Yes it can BnZ decently, but I don’t consider its high speed control to be all that impressive. Sure it doesn’t lock up terribly hard, but it’s still not terribly agile. Couple that with how quickly it bleeds speed even when trying to reset in a long straight ascension compared to what it faces and well, there are better BnZ options.
People overplay what the Wyvern is capable of and it’s old, honestly. Gaijin could’ve remedied this ages ago simply by removing the airspawn, because that’s the only thing that actually gives it a fighting chance for the majority of situations.
Your poor argument was implicative that 2 minutes before the AF AFK was too long, so I simply reminded you of longer repair times that exist due to low crew level.
No record of it happening so you have no gotcha to pull.
Okay, and? Speed’s the only gimmick it has - However other aircraft their own dives after it CAN catch it actually, so you’re casually leaving that out(Again). The only argument people have made for ages simply dwells from the airspawn, which if it didn’t have only the insane would have a complaint about a strictly middlin’ aircraft. Wouldn’t hurt my feelings if it lost it, btw. I only use it for ARB dailies and GRB.
Oh, you don’t say. Here I thought it was a UFO like the Yaks with their fake flight models.
That’s the funny thing - He didn’t have all that much alt and speed to use on you in the first place, nor did he have any elements of surprise either. Could he have taken a chance on you? Sure, but he chose not to. Is what it is, but it’s pretty inaccurate to say he had a complete advantage over you.
I won’t assume to know his brain but I’m guessing he didn’t believe he did so he didn’t tempt it.
The enemy P-51 used af aaa and his top speed advantage - as soon as he got in danger: Back to af aaa. I lost 5 teammates (3 by af aaa, 2 killed because oblivious) due to this, the guy had zero chance to win; tickets were too low, he played 1 vs 6 after ~ 7 minutes and i was always above him. He just scored 2 cheap kills on top of the 2 previous 3rd party kills.
With a realistic chance to win or to get rid of a squad: No
Two quite good pilots squadded up and farmed rookies. I used af aaa to get rid of them (decent from 6 km to 1,8 km after 08:30 ) as it was obvious that they were focused on me (confirmed by chat log btw) and i do not fight vs experienced enemies with an energy advantage if they play coordinated.
They kept their alt (7 + 5,5 km) until about 11 minutes. I reclimbed and was on-co alt after 14 minutes. As they were so eager to farm my team (7 + 2 kills) they forgot the tickets (i was sure that they need to refuel) and I won the match as last survivor of my team with a ticket advantage of 48 tickets (5.504 vs 5.456).
My plan to outfuel them and strafe them or some pillboxes did not work, just one of them refuled. The XP-50 covered his rearming squadmate. Btw: My base bombing killed 40 enemy tickets, what a joke.
Yes and no.
Yes - if you have to kill an op plane whatever it takes.
No - if you acknowledge that you are surrounded by rookies.
I mean i won and lost a hell of matches just because the forward airfield has no aaa cover and a hell of players got killed on those airfields - whilst the outcome of previous fights got often totally reversed.
An example for an undeserved victory as result of a successful strafing attack:
Whilst playing a 3.3 -4.3 match i noticed a Yak-3. As my team was dying i had to kill him at all cost - otherwise i would have no chance to win. So i tracked his flight path, flew a wide turn and killed 3 fighters (2 runs) on their forward airfield coming from behind: 2 (including the Yak-3) during take-off, 1 still repairing.
This changed the outcome of the match - i turned a 2 vs 5 (4 fighters) into a 2 vs 2 and won (imho undeserved) later as sole survivor.
So if gaijin would delete af aaa tomorrow:
Fine for me, i fly then exclusively high alt fighters like the P-47 D-28/30 or would look for a P-38 K with air spawn, no problem.
But what would the player base say? The mode is rotten to the core and is assessed as cheap low skill grinding tool. Gaijin sees props as entry stage to the shiny (and highly profitable) jet BRs. Why would they care about some guys in their forum complaining about af aaa at prop BRs??
Conclusion:
You see what happens at prop BRs on small airfields - a massacre. It is not hard to imagine that we would see the same happening at main airfields; it is obvious that the lack of experience and patience kills this mode, not af aaa.
When the majority of players don’t care if they are fish in a barrel when they land on the small (and not protected) forward airfield it is not hard to imagine what would happen when there would be no af aaa on the main airfield.
From my pov af aaa on the main airfield does not alter the outcome of 99% of all matches. It might feel like a waste of time but at least your RP income increases if you are forced to stay in a match when you don’t trust your remaining team to secure a ticket win (like my Example #1 replay). Nobody is enforced to watch a player circling his airfield - just land and j out and you can play another match.
Clueless about how it works, no big surprise here.
Idk you, but i dont go around asking people if they ever got banned in game for being passive and Gaijin only publish people that has a ban bc the use of bots or hacks.
Thats your skill issue speaking for you, if you knew how to fly it, you wouldnt say something so dumb since, as you say:
And boy it does checks out.
I was literally landed, in front of his airfield, after doing 500km/h, on the deck, while the other guy was higher and faster than me, are you challenged?
currently, airfield AAA is completely inadequate. I just had a battle (11.7, session I.D. 4d9c31b0002a579) where one player was able to continuously fly over our airfield with no consequences, just by staying low to the ground. This made it completely impossible to take off. we still had AAA somewhere, but all of it was on a different corner of the airfield, over a km away from where our planes actually spawn. this made it impossible for me to take off, and he made about 10 strafing passes without receiving any damage (I J’ed out so that my plane wouldn’t get destroyed). this is stupid. there’s no fun or pvp element to getting my stationary plane taken out by some guy before I can even accelerate to my takeoff speed.
worst of all, if I actually wanted to camp my airfield, I would stay at 2km and the guns would work. but since I was legitimately trying to get more ammo, I had to land, which meant he could shoot at me while staying low. so airfield AAA only protects me if I want to camp the airspace above the airfield, not if I want to re-arm
