Most of the lethality comes from having small notch angles with the ability to relock. Most players aren’t rolling sparrows, and the speed difference only comes into play when it actually does which is not every engagement. Further, even if you DO know to sparrow roll, it takes effort and positioning to pull off, and usually leaves you vulnerable to followup attack.
Feel free to check my statcard.
This is in your head. What mechanic do you think would cause this?
I’d say the mig-29 is not a balanced aircraft its pretty fucked in its current state actually, and honestly 13.0 9m f-18c would be borderline cancerous it’d need 13.3 for that in sim at least that’s just too many 9ms. You have to factor in the most common maps in sim are very flat and the 9m has a massive advantage going into a merge or fired from radar off since it’d definitely be infinitely better than the 13.0 f-16 with 9m 's
These are proposed changea for RB, it’s not the same as SB becuase in the latter you can take advantage of your radar, but even then I wouldn’t move it there for the same reasons I mentioned before, shifting compression somewhere else is not good. Also, putting it at the same BR as the SU30MK or even the SU27/33 is wild, you can’t be serious lol.
SB is a whole different beast with it’s own fuck ups like the F4E being at the same BR as the MiG 21 MF/SMT, so it deserves its own thread.
No, most of the lethality comes from it just being a better weapon overall, when comparing the 2, you have less time with the 27ER to react and it’s harder to defeat it kinematically, not to mention they don’t have Sparrow issues like going straight up or straight down to nowhere city. Again, comparing the Sparrow to the 27ER is wild, be honest with me, you can’t possibly think there’s a horrendous gap between 7F and 7P, but not between any AIM 7 and the 27ER.
Regarding multipath, 27ER has a much bigger explosion radius, so you have way more risk of receiving splash damage. Additionally, the 27ER is just better at stay on track due to its speed alone.
At least, you can roll Sparrows indefinitely, and it’s much better to be exposed to follow up attacks than dying from the first launch.
Yeah, if fired at a vegetable they both get the kill, same if I fire a 9B at said vegetable, but that’s not what we are talking about here. If both are fired at the same target in a headon at 20km, the 27ER would reach its target at least 5 seconds faster if both aircraft are at the same speed, but because the 29 can go much much faster than the f18, the gap can be increased tremendously. That’s a lot of time to position yourself for a notch, multipath, not to mention, again, that you can fire back at the F18 and roll its sparrow without losing your lock.
Well by definition, if you have much less time to notch, it means it’s much harder to notch. But notching a Sparrow is a waste of time because the best way to evade them is to just retaliate and roll, you can’t reraliate a 27ER with another Fox 1.
What are we even arguing, 27ER is the best missile in the game, it’s in a fast platform, it has less of a business in a downtier than anything thay uses sparrows. Even at 14.3 27ER is the preferred missile, while anyone would trade their sparrows for a diet coke lol.
It absolutely is. With the new radars with a great scan angle, you can now notch and maintain lock, which was the main disadvantage of Fox 1. You won’t see a SU30SM2 worth their lick that doesn’t bring any 27ER.
Oh yeah of course nobody is going to ditch the ARH as they are much more convenient and has it’s own set of advantages. However, if you really want someone dead, you drop a 27ER lol.
