Yeah, if you were the only one on your team maybe. But you usually have 15 other people on your team. And if you play US then 12 of them will be hunting for bases. On top of this, most American aircraft can take out multiple bases. So now you have 4 bases with a 4.5 minute respawn and your team has the capacity to destroy 24 bases. This obviously causes a problem when demand is so much higher than supply. And since 70% of the player base is mentally ill, the obvious solution is to teamkill the fast jet who “stealing” your base kill.
Imagine how cool it would be if all of your bombers flew together in formation, ready to support each other from interceptors as they make their way to the drop zone. Don’t have to worry about your base being stolen - you’re dropping as many tons as you can onto an industrial district/military base.
Instead we get a game mode which encourages individualistic behaviour, where all bombers go after the nearest base as fast as they can so that it isn’t stolen from them, assuming they aren’t picked off before making it that far.
Another example of where GJN’s greed trumps gameplay.
You must be very unlucky. Half of my games im the ony one with bombs. Never in my life i had more than 5-6 people going for bases
I just play 10.0-11.3 US ARB which is all A10, A6, A7, F105, or F4 loaded with bombs. Though more recently there’s also been Tornadoes and the occasional F111 which I suspect will increase in numbers overtime.
Before I unlocked my F-111, I was flying my thunderchief. And good god with the new base respawn times it was near impossible, as F-111’s on my team are faster than me and get there first. If by chance there are no F-111’s on my team, there would be A4’s with bombs faster than me, or other multirole fighters equipped with bombs.
F-111’s have it pretty good right now though… they outrun all other allies carrying bombs as long as you only load the inner pylons so you can go supersonic. What a stupid change.
i hope you make air rb bases great again
Exactly. Flattening all the maps so the incompetent can find enemies easier. Why bring out a long range, low armor vehicle? You have nowhere to snipe from anymore, and don’t have the armor to knife fight like Gaijin wants you to. It’s all so that the incompetent have a better chance. Instead of them learning tactics, they cry that things are too hard. And since Gaijin wants their money, guess what. Maps get gumbified so that the lowest common denominator won’t leave the game. Soon we’ll have totally flat maps with no trees or buildings.
Yup, Gaijin apparently didn’t learn their lesson from the ratings bomb incident. They want your money bad, and this is one of their ways to get it after “fixing” the economy to appease everyone. If you can’t grind by bombing bases, you’ll get tired of waiting and buy GE to advance. They’ve proven time and again that they care nothing about the players except to bilk them for every penny they can. Not going to be spending another penny on this game.
Just a note to reinforce that this is absolutely yet another in the long lines of slimy, silent intentional changes to neuter SL/RP gains. See also: match reduction to 25 minutes, increased AI ticket bleed and 16v16 matches.
Last night I flew a few Rank 3 AAB matches for bombing/BP tasks and they’ve introduced rapid respawning bases to AB, but at about 1/4th the TNT requirement. Thats to say you can kill a single base with a 2000lb bomb and it will respawn almost immediately, but your total TNT SL/RP rewards from doing so are reduced by 75%. No AF to destroy as the four low TNT bases just respawn over, and over and over again. It’s disgusting.
I’d love if Gaijin devoted just 1% of the ingenuity they employ on silent economy nerfs and seemingly arbitrary PvE component changes to creative and engaging game and map design. Spread the targets around and use more of the map? Nah. Create actual strategic bombing targets such as factories, refineries and bridges that might dynamically impact the course of a battle? Nah.
Yet here we are, playing a stagnant and stale decade old game mode designed for 1940s aircraft by a developer who will 2 or 3 times a year introduce or change core game components without actually improving the game for players in any meaningful way. It’s malfeasance and incompetence on a massive scale.
I have witnessed this situation, and it’s astonishing to see the toxic behavior that arises due to unnecessary competition for the bases, particularly fueled by this selfless culture of maximizing farming (drop bombs in the shortest possible time, achieve high earnings-per-minute). Recently, two Ju-288s couldn’t agree on who had the right to claim the nearest base. Despite one of them marking it on the map, the other refused to acknowledge it, leading to a confrontation in which they both killed each other. It’s disheartening to see the extent it has reached: players no longer play as bombers for genuine interest or enjoyment…
You were the only bomber, hm?
Tell me, then you woke up and it was all a dream?
Seriously, if you are the only bomber, turn on your wifi my dear, you are playing offline!
I will send you screenshots later this afternoon.
Human nature is Evil(x)
Gaijin natureis Evil(√)
Just like the real world , when the environment is enough for everyone to live , there will be no disputes.
Sad
I just left a game where I was tempted to TK another player because they bombed a base I pinged. Seriously, they need to find a compromise. 4.5 minutes between base respawns results in no base respawns.
I believe you, no worries, just kidding!
they have confirmed this is “not a bug” which is annoying
This is basically a problem of your character. Because there is no base entitlement. If you ping a base, it means at best: “If I am fastest and survive, I will bomb that base. So if you are slower, you might like to go elsewhere or bomb ground.”
For people like you I like to write at start “all red bases are mine - feel free to steal them”. Then the entitlement issue is settled. Is that what you’d prefer?
I have learned: The people who ping the most are the people who heed the least.
I’d like to see them respawn a bit quicker, I’d also like to see a overall ticket increase and make the match timer a bit longer for larger maps.
It’s more of a courtesy, and helps to avoid stuff like trying to bomb the same base.
It’s the same with not killing a plane that is on fire/free falling, it’s the nice thing to do…
At this point, I don’t get mad at either, at the same time I’ve also learned to lax my policy on such matters since it happens so often.
Just the other day, I saved a F-4F that had a F-5E on his tail. Landed a crit and was wheeling around to finish off and the guy I saved stole the kill(it was 2v2 just 4 people left in the match) I didn’t even say anything
perhaps the problem isn’t with my character, but the character of the other player who decided to forgo general norms of decorum because the developer decides to make things harder a chosen play style. I wouldn’t have needed to ping or worry about wrestling with fratricide even before the base respawn time was changed the first time.
Bottom line: Not everyone plays or has the same play style that you do. Some of us love flying on the periphery of the map, at tree level in order to avoid detection and kill a base. Others love the furball in the middle of the map. We shouldn’t look down on those who decide to do the former.
The issue isn’t entitlement. The issue is a change to the mechanic of gameplay that now causing issues for some players. It isn’t entitlement to ping a base and have a reasonable expectation that you will be able to bomb the base. Before the change (that is before the change that made them spawn almost instantly) even if someone dropped on that base, you would still have the chance to bomb before the game ends. That is what we are upset about, that is what we are asking for.
