The Aim-9X’s seeker, on both the Blk1 and Blk2, is only a 128x128 sensor, and is only single band. Ignoring things like quantum efficiency and such which are classified, this is the lowest spec of any IIR missile to my knowledge.
Stuff like the MICA-IR NG have 256x256 dual band, Python-5 is some weird resolution, but is like 158x256 or something like that, and also dual band. AAM-5 is 256x256, and the B variant is dual band. Then the euro missiles get their 128x2 dual band linear scanning arrays for an effective 128x128, which does natively have better LDIRCM then the 9X’s seeker.
Although, all that being said, it doesn’t really matter in game, because gaijin just gives all IIR missiles the same seeker at the moment.

Balloons? Dunno, but they (at least, IRIS-T) have been shooting down drones and cruise missiles last I heard
Anyway based on the footage… the fact they had to get pretty close to launch says a lot 😉
So far MICA is 2 for 2 while AIM-9X missed its only shot so far, clearly AIM-9X is inferior /s

Unless they force LOBL, in which case MICA IR only having 60° gimball puts it at a disadvantage to most with 90°

It’s good, but it has its niche as a long range IR.
ASRAAM is really fast and maintains energy well, will practically be a guaranteed kill within 5km at least in a chase
IRIS-T is in between MICA and 9X (could even argue ASRAAM too) performance
