idk, if it was that good and IIR were that hard to flare then why would you even use radar missiles since afaik IIR’s are immune to ECM

probably because of range penalty. mica ir/r-27et have less range compared to their radar counterparts because the nose of the missiles are round to accomate an ir seekerhead instead of pointed like missiles with radar seekers.

still, even with a slight range penalty the advantages seem so overwhelming according to people here. personally i think the seeker performance claims of iir missiles are slightly inflated because if there was a seeker immune to ECM, LDIRCM, and typical countermeasures everyone would just focus on improving stuff like the nose of the missile

It has already been denied for this major, and the AIM-9X is, therefore, far superior to the R-73.

that dosent mean that the 9X is able to pull that tho
also you dont necessarily need DL for that as the IRIS-T dosent have it either, IOG is enough

and the thing with the DL on missiles is that it isnt really omnidirectional, most of the time its limited to the rear hemisphere of the missile and then it depends from where and how the platform firing the missile is sending the DL updates

There are no reliable sources stating that the missile reaches 60g the highest figure we have from various sources is 40g.
