Hey, ive been playing the eurofighter for a few months now, but ive notice now, that the missiles behave weirdly, I can take the most quality shots yet the missiles misses. I started using the 120c5 when it came out, but then I found out, that at short range theyre worse than the 120b’s. Both missiles tho feel very easy to notch, compared to micas or r-77s, this is not a complained this is supposed to be just a discussion. Thanks :)

My suggestion is that u take 2 120c for early bvr and the rest 120b

AIM-120 have never really been great (aside from its range) so no surprises there. MICA’s seeker is different. The MICA EM was given its historical seeker field of view a while ago and went from 15 degrees field of view down to 7 degrees field of view.
Unless someone has info regarding the performance of the AIM-120 (all) seeker they can bug report it (though unlikely to find anything that’s not restricted). R-77 also has the same seeker, it just pulls harder that’s all.

doesnt all fox 3s in game use the same seeker excpet the MICA and the Phoenix/Fakour if i remember correctly?

problem is there are no sources regarding the 120s performance that war thunder wants to recognize as a source. Thats the main problem with the game.

Sure they are, because C5 is slower of the rail but has more topspeed with the same G-limit. So the turning circle is bigger. Just phisics.
Compared to Mica/R-77 it’s also clear that they are harder to notch because they have way more G-limit. Even if they all would have the same seeker.

yeah, but most of the times you end up in high off boresight shots, where the 120bs are better than the cs.
performance; how the missiles seeker, flight performance and physics behave. sources; its hard to find sources that war thunder recognizes, for example, they dont recognize wikipedia as a source for military information. Tho finding a acceptable source about military things is hard. In the end I think war thunder is just guessing the performance of planes, missiles and more.
yeah, I have noticed that too, first the radar is harder to notch plus it regains a lock faster than any other missile in the game, the 120s get notched and are done, they dont even try to get another lock.
In all speeds 120b pulls more

There are no sources needed here. Neither aim120b nor c-5 can consistently pull 35gs. You can see r27s missiles with similar flight characteristics can oull way harder

I just tested it on ss 120b have higher or equal g limit to 120c
That’s why you reject the US normie missiles and embrace the Japanese superior gigachad domestic boys such as AAM-3 (AIM-9M on crack) and AAM-4 (AIM-120B with much better close-range performace). B)
Jokes aside, AMRAAMs are better than their competition only at higher alts at medium to long range (10 km+). Ofc they’re still better than Derbys on all fronts but that’s a whole another topic.
i wouldnt say 10km+. amraams starts having an advantage 20km+
