yes . 3 years

The ASRAAM also uses this sensor until Block 6.

@Gunjob, could you tell us if this is still under consideration or off the table?

As Code said, it uses the SM-6 seeker which is derived from the AMRAAM.

I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if they did that to start with.

And if loal is added in game, it wouldn’t surprise me if it is pretty unreliable. There are usually a lot of aircraft and flares flying around in air RB, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a habit of locking the wrong targets.

Yeah, a lot of TKs

especially for LOAL for ir missiles without datalink. Will be essentially useless…

It’s already annoying as hell for missiles like the r-27et given the variability that can happen after launch of the missile

TBF, LOAL on IIRs with no datalink is usually just for off-boresight shots, not really for range. Ideally we’d see gaijin actually implement proper IR lock ranges but… anyways. For offboresight capabilities specifically, LOAL in WT works fine~ish. Still vulnerable to preflaring, but it kinda works.

it is for range on asraam

and with how IR seekers are modeled in game to use any of them at range they need LOAL and probably DL

r-24t with over 100km lock range against a sr-71 yes please

About as hot of a target as you can get iirc though, between its huge ABs and Aerodynamic heating

What about buffing the R-73 because currently it’s kinda terrible

R-73 is fine where it is. It is meant to be a dogfight missile, and while that doesn’t really fit the meta of dogfighting right now, those are tradeoffs that have to happen.

Im aware

Spins out after turning more than 3Gs, non-existent IRCCM

r74m and r74m2 has iir seeker normal r74 doesnt also r73m gets mistaken for r74
