Air Simulator Battles - General Discussion

Might be a bug reportable issue.

Its tricky. STT IFF is something they dont model so could fall under suggestion. But if an aircraft has STT IFF, then is it a bug reportable issue.

I genuinely have no idea. but either way. Yes, it is really really needed and its stupid we dont have it

This report is 2 years old

i’ll do my usual CM poking about it. See if I can get some traction for it :P

Even more why.

Did I come home to play ASB in opposite-land? The jet sinai match is 2 hours old so not exactly applicable.

Would you like to have normal rewarding, like is in other gamemods, in AirSim?

The room for exploitation in ASB was/is to great I think for a conventional economy system that we have in ARB. But it doesnt mean the current system couldnt be improved.

The central focal point of the current economy imo, is that you are rewarded for survival rather min-maxed actions and I personally quite like this idae for sim. But the issue comes from an over emphasis on this and how easy it is to “over cap” and have actions become wasted or do extremely well but die too soon and it go unrewarded

To that end, the changes I would propose is this:

  • Remove initial spawn cost. That way, you dont start matches in debt.
  • Provide partial, immediate rewards for certain actions (PvP kills, destroying a base, sinking naval targets, participating in objectives). The remaining reward would still come from activity time as it does currently, with other actions (damaging bases/AFs, killing AI vehicles, etc being fully activity time rewarded)
  • Add Activity time over-capping. Past 100%, add a signficant amount of diminishing returns for gains, but allow for activity time (and thus rewards) to go above 100%
  • Reduce the economy interval from being 15 minutes to 10 minutes and adjust the activity time reward accordingly
  • Upon dying, give a partal payout of outstanding activity time (i.e, if you had earnt enough activity time that at the next 10/15 minute inveral you would have gotten 10k SL, you’ll get 5k upon death)
  • increase the reward Landing gives based upon amount of activity time accrued

It can be inprove, those things you say sounds smart to me, but it would make it more complicated than it is now, the best and easyest way would be rewarding at the time of the action as in realistic air battles or any other mod in the game.
It would make the game more playable.
That joining cost should be deleted, in every mod you pay just the repair cost, not joining. It can be good.
And the real answer is, if I make and topic(because thay dont let me do the suggestion) would people write “yes” for the change in the rewarding?

The reason that kind of economy was removed (from my understanding) was matches where you had an entire team sat on the Airfield and then someone on the other team would come and strafe them, killing them all. It was apparently rather insane.

It also would exasperate the score farming. Where people attack an AF and then J-out. allowing people to gain SL/RP directly from that as well. Would turn that into a prime farming strategy and it would be exploited year round. Which would then likely result in massive nerfs to the economy which would punish everyone.

I suppose it’s like any system people will find a way to exploit for their benefit.

I wish they would add roles.

IE you join the match to be a fighter so you get rewarded extra for deterring enemy planes from a certain sector and eliminating enemy planes.

Or as a bomber you get a reward for most tons of bombs dropped before death so that way people will stop jing out after a base bomb

Yeah, that could work, but then you get the grey areas of things that can and did do both.

Like if I bomb something in the Typhoon, should I get rewarded less simply because “its a fighter”?

Let alone things like the FRS1 being classed as a strike aircraft

I mean like you pick the role when you enter.

As in I could pic to be a bomber in the Shar.

In reality I would like actually simulated operations where 2 teams have objectives they try and compete over.

Id still prefer to be able to do both middle of match without any kind of detrement

Sorry for sidetracking is there way to make head movement work while opentrack is installed? For now game blocks my head movement if opentrack folder exists. I have fine curves set for my view thumbstick and i want to use my dpad for head position up/down/left/right but it is blocked.

Nah its fine, this thread is for anything and everything SB related

Not that I am aware. Its been reported years ago but not yet fixed. I use the same, but have never gotten it to work either.

Does anyone know why you cant change the range displayed on the radar after locking someone with acm? Quite annoying.

The acquire mode is specific to close in fights where all you want to do is lock the radar what it on your nose.

If your radar picks up a target from far distance you can lock it with ALT+F “Lock Radar/IRST on Target” Than it will lock anything at any distance the Radar can physically lock.

Unfortunate, i really started to like viewing around without head twitching because head movement and view are on same axis

I think it may be related to the “Tilt” - I changed the button around because what I had was hard to reach when I needed it.

After doing some testing, it seems the tilt is much more needed and you must keep track of it now, where as before it more or less was fine in the middle and didn’t move around on its own or reset to the center or something is different, I never had to bother with it and now I do.

Here’s me figuring that out (though I did not make any commentary)

I used to use TrackIR all the time - not sure if anything is changed (I use VR now) but my TrackIR is still installed - I know you will need to (probably) spend money to use this but if you like playing flat and want the advantage of VR as well, TrackIR is the way to go - the way I understand opentrack is just a camera version of that, might as well hop on the real deal (the TrackIR system is less than 100 bucks which, Thankjs to Joe Biden, is now about the same as $20 so let err rip).

I rarely have 100€ of disposable income left at end of month. Inflation/adoption of euro/mass import of foregin workers hit average worker(like me) like brick.
+i have -6, -5 diopeter so my glasses give me lenseffect and chromatic aberration when tilting and pitching, moving head at angles isnt really option. Right xbox joystick axis is perfect to me and got used to it.

Hello, I’ve been told that playing sim battles is much better with a joystick and I wanted to know, (if there’s nothing wrong with that) which joysticks you’d recommend? I’ve watched videos and all of that but I can’t get to know which one would fit War Thunder better, as there’s many controls. Until now, I’ve used the keyboard to move the aircraft and the mouse to look, the only problem is that I can’t get into a dogfight because I’m bad at controling it with the WASD keys. BVR is easy as it’s basically the same as in ARB. I like to use A2G munition since there’s usually no one.
And on a completely different topic, do you use Bullpups in sim?
Well thanks in advance and I hope that answering me isn’t a bother and you understand what I’ve written to a certain point.
