Unlike R27R1 there are couple sources indicates that IRIAF F-14 actually managed to fire R-73.
On the other hand R27R1 was never bein competible with Tomcats Radar.

I know they tested the R-73 with the F-4E, but very questionable about the F-14A because to launch R-73s, they require different missile launcher.
USA didnt tested F-14 with R73, according to couple sources it was the Iran who tested R-73 with thier F-14 Tomcat and they actually become successful.
Nevertheless its just rumor i’ve yet to see any credible evidence about it.
nah chief especially r27r1 its a sub 6km missile it will use all its energy pretty early if the target isn’t flying in a straight line
Let’s get this back on track here. This is about the Aim-54C massively underperforming (which is undebatable)
Here’s some evidence to support this:
This flat-out says the missile trajectory is tuned to be way more optimal than the Aim-54A. This is not shown ingame. It also states this allows it to hit “vigorously-maneuvering targets”.
This specifically states the missile can track past the notch, meaning its seeker is different from the Aim-54A because it can reliably track rear aspect.
This states the Aim-54C received a low smoke motor. Not much to argue here. Plain as day.

Super hard to find any data on aim 54C that gaijin will accept would you happen to have anything that talks about its speed

well you have to use elevator while rolling for the AIM-7M not just your ailerons

not at 13.x man in a head on at 10km it will be seen and dodged more likely than not
R-27R outclasses the Aim7F/M simply due to DL and IOG, it also has more agility for the high PK ranges.
At 10km+ both missiles are easy to avoid if you are prepared, the Aim7F having more range isn’t a big deal because the PK is very low unless your target is AFK.
At less than 10km the R-27R is simply more reliable when the enemy takes propper defensive action.
