Another game, another 3 fighters trying to use the airfield, they refuse to engage people who give the advantage to them, and they die the moment someone risks getting up close to the airfield because they have no clue how to fight back.
Why is this crutch still allowed? It’s such a mood killer. Nobody wants to sit there and strafe for 10 minutes, and fly around the enemy airfield for 10 minutes, just to preserve the kd of someone who’s kd is already negative.
oh yes, so i should grind my ass on tanks to play IL-10, and even once when i have them i also need some “SP” to spawn it.
Same shit on helicopters; i was so eager to unlock my first heli, and i played it a lot, even back in time when Ka-50’s killed absolutely everyone, i found out i could blow vihkrs up by shooting rockets back close enough, and this caused death of many Ka-50’s under my hand, at least until they “fixed it”.
now it was replaced by game mode (which i believe is still better than slaughterhouse of before) where SPAA’s spawn beneath you and kill you, and if that isnt the case, everything will be dead by the time i arrive.
But i have helicopters, even mi-24V, and im not grinding entire tank tech tree to use them
this is the most ignorant shit i’ve ever heard. I had so many fun moments in my B-17 / Do-217 / Pe-8 / … …
if you dont find such gameplay fun, its fine, but it doesnt mean nobody does.
this is already a thing. no fighters in team do it.
Ok, fun, spawn, alt tab, youtube, alt tab, space, turn around, ded or land, take off, ded.
Where’s the fun part in IL-10 Air RB that does NOT involve air combat?
Fly straight, click on tank, fly straight, click on light pillbox, no challenge whatsoever, because ground targets have markers and plane flies itself. No hurry.
It’s ridiculously uninspiring, demanding no skill whatsoever.
The same planes can be fun in Ground RB because there’s some challenge involved.
In Air RB the only action for IL-10 happens if it encounters a fighter or another attacker.
Either way, pure “ground attacking” action is absolutely pointless, as it does NOT involve other players. You can do that offline just fine.
And no, there’s no “intercept attackers”. It’s just attackers flying over ground targets, and either doing nothing )for 1 team) or causing massiv ticket bleed (for the other).
There’s no point in focusing these attackers as shooting them down does next to nothing for your team and it’s way more important to just focus enemy fighters/player controlled attackers. No one is also defending these attackers, as they are spread all around the map.
i mean getting to the ground targets without being spotted by any hostile interceptors, and if yet, being still far enough to buy enough time for allied fighters to dispose of them or maybe even killing him with own turret, as i earned most of my attacker kills.
You aren’t beinf clobbered by enemy fighters only because your own team’s fighter force is doibg a good job or enemy is too busy killing everyone else.
Don’t compare happy flying around the map to dogfights, where your head has to be on a swivel, you have to choose the right lines, time your dodges, and create gun solutions all at the same time. I really recommend you try some succesful fighter gameplay, do some 1 v 2 dogfights (and yeah I lose most of these, but often I can hold my own for quite some time) and then tell me it’s comparable in any way to attacker gameplay.
havent you seen my stats? i played fighters from biplanes to supersonic jets, even 1 v 2 dogfights at times… though, i win most of those by waiting for one to lose intrest in me and then picking them 1 by 1, i had moments where i had to 1v2 or even 1v3 in zero, and those i won were either me gunning one of them as fast as i could; before other could gain too much advantage or just receiving support from my team, at which point it was tehnically a furball.
and while the gameplay styles may be a lot different, i’d argue playing strike aircraft takes just as much skill and attention (in order to be just as effective)… its just that its more of a strategic big game.
Problem with most people who play the ground strike game is they rush in too early to get some kills on ground targets and while being down there you are fully exposed to enemy fighters coming in for a easy kill while it’s a gamble if ANYONE from your team will be coming to help or even be there in time.
If people would be taking a bit of a fighter mindset at start in attackers and help out the team a little simply through numerical advantage and after that go for ground, they’ll be much better off.
This is because either one of these is true
Your team wins the fighter battle so you aren’t getting bnz’d down below because there’s nobody above you to do so, or;
Your team died, and you are dead within the next minute too
The only way to influence both 1 and 2 in a positive manner, is to help win the game in the air before you turn to the ground. That Yak 3 may not be killing that Bf109 on your team simply because you can pressure that Yak 3 as well with your Bf 110/Me 410. Which means, that if that Yak 3 is out of the way, you can then 3v1 the next guy, and then snowball over the enemy team. Then you can decide when to go for ground, when its actually pretty safe to do so.
Anything else, you simply leave your success on a good game (getting lots of kills on enemy planes or AI or ground or whatever tickles your fancy) based on pure luck… who will win the fighter game? Because it matters a great deal who wins the game up there.
You are part of the battle no? If not, you can also bomb a tank or two in test flight or play single player campaigns. If you can’t help your team to secure the game, then you aren’t part of the team. So why would anyone playing fighters whose sole purpose is to secure air superiority give a damn about you then? It’s even more funny that quite a few of attackers are decent to good fighters as well.
That’s just an incredible lazy take to state “I’m not required to fight [other players] in order to attack units on the ground”.
If that’s the full capacity of your critical thinking, you should also not be bothered at all that you get cleaned up by enemy fighters. Then just dive straight down, kill a tank or two and bomb a base, take the L from the enemy team, and move on to the next game.
Another game another bunch of people running to the airfield the moment they feel a little bit intimidated.
Can we just Get. Rid. Of. It. Already? This stupid crutch for bad players should not exist. Let them face the consequences of playing badly so they can LEARN and get better, instead of handholding them.
They are absolutely required, a none braindead attacker, or even bomber which isnt a cosplaying fighter like the B18, can have a fundamental impact to the game when flown right. But most just dive from spawn to the nearest base while spamming the minimap and die. Their only impact in any positive fashion, is that they drag an enemy fighter or 2-3 down low. But the same happens with your team as well diving on the enemy team’s attackers or chasing a bomber. So it all nulls out regardless.
People who refuse to play the team game do not get to moan about not having the team’s support imo.
Nobody wins a game by bombing targets or diving on ground, this is possible on just 2 maps and takes a coordinated effort of attackers and disregard of the enemy team to counter in time. ALL other games are decided 100% on what happens up in the air, not on the ground.
in your definition “helping team” is to kill enemy fighters, you are so deep into this mindset you literary cant think of any other way. Take a look at sim EC, its a good example of what arb could be.
But then why don’t you play that because I can’t be bothered with that game mode even if it would be with RB controls and 3rd person. We had EC in RB, it’s just not my thing and I just don’t like it. I’m here because air to air combat only. I also don’t like those EC maps in RB with ground targets spread out over a large area because it just takes so much time just flying around that it makes me fall asleep.
And sure I’m fine with the existence of ground units, something has to be able to avoid people running forever and forcing the game on timer (or just being afk). But it would of been great if that weren’t packaged as the prime objective to win when it’s clearly not.
