Allow us to ping the map on spawn screen

I can’t say the number of times i was near some allies on ground battles, then suddenly i spot a enemy tank behind us who destroys me 1st and i cant fucking alert my teammates because i cant ping the map till i spawn again, its infuriating lol.
The amount of times i tried to mark on the map while on spawn screen is amusing, always expecting to… “What if Gaijin finally implemented this on the last update?” then i try to warn my allies and nope, i cant.

This is an easy change and will favor everyone, better communication in cases like this.

Btw i tried to summon this post on the “Suggestions” Topic but every time i try to create a post on the suggestions topic it goes for a “Waiting for a mod to review this” then suddenly dissapears and there is no trace of it. Maybe im missing something or they expect me to do a post with a large amount of text like the rest of suggestions over there but what im supposed to say? this is a simple mechanic suggestion, there is no more to say

Actually, it sometimes works…

When you’re progressing into the spawn screen, I can sometimes ping the map when in the transition. Once you’re in it though, you generally can’t as you are selecting your spawn at that stage.

I feel as though I am holding alt somewhere though… Dunno, it’s all so fast that it’s also when I’ve pulled the map up, prior to dying maybe.

It doesn’t work anymore. I noticed that a bit ago, but the map disappears to prevent it.

Nah, I feel it’s still working. Even after the map disappears, when it pops back up you can still hit it. (I really do think you keep holding that alt)

you could but wont most of the cases since you take 2 seconds to figure the exact position of the enemy to alert your teammates and by then the deathcam started then you skip and go to spawn screen then you cant ping anymore, it sucks, they should implement a properly and working solution for this, not a QUICK TIME EVENT for it

It doesn’t take that long to figure out where they were, and if it does then you didn’t really know where they were so you shouldn’t be pinging then.

it depends on the situation but anyways it doesnt matter, the point of this post is Gaijin should implement a proper and working way to ping on the map after dying allowing us to use the spawn screen map.

The issue with that, is the ‘after dying’ part, you’re communicating from the grave on a ouija board…

this should be more of a gameplay mechanic focused rather than a “realistic approach” mechanic.

They already show the players on the map within an area of your spawn, so if they add in that the map should highlight those attacking spawn protected players then that’d work, but pinging the map after you’ve died isn’t really a good thing.

I do, but it doesn’t keep the map up for as long anymore.

Rather than just ‘pinging’ the maps, we should be able to put markers on the map like arrows and bits for planning and such.

that would be an awesome idea too, maybe you should bring it up on a own post and show some examples

Yes even realistic war simulators allow a player to highlight the map and show where an enemy tank/formation etc is. I would also go one further and allow aviation to see the command map and not the overall navigation map so they can see what street/area has been pinged.

My personal opinion on this (as Ground Battle enjoyer):

No. It will create Battlefield Commanders wannabe (anyone remember good old time with “I want to be a commander” races in BF2?) - players who just sit in spawn menu, spamming pings on map and trying to force other players to do, what they think should be done. And due to fact that our game do not have a commander function (and before you go full offtopic - if you want to discuss such gameplay, please create separate suggestions ;)) it will leads to nothing more than rage and spam on chat :(

You cannot ping map from spawn screen, because… well, you (your crew) are not on the battlefield, right? You get access to pings only when your crew is on the map.

But as I said, that’s my personal view on this, I did not discussed the reasoning with Game Designers.

Pretty reasonable, in the essence of realism, you’re dead. You can’t ping shit lol. The map is essentially a BFT, you can’t ping it if you just got shwacked.

Though it’s not if it matters anyway. The guys around me never ping anything, and never look at pings.

I’ll be one on one with a teammate at his back, pinging his location and the dude will just drive away lol

You already have players doing this with the recon drones…

Dead players pinging the map makes no sense though.

Drones are physical objects on the battlefield. You need to spawn in drone to be able to operate it and ping position map/mark enemy.

It must be allowed since you still able to ping location after spawning ground again, since your memories did not “wiped” and it was possible before killcam nerfing, devs simply forgot to attach a minimap. Also this busts those silly claims about realism cluck cluck cluck, in this relistic game cluck cluck, with 3D markers casted by a light tank you will never know about, I want to sit behind a rock and snipe clueless enemies thanks to my “holy camera view” and nobody will ping my location in-time cluck.

I do not know how you manage to ended on this path of mind stream, but well, sure, I guess, you can think on it like that. I am thinking on it like on “Altered Carbon” where your mind stream is transfered to another crew (just kidding, I do not think on it in any way, it sounds funny that you even consider this as an argument :D ).

AFAIK it was not possible, I remember that I always wanted to spawn ASAP to be able to ping map with location of enemy who killed me (especially if he was hidding in not so obvious place).
