I think the nuke experience in ground RB could be greatly improved to be more realistic and more fun.
Currently you can only drop the nuke if your plane flies over the ground battle area, which is not very realistic in my opinion.
If you are flying over the battle area, your nuke will may not even fall into the battle area unless you are flying tree top level. You can actually easily toss your nuke to fall down many kilometers from the battle and win, which is unrealistic.
My suggestion is that the nuke should be allowed to be dropped anywhere, but if it does not fall into the battle area, the game is not over. To be more specific: to end the game, the nuke would have to fall into the map area accessible by ground vehicles. (Or maybe the ground battle area plus a margin of ~1km to be more realistic)
I think this would greatly improve the nuke experience, we could toss nukes (using CCRP for example) while flying low and pulling up or we could simply drop it from high altitude. In both cases the carrier aircraft can keep farther away from the battlefield and potential SPAA threats. This would also be inline with how nuke tossing was planned to be used in real life to avoid damage to the carrier aircraft.
It would be also kind of funny to take the nuke plane back to reload if you missed, and for ground vehicles it would be cool to watch a missed nuke explode some kilometers away and still keep playing I think.
Sure but do not delete the bomb release permission then. Because imagine dropping the nuke and just because it felt a couple of km off you dont get the win.
From a technical pov the usage of a tactical nuke above own troops is extremely unrealistic. The nukes should be dropped way behind the front line in order to disrupt enemy reinforcements - either direct by hitting assembling areas or by killing critical infrastructure like an airbase.
So dropping “anywhere” makes this dropping issue way more unrealistic than today…
I object, because the map in the game is actually a smaller version. In real life, your plane may have to fly hundreds of kilometers, or even thousands of kilometers to reach the local battlefield, but in order to shorten the game time, the airport is very close to the target, now fly to the target to drop nuclear bombs. To enhance the game experience. If a nuclear bomb can be dropped at any distance, then the birth distance of the plane should be more than ten times larger. The result is not as good as now.
I truly wonder how anyone can even mention “realistic” in this context.
We’re talking here nukes that are dropped onto a running ground battle, not differentiating between friend and foe - as opposed to the interdiction strike mission mentioned above, which aims at destroying the enemies forces and capability to bring them to bear quite a (safe) bit behind the front…
What commander in his right mind would use such a tactic that annihilates his own forces, especially considering that often (but not exclusively) it’s someone from the winning side that can use it.
“Hey, we have almost succeeded in securing that important village - lets turn it into Hell on Earth where no stone is left standing in this then toxic, radiating wasteland!”
IMO it should be more like the “nuclear thunder” even where you hit supply and staging grounds behind the LoC, like what was suggested in the thread I linked earlier in GRB the nuke rather than being an instant win it could cut off respawns for the team that is hit.
I mentioned in that post that a team that is very significantly losing could nuke the battlefield, as frankly I don’t put it past any nation to hit the last remnants of their forces if they could also do significant damage to the enemy.
This topic is not about whether the match ending nuke should or should not be in the game.
You can currently toss the nuke to a very wide area, the only restriction is you are allowed to release it only when you are over the ground battle area, which makes zero sense.
No, the game is not about hitting assembly lines.
You also dont have to raise a family and send your children to be the tank crew.
Because you said this: “My suggestion is that the nuke should be allowed to be dropped anywhere, but if it does not fall into the battle area, the game is not over.”
Whats the point of dropping a nuke if its not going to do anything because you missed. This could also include missclick incidents.
Your suggestion is very good. Therefore, the nuclear bomb should be dropped at the enemy’s birthplace, and no new enemy vehicles should appear after the bombing. Is the truth.
