Swiss

The Swiss army originates from the armies of each canton. In 1848, with the creation of the Swiss Confederation, the military was unified. The Swiss Army had several independently developed tanks, and the Swiss defense company MOWAG also manufactured and exported a variety of armored vehicles. The Swiss army once had more than 700,000 troops, but after the unification of East and West Germany, disarmament continued and it currently maintains about 150,000 troops.

Austria

The Austrian military, Bundesheer, originated from Volkswehr in 1918. Volkswehr was converted into Bundesheer in 1920 when the First Republic of Austria was established, and was disbanded after the Anschluss. After the establishment of the Second Republic of Austria in 1955, Bundesheer was revived and armed with weapons from various countries to protect Austria’s neutrality. Austria has developed many armored vehicles such as the Pandur, and among them is the Pinzgauer, which is famous for its ability to penetrate rough terrain. Between Schweizer Armee and Bundesheer , there are close ties, which gives legitimacy to the Alpine TT, a joint TT between the two countries.

Henri Guisan

y4Sxg4T.jpg
Henri Guisan is Switzerland’s most respected military man. He was commissioned as a lieutenant and was promoted to brigadier general in 1921, division commander in 1927, and corps commander in 1932, the highest rank in the Swiss Army in peacetime. Shortly before the outbreak of World War II, Switzerland elected a ‘general’, a rank used only in times of national emergency, and Henri Guisan was promoted to general with 204 out of 231 votes from members of parliament. He created the ‘National Redoubt’, the doctrine of the Swiss Army during World War II, and after World War II ended, in August 1945, he thought that his role in the army was over and retired.
Henri Guisan died on 7 April 1960 at the age of 85, and his funeral drew 300,000 people, the largest crowd in Swiss history to mourn his death.

Swiss astronaut Claude Nicollier would also be a good one, as he also flew Hunters in the Swiss Air Force.

And for female representation: Fanny “Shotty” Chollet.

Fanny Chollet’s profile icon already exists in Alpine Aviation TT. I will add Cloude Nicollier’s profile icon to Alpine Aviation TT later. Thanks.

I will update Alpine Ground TT soon. The update will include several vehicles, including the GT13 AFS. If you know of a vehicle that would be good to add, please let me know. :)

Absolutely positively yes! Switzerland is one of the last independently capable countries with a local aviation industry that spans several tiers, add Austria to that and you have the recipe for greatness!

+1!

Aren’t the FSCV-90’s and KUPz 1/90 Leonidas/Leonidas 2 LT prototypes or did the Austrians actually trialed their Saurer 4K 4FA’s to be LT’s/FSV’s

Otherwise a massive +1 to me

It’s kinda sad when a fan made tt suggestion has a better AA line than more than half the nations in game…

Biiiig +1 from me! Though I think we should have a M47 Arnold as a premium in some form just because funny

I want Switzerland to be added to the game no matter what, and if that means dealing with Austrian copy-paste, then I guess I’m ok with that. +1

As a supporter of full-scale mockups, I think the Neuer Kampfpanzer would be a very interesting pick for high tier, representing the point in time where Switzerland chose to switch to foreign-built MBTs (Leopard 2A4) rather than continue with production of their own designs. A sort of “what-could-have-been” for a very real and tangible vehicle.

As far as I know it is a mockup.

LATS (Light Armoured Turret System)
LPTS (LeichterPanzerTurmSystem)

You might be right actually. Here’s some more info:

  • I believe (although my German isn’t perfect) that this says that at the time of writing, Rheinmetall needed 24 months to build a prototype of the turret, and 36 months for production of 7 prototype turrets. I’m not sure when the LPTS turret was showcased on the Shark – if it was around the same time, it would be a mock-up. But, if later, it could be the real thing. If it were shown around the same time, I would think these publications would have images of it as well, but they don’t seem to, just drawings and the photo of the model turret.

Speaking of Leonidas 2’s have you even considered adding them to this TT since even though they are Greek they are a evolution of the Saurer 4K 4FA and some Austrian (and Spanish) defense firms did some technical assistance in developing it

Although there is very limited information about the FSCV, I know it was not mass produced and Austria was involved in its development, so I added it to the tech tree.

Nonsens. There is no state whose territory lies exclusively in the alps except Liechtenstein and Monaco.

Grumpy is right

just saying, i doubt the LTL-H would be suitable for the game

here is a quick translation of the gun used in this tank. it has the ammunition weight and velocity

it would have 21mm of penetration at point blank. and this is IF the gun has AP rounds.

knowing that the 12.7mm M2HB has much better penetration and remains ill-suited for most situations while being only saved by the fact it carries a 200 rounds magazine, I doubt a gun that penetrates 30% less, has a lower fire rate and less ammunition would do a good job. outside the gun, the tank is good.

the PanzerWagen 39 would be more suited to be reserved. the 30mm of armor on the front is fairly thin for a reserve, but it is flat and the side is much weaker. the 24mm gun is not that great either even if it has APHE. those aren’t auto-cannon, just semi-automatic riffles. it has a 2-second reload between each shot. the penetration is decent but not great. the APHE will penetrate 30mm at combat distance which would make it unable to deal with the front of most targets, and the AP round penetrates 45mm of armor which would be just good enough to deal with most targets at a short distance. the mobility is nothing exceptional either. it’s going to be weaker than similar tanks such as the Pz 35 (t) which feature similar mobility and protection while being much better armed.

i found the details on the 2 cruiser tank that was tested in Switzerland

I found those in a Video available in the Swiss Federal Archive. One was an M4A4 (identified as Sherman 4A4) and the other was a Canadian Ram Mk.II early. I corrected the list of former military equipment on Wikipedia based on it

while been copy-paste and I am not a big fan of copy-paste, and was only used for instruction purposes, those tanks were in working condition (except for the gun) and since Switzerland lacked proper vehicles, and dearly in rank 2, I would suggest those to be added to add some proper tanks in rank 2 just to not have a gap of real material between 2.3 and 4.3
