Air RB only has 3-4 bases and most of them get destroyed by CAS planes or faster planes before the bombers manage to even get close to them, and the time it takes for bases to respawn is too long and usually the game ends before all bases manage to respawn.
This gets even worse in the early jet tiers, where the bombers like the Canberra, B-29/Tu-4 (In an uptier) rarely get the chance to bomb a base before a CAS jet which is faster takes it from them.
There is also a race in most games for which bomber/attack plane gets to destroy a base, and usually its the ones that are faster that manage to win.
Gaijin should add 2-3 or more bases so that all bombers on the team gets a chance to do what they were made to do, bomb bases.
More bases wont change anything. Just the fast fighters will get 2 bases per match instead of just 1.
The change I want them to do is either make the enemy forward airfield attackable or to add a “heavy” base that requires a large amount of bombs to destroy. But the key is that you would nearly always have something to bomb and thus will almost always make something from a match.
Likewise they could just massively increase the amount of bombs needed to kill a base, that way it takes multiple players per base to kill, that could work too.
It may, but I’ve done matches in something like a Lancaster, by some miracle made it to the other side and all the bases have been destroyed by strike fighters or light/medium bombers that are half way home already, killing a few AI along the way. I would guess they had enough bombs for more
I think the number of bases you would need to add to “guarantee” something to drop bombs on at nearly any BR would be rather insane. 10+ easily.
But Gaijin will never consider a BR specifiic solution though, so whatever is decided, needs to work at both BR1 and BR14
Lowering the rewards just harms everyone and doesnt fix anything.
But making it so that the rewards were roughly the same but was purely from damaging the base and not killing it and thus the bases could be unkillable is certainly a possible idea
Maybe they could add bases that only bombers can see, due to a radio operator in the bomber receiving coordinates of a recently discovered enemy base sometime in the match from a nonexistent reconnaissance plane.
(Probably stupid but maybe they could add that to the game)
I honestly think the entire basebombing mechanic should be reworked. I hate the way it encourages team mates to work against each other and doesn’t even contribute anything to the match outcome.
Bombing bases needs to be reworked. Id imagine larger bases with different modules that need to be destroyed. Maybe a series of hangars that need to be bombed along with parked vehicles and relatively weak AAA. One player should not have the ability to destroy an entire base in a single run. Maybe rewards for bases could be adjusted too in this case since players wouldnt be able to solo an entire base but really something needs to be done here.
The current base structure is just aweful and outdated - along with many elements of the air game modes but there’s gotta be a better solution to what we currently have.
If we ever get Air RB EC, i would very much advocate for removing bombable bases in the regular Air RB altogether since in these short form “quick play” PVP focused matches, bombing bases really provides nothing to the team as a whole.
Same as with extra roads: They fuel the problem and create even more traffic.
You might as well introduce a second “To Battle” button: “To Bomb”. That will give you instantly 5000 RP and 0 SL as well as 8 min of crew lock in all nations. You get your fix and the fighters have their fun. ^^
there should be a thing a set number of strike aircraft/ aircraft are selected to bomb in a match. For non-selected players there would be a force-field like when you leave the map in GRB and would be teleported back to regular flight path. Maps would need to be Altered/ Changed
The first fix (imho) would be to repair the scoreboard. ATM, you can’t see what some team planes carry. You don’t even know who else has bombs. That would be the first thing to fix.
If you can guess the plans of team members, you can plan yourself.
