Airfield AAA Discussion Thread - Air Realistic Battles

The whole reason why I’ve come to the forums was to give my 2cents worth about air field AAA. I would like to see a some what “realistic” approach to air field AAA, especially in air Realistic battles. As in it would be great for the AA to see enemy planes as a threat before they kill 5 people on the run way, too many times I see an enemy plane strafe the entire runway before the AA even begin to fire, and just now I watched a missile system at 11.0 fire into the ground. Realistically AA wouldn’t wait to watch the air force get destroyed they’d be firing early and I don’t think its unfair to say that AA should be of a considerably higher br than that of the planes. As in making an air field strafe much harder and for those who actually make it good for them. Layered air defense would also be great as almost all modern militarys use some form of layered defence, A gun system, Close-missile system, short-medium missile system and then a long range, even just ignoring the last one a gun system and two missile systems would make it feal more realistic and also make airfields actually feel safe, for people who just sit on the runway just have a system that kicks them like the return to battle field just instead call it return to battle… Idk just fed up with how much of a joke the current AA is and wanted to give my opinion on it… Also Gepard AA in heli sim has aim bot turned to the max as they will pilot snipe you from 10km away… can we get these in air realistic to defend us while we rearm?

I mean, how about S-400/Patriots around map middle that shoot at enemy team as soon as the match starts. Now that would be exciting.

This way nobody gets strafed cause everyone is dead within first 3 minutes. It would also guarantee a perfect win ratio balance.

Now, seriously, you can have any kind of AF AAA as long as you tell me - how are you going to stop people from AF camping as in baiting people inside AA deathzone and never leaving it?

Well Realistically, you wouldn’t do that and for the idiots who do just make its a kill zone… friendlys who stay in it for too long get shot down as well… I honestly don’t know how to counter that but I’d rather say focus on the people who try play the game rather than stopping those who try to exploit it. An idea could be to limit AD ammo idk, or create a loiter timer, anyone whos circling around the AF gets grounded after a certain amount of time.

Also I don’t get the point of adding S-400/Patriots to the middle of the map that doesn’t really make sense. How ever for the runways that would make sense and gajin can artificially nerf their range to be something like 5km depending on the map. Or even something dumb like when theres only one person left make AA stop working all together I really don’t know. Also technically baiting people inside AA deathzone isn’t a bad strat exactly, i mean bombers and strike aircraft can use it to stay alive, as far as never leaving it thats another problem all together.

Basically all I want is to be able to land on my own runway to rearm and have peace of mind to not just blow up because the AA acts like the dumbest idiots when I know gajin can make aim bot AA in other modes.

(honestly I don’t even play air that much I just hate the current AD and want a change.)

Depends on what level of patriots, because the earlier versions have some munitions that can fit in the map sizes we have(cant be increased because of the engine framework), and could be good enough.

S-400s have massive range exceeding what we have ingame, so S-300 older models would make best sense. Obviously similarly patriots have different varaints of munitions that also exceed the range of the map, but in general both aren’t meant for the game we have right now.

And they’ll need to be place at corners of the map. Which is just not fruitful gameplay, it’ll be annoying if they were ahead of the airfields in anyway because then bvr and anymore gameplay of bombing would become irrelevant

That was a joke.
If we want deadly AI killing people en masse, why not make it deadly AI simply killing everybody so I don’t have to endure AF campers.

dawg the ITO-90’s at top tier are way too fucking busted. They burn out REALLY fast, you can’t see 'em, can’t chaff/flare 'em, and you just explode out of the blue for daring to get too close to the enemy AF.
I miss the rolands.

slight increase to AF AAA strength, but decrease numbers and make it so they can be permanently killed

Easily the biggest issue with them. Sometimes you were chasing someone while unaware they were going to the AF and the bright red lights on the Rolands would warn you that you were too close. Now you just explode.

Can’t wait to get stealth rolanded iny WW2 prop, because I’m kinda sure it’s still a thing, isn’t it?
I’ve stopped playing Air RB for some time and instead just slap people using Fw 190 A1 in Ground RB, lol.

So that VT1 is fired at 8km. no warnings. At 10.0- 11.0 battles.
