So why change it, if people are happy as is, then why upset that because a vocal minority is asking for something because they cannot play the game in the way they want.

Deleting only the shared markers would be the best solution I think too.
So you still have the diamond on the hud radar and on mini map.
You see if someone is fighting, you can go there for help, but you can’t attack an invisible enemy in clouds only by his marker.
I think this would work for all BRs.

Spotting also changes the way you approach people, knowing whether it will be an easy or tough fight makes all the difference. I enjoy how you have to cautiously approach engagements in GRB and Sim battles because you usually aren’t sure what you’re facing. I’m not sure what the right change for spotting is though

At least at BRs where radar isn’t good/doesn’t exist, I think it should stay as is. However, it would be interesting if Gaijin removed the plane names from the markers, but kept everything else as it is. I think deleting the shared spotting system isn’t that realistic, since pilots would presumably communicate enemy positions to each other IRL.

Yeah, for the very least they could remove the type of aircraft displayed once you spot someone, I don’t think the human eye will be able to specifically tell me which year and what variant of F-15 I’m engaging.

Sound also plays a large role in Ground RB and Simulator, it can help tell you the direction of which the enemy is approaching and if they merged with you or not but this is entirely irrelevant in Air RB.

The system is still ok but gaijin added the wrong datas.

This is going to be mostly useless as more and more C&P toptier jets from sub trees are getting added.

Separating Red v Blue would force balance, though. I’m in favor of it. So many aircraft are grossly underperforming or overtiered but swept under the rug because of mixed matchmaking. China is really the only country where you have mixed red and blue aircraft in the same team (especially going forward), all the copy and paste is on the blue side

True, forgot about the C&P problem in War Thunder.

A simple solution would probably be separating a individual nations vehicle by team like a German MiG-29G for the reds and a German F-4F KWS for the blues but that’s only if this idea ever gets implemented which is unlikely.

Balancing teams on a historical basis would be significantly easier however since current teams now a days are just a genuine mess.

Exactly, vehicles like the Sea Harrier FA.2, Tornado F.3 Late and J-11A suffer due to this as well.

As opposed to the current chaotic, not very skillful, moshpit we have? No thanks I don’t care if bad players want to complain about being bad. They shouldn’t have their hand held and coddled/pampered just because it would take effort to learn top tier in 8v8/10v10.

Especially without making the maps smaller to allow for the smaller teams.

You can’t ask for larger maps and not larger player counts.

The maps definitely don’t need to be smaller in a 12v12 or 10v10 match, even around rank VII in my opinion. Only the EC ones would feel too large, but those are very rare.

Hell no, this will play havoc with both MM and balance, and it kicks open the door to some issue-causing shit.

Historical teams would expose imbalance in War Thunder, no? Fighting a F-16 in your F-16 kind of dilutes you from the immersion and removes any uniqueness from your vehicle effectively as both teams have said vehicle.

And if it was viewed as unbalanced then Gaijin would be forced to take measures for once (shock, shock, horror).

Idk if the balance would be messed with, but I wouldn’t really want to be guaranteed to face a certain nation at any BR, it leads to alot of monotony, and it creates a less engaging and exciting game.

It would wreck queue times since most battles (atleast around rank VII, and I assume the same is true for rank VIII) are almost always US/Germany/China vs Us/Germany/China with some minor nations thrown in.

Normally I get annoyed at people spouting ‘muh realism’, but here you seem genuine sooo…

The fundamental issue here is twofold - first, historical MM (Especially era-based), wreaks havoc with smaller nations. C & P also makes it near impossible, especially as we get into the stealth era. (Right now we would have about… four total stealth fighters that could be added, two from the US.)

You can actually see another issue, if you look at the KV-1B and KV-1E. They are identical vehicles, yet one was considered more of a problem because it was german.

Being unable to face your own plane causes issues, especially when its one of the best/is the best at it’s BR/fills a niche that nothing else does.

There is also the matter that top tier would literally just be Everyone vs China and Russia, soo…
