An open letter to Gaijin, from the War thunder Sim community, about their negligence towards the players

Dear developers

We, from the Simulator Community, through this letter, hope to reach you to address a problem that doesn’t only affects EC, Ground Sim battles, Air Rb; but the entire game. In the last big letter by the Sim Community, the request for it to be addressed was implicit, but was definitely there, it has always been there, since the early days of war thunder, and it this issue has been increasingly severed in the last years.

First, it must be said that, we are, of course, very glad on how much effort was done towards all the details, range of vehicles, from ww1 to modern, the early VR support. Even linux users can play the game natively! And all this lead to the biggest, truly combined, vehicle combat game out there, so we sincerely thank you for all.

The most critical problem of nowadays, have been growing and dismissed through the years, and it isn’t bugs, exploits, balance or lack of content, but the way you have NOT been receiving our feedback, due to your negligence. This issue comes from the fact that we see no effort at all towards the players. The only way we had hope to get you to listen to our issues, the forum, has been of no use at all. It is supposed to be a bridge between developers and player, which is definitely not the case at the moment, and hasn’t been for many years.

Many complaints, with an impressive amount of support, the oldest of them with over 12 years of discussion, not only haven’t been addressed, but seems like to not even being read about. We feel like ghosts; we give suggestions, fixes of exploits, bugs, bad design fixes, many times the proper source material, but we simply receive no response, which in turn lead us to frustration and makes the game unbearable to play.

This, last time, lead to the boycott and negative reviews by the players; but, instead of seeing the main problem, you double down: not only you did not fix the way you handle players inputs, but nowdays the rewads system of Sim Battles is notorious for being terrible, both in reward aspects and gameplay wise.

In the way this issue have been going, we saw many left for other combat games, and we lost many opportunities of improvement. For every tiny bit of change in an update, months or, more usually, years of complaints are required, so much effort and time spend, for almost no changes.

Based on what was said above, we ask you to improve the way you interact and receive feedback from us, war thunder players, so we can create, together, a more interesting, fun, engaging and rewarding experience, an experience that is precisely what War Thunder is supposed to be!

We are afraid of war thunder not only Dying by lack of players, but by lack of Substance.

Thank you for you attention,
Players of The Simulator Community

Agreed, If nothing else, the fact air sim has gone 3 years without a new map, shows just how little care they have for the Sim community

We’re three months since the “fix” for carriers in SIM was to remove them as a spawn point and no news on fixing them.

How long have the convoys AAA been uber-mega-death lasers?

I suspect that there is a conscious choice to create a “managed decline” of SIM.

Additionally, how long have convoys at top tier been glitching in and out of the ground.

The state Sim is in is appalling. Lack of new maps + botting issues + lack of meaningful rewards and progression in the mode is making people just simply stop playing Sim. I myself have taken a step back from Sim and now just have my own fun setting up user missions and flying in VR there as I don’t have to worry about the majority of the issues affecting Sim.

Also not to mention the cockpit issues with many aircraft. I have been compiling a list of all the issues I have seen regarding cockpits and there’s over 150 issues that haven’t been fixed. I made the list in December 2024 and about 7 issues have been fixed in all that time.

Thought it would be appropriate to link it here considering what this topic is about.

If sim had some care put into it i would dust off my HOTAS to play it.

For those that are now looking at this letter, know that the proofs I posted here, in this same post, were removed by gaijin as not proper for general discussion(???), so i leave a link to a reddit post I made, that marks many cases of negligence on their part

https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/1nmxzj5/an_open_letter_to_gaijin_and_a_call_to_all_war/

And to the mod that removed my message, remember that this is relevant to what is being discussed

Gaijin has almost always acted on their own accord, making decisions based on their own interest (game balance, profits, etc) while staying silent and working behind closed doors.

I’d wager they have corporate meetings handling decision making for game changes, community interactions, priority for certain bug reports, and more. It’s honestly really tiresome: if they want to do their own thing, fine, but they should have a bit of transparency and be more up front about their policies, and not play around with their playerbase and give us an illusion that we’re being heard when in fact that’s just a consciously selective decision on their part. The current state of the playerbase as a result is a lot of burnout and isn’t exactly healthy.

I dont even know what the Idea of those defense fighters is at this BR, like isnt Sabre a bit outdated when everyone is flying Tornado’s/Eurofighter/Rafale/F-15/F-16/F-18/Su-30 and so on?

Yeah… but that does kinda lead back into this entire thread though.

The gamemode hasnt been updated since the sabre was a relevant top tier aircraft
