They’ve arrived
Yup, it seems there is no right to say something or complain to ‘XP Pinata’ main :/
Lower the rewards, even by as much as 50%, but make bases completely unkillable as this whole problem is caused by them disappearing
Lowering the rewards just harms everyone and doesnt fix anything.
But making it so that the rewards were roughly the same but was purely from damaging the base and not killing it and thus the bases could be unkillable is certainly a possible idea
Maybe they could add bases that only bombers can see, due to a radio operator in the bomber receiving coordinates of a recently discovered enemy base sometime in the match from a nonexistent reconnaissance plane.
(Probably stupid but maybe they could add that to the game)
That could work, at least to mitigate some of the issues. but even between bombers/strike aircraft there can be a lot of difference in performance.
Like a Buc S2B would never beat an F-111A to a base and then we are back to square one. So would still need something in addition to that.
As long as matches usually end with the first wave of bombing attempts
(Usually, 25min isn’t enough for heavy bombers in ARB)
Cut the reward halves will cause nothing but decrease the overall reward of Bombers
But also, this idea can be a stopgap. I think
Not a proper solution, but fine for a stopgap, maybe?
Still 50% is too brutal.
Add AF bombing back so intercept is more a real thing
I honestly think the entire basebombing mechanic should be reworked. I hate the way it encourages team mates to work against each other and doesn’t even contribute anything to the match outcome.
Bombing bases needs to be reworked. Id imagine larger bases with different modules that need to be destroyed. Maybe a series of hangars that need to be bombed along with parked vehicles and relatively weak AAA. One player should not have the ability to destroy an entire base in a single run. Maybe rewards for bases could be adjusted too in this case since players wouldnt be able to solo an entire base but really something needs to be done here.
The current base structure is just aweful and outdated - along with many elements of the air game modes but there’s gotta be a better solution to what we currently have.
If we ever get Air RB EC, i would very much advocate for removing bombable bases in the regular Air RB altogether since in these short form “quick play” PVP focused matches, bombing bases really provides nothing to the team as a whole.
Same as with extra roads: They fuel the problem and create even more traffic.
You might as well introduce a second “To Battle” button: “To Bomb”. That will give you instantly 5000 RP and 0 SL as well as 8 min of crew lock in all nations. You get your fix and the fighters have their fun. ^^
there should be a thing a set number of strike aircraft/ aircraft are selected to bomb in a match. For non-selected players there would be a force-field like when you leave the map in GRB and would be teleported back to regular flight path. Maps would need to be Altered/ Changed
The first fix (imho) would be to repair the scoreboard. ATM, you can’t see what some team planes carry. You don’t even know who else has bombs. That would be the first thing to fix.
If you can guess the plans of team members, you can plan yourself.
Can I watch videos like this in-game while I get my crew locked…?
Sounds better than being ‘Pinatas of the Air’ in ARB :|

Funnily enough that’s how airfields in sim work
How is 1970’s jet getting gapped by 1950’s jet it was supposed to replace?
much agreed, bombing bases get’s you xp you can really get into, always have a bomber!
Doctrine moved from “throw napalm at vast areas of a forest” to “perform precision strikes at important military targets”
The old base bombing worked and helped push people to work togather.
Bombers would pick their bases and the rest would wait for the af to become bombable. It also gave bombers a way to win the game.
Throw napalm at vast areas of forest was never the intended use of the jets strictly speaking, fairly precise strikes were but turns out they also were really good as dropping tons of napalm
Compared to the precision the Tornado could achieve, especially in attack profiles other than essentially dive bombing the target like the F-4s. There is little equal.
But in game. The fact the Tornado is not only much slower but that Napalm is around 3x more effective is the issue. A Tornado has to lug 5-6 1K bombs to a base, the F-4 only needs 2x Napalm bombs to do the exact same amount of damage. The reduction in drag and weight, ontop of being faster platform to begin with and then finally able to better defend themselves is the issue we face in game.
Perhaps its time for CBUs to be added with the same kind of damage multiplier Napalm has
