Thats kind of the ENTIRE point of the current BR rotation system.
One day, the 11.3 aircrafts are seal clubbing everything the next, they are the ones being seal clubbed and the 10.7/11.0s that were unplayable can now be played.
next rotation it changes again and now 10.3s are good… etc etc etc.
Beats out the Total RnG of ARB where you are constantly uptiered and huge number of aircraft are rendered unplayable because the MM forces you into uptiers most of the time.
Blaming the best feature of ASB for ASB being being unpopular and not the fact ASB has been abandonned by the devs and therefore resulting in no updates, new content, new maps or even bug fixes is just wild.
Except they dont. Like not at all. 10.3/10.7 aircraft are just as bad vs 11.3/11.7s as the 11.3/11.7s are against 12.3s. Which is kinda commonsense, if they could actually fight each other, they would be the same BR and not 1.0 above/below
It’s fun being able to join any lobby you feel like and not worry too much about being completely outclassed (altho top 5.0 feels kinda cancerous with how many ki-84s/spitfires you can run into, and top 6.0 feels cancerous with ju-288s).
Wanna fly 109F4/P51C/Mustang MkIa/Tada Ki-61/G.55Sotto0? You can fly it whenever you want (provided viable lobbies exist and servers aren’t awful. Viable defined: 64x64 map, not thundercloud, not hazy, has 6v6 minimum with people mostly in fighters doing fighter things and match not older than 60 mintues.
(Honestly it’s kinda why I sorta dislike 109K4. It uptiers into Ju-288 territory except for 2 days and I dont wanna be anywhere near that region.)
As a person that has time in the f4E it can contend with the mig 21. The f5 gives it trouble and the mig 23 mld is ridiculous. I can kill a lot of mirage f1c in the f4.
Yeah, perhaps. Though I quite like being forced to diversify what aircraft im flying at higher BRs.
Forced me to dust off aircraft I would normally not ever touched purely because its actually viable in a perticular rotation and the go to version might not be (Pretty much the only reason I started touching things like the Javelin and Hunter F1 is because of ASB bracket system)
Also… you talk about “Vietnam era” aircraft but balance isnt done by era. its done by performance. Otherwise the Mig23 should be like 13.0 and fighting F-15Cs and F-16s and not F-4s…
Morvran I’ve notice that you intentionally omit things that I say to prove your points. You do this often and with other people. I previously said that the outlier is the mig 23 mld. It’s flight model is almost identical to the f14A. I don’t have information to prove it but i believe that the mld is overperforming. I will do research and try to make a bug report.
12.3 aircraft like the M2K CS4, F-18A, F-14A, etc etc being unfair vs 11.3 aircraft like the Mig-21 (and also at 11.3 the Mig-23) with I assume the idea that as you ALWAYS insist upon, adding permament brackets instead of shifting brackets so that these aircraft will never face each other.
My response to this is simple. If you want to play an 11.3 in an 11.3-12.3 bracket, expect to face 12.3s or play a different aircraft, one that is ideally 10.7/11.0 instead.
Not every aircraft should be viable in every BR Bracket, not with the current compression at the very least.
The current rotation system is awesome and shouldnt be changed. Aircraft that are viable in 1 rotation might not be in the next but now something else is viable. Keeps the “meta” ever shifting and means every single aircraft is viable. Also balance is SOOOOO much easier because you only really need to worry about +/- 0.3 and not +/- 1.0. Its a lot better.
There are aircraft at the wrong BR. Like the F-14A should be 12.7 and Mig-23MLD more like 11.7/12.0. Then there is just compression issues, like 12.0-13.0 is a mess, but again… that isnt ASBs fault, if anything, ASB its actually not too bad, but its god aweful in ARB currently.
So I shall repeat what I previously stated.
If you dont like “being seal clubbed” in a full uptier Dont play an aircraft in a full uptier bracket. Pick a different aircraft at a different BR.
Do you not see how this negatively impacts population numbers?
The same argument is brought up at korean/early jet BRs.
“Don’t want to get shot at by heat-seeker missiles in your horten? Don’t play 8.3” Meaning, if you’re a horten enthusiast you cannot play on 7.7-8.7, 7.3-8.3.
(yes, I have zero games in the Horten. I can’t afford to even begin to spade that plane, much less learn it despite thinking it looks cool. She exists for test flight joyrides).
Popular aircraft would just drag everything up. Like for example 10.3-11.0 aircraft I like to play would just be unplayable 100% of the time because Id be forced to fight against Mig-23MLs 100% of the time.
No thank you. I like being able to load up ASB, and pick non-meta aircraft and actually have fun in them because im not forced into full uptiers 100% of the time vs meta aircraft
80% of the air tree i do not touch in ARB, because you only fight full uptiers and you are DOA.
100% of the air tree is viable in ASB, What is viable just changes from day to day.
By your logic rationale people should only play the planes that are the best in the bracket. Let’s actually follow that logic for a second and look at some hypotheticals.
If it’s a day where Ariete is at the top of the BR…then the logical choice for experienced sim players is to play the Ariete. If everyone that is experienced knows that the Ariete is the best and only wants to play the Ariete…then who is left to play against it? What other 9.0 planes in the game are even remotely capable of countering it?
What if it’s a day where 7.3 is the top bracket and the F-80C runs circles around everything that isn’t an Su-11? By your logic it makes no sense to play the Me-262 or any other aircraft at that bracket. So who’s getting seal clubbed?
Days where 7.0 is the top bracket? Well better break out my Su-11 when it’s finally not being punished by the F-80C.
If it’s 12.3 day then we better shelve all of the MiGs and break out our F-18s. Who is going to play against that?
So if every experienced sim player follows this logic of only flying the strongest plane of the day…then who is going to be flying against it? Predominantly noobs and farmers. Well it’s the noobs fault for not playing the meta and joining the enemy team…so they should just quit the game. And they do.
Sure, you might be able to increase the likelyhood of people playing lower BR aircraft in a bracket. But I still dont see why an 11.3 should somehow be truly viable in an 11.3-12.3 bracket. If that 11.3 was competitive against that 12.3, it wouldnt be 11.3 it would be 12.3
