west Germany during the cold war
